Lilu: what do users think?
Louise Dzelme: Always great food and a brilliant atmosphere
Mike Sonus: Initially wary of the 'fine dining' tag in relation to Indian. True, you won't get a Vindaloo but it really is a game changer. The duck in particular was fabulous.
nathan yates: Me and my partner both have Indian food a lot and never had a meal quite like that the owner made great conversation explained all about what we were eating the atmosphere was perfect we live an hour away and will be making the trip again just for this one place Thankyou once again for a great evening
Bernie Weir: Terrific place for food, ambience, staff and service. Indian food that is mouthwatering and exciting
Mark E: Absolutely sensational. The service and food here is on a whole new level that I've not found anywhere even close in Leicester. You are made to feel like royalty the moment you walk through the door right through to when you leave. A wonderful, relaxed fine dining experience with food that's packed with passion.Absolutely fabulous value for money.
Dean Stanley: Pratik and the team are the best hosts ever.... and the foods not bad either
scott bridgwood: Definitely the best restaurant in Leicester...I'd recommend it to anyone.
Rupal Patel: Excellent Indian food which isn't just a curry. Tasting menu at £59 per person is an absolute bargain for the quality of cuisine provided, especially being use to London prices. Lamb chops are the best! The owner, Pratik is very knowledge and made the night a great laugh.
Priti Charan: My husband surprised me for our wedding anniversary and I must say the food was absolutely amazing. The presentation of the food was like something you see on Master Chef...lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend this place 🙈
Amish Thakrar: Been to Leicester many times and tried many Indian restaurants this is hands down the best Indian food I've had. Lamb is oh my god amazing. Staff is amazing. Place is clean. I couldn't recommend this place more.
Daniel Bond: Stumbled into this place by accident and so happy I did. Every mouthful was amazing, but the duck main was the best Indian dish I have ever eaten. Can't recommend this place enough.
Shailesh Pateriya: Good restaurant with amazing Indian food, helpful staff and Ambience.
Gio Verde: Great food but way too pricey. Lovely experience tho
Ken115 jiro: Excellent food and service
Aakash Odedra: Fine Indian Dining - great food and great staffI called the restaurant to make a booking - except my query was for an out of hours booking. As there were 9 of us, the restaurant owner, Pratik, agreed to put on a special private dining event for a Monday lunchtime for us. For this I was very grateful. As it was a working lunch, we only wanted a two course meal. Lilu's delighted us with an 'Indian Banquet Meal'. The ambience of Lilu's is lovely. I had been on one prior occasion for dinner (more on that later), and knew that the venue was clean, cosy, comfortable. The decor is neither kitsch nor uber modern, it is a restaurant styled with modern furniture but with a friendly vibe with wooden floors and subtle wall art.So that main event... The Indian Banquet Meal...Starters came with Paneer Tikka, Chicken Tikka and Lamb Chop. The vegan option was Aloo Tikki Chaat. And for good measure a mandatory samosa.Presented on individual plates, these starters kicked off the afternoon very nicely. My eight guests were just taken away with each. The paneer was smooth to cut and the marinade of tikka had both the light kick and freshness needed to make your mouth wanting more. And you did get more, with the chicken piece. Marinaded the same, the chicken was consumed so quickly by all, the only disappointment being that they couldn't have more - they would have spoiled their dinner. The Lamb chop has a nice crispness and a soft centre, just the contrast needed. Available were also a range of pickles which included mango, onion, mint yoghurt, coriander and a kind of pineapple achchar. Of course these also came with a fresh poppadom! These pickles were awesome, giving the right edges of sweet and spice to the starters and the poppadom. The little details matter, each of us were served a fruit juice of mango and strawberry to accompany. It had that, I wish I could somehow make it look like that at home look. Served in a champagne flute complete with pomegranate seeds. Then came the mains...they served as we needed - in balti dishes so we could share the dishes and not overfill our plates. Mains comprised of Lamb Rogan Josh, Butter Chicken, Kidney Beans Curry and Soya Keema Curry, with naan and rice. There was silence at the table at this point. That moment when the group is so focussed on the food that even conversation takes a side road. It was very difficult for the group to decide which of the Chicken or Lamb dishes gave them their fix. The party I was with were from Mumbai, they are used to eating Indian food. When you hear comments like, 'Oh my God, that chicken was something else' and 'My goodness that is perhaps the best lamb I've had', to 'I've got to stop eating but I can't it's too good', I guess I should be a proud Leicesterian when I prance about all over the place saying how good Leicester food really is.The butter chicken was delicate, just as you need it to be, the taste is in the aroma before it even enters your mouth. And the lamb had the delicate spices lifting the meat onto the pallet. The kidney beans were a favourite with the rice, just a lovely gravy to go with it. The earthy Soya Keema provided a lovely contrast. The staff were incredibly attentive, kind and accommodating. Our guests were suitably relaxed to be able to have the work conversation without feeling at pressure at all.I had once visited the restaurant with my wife for an evening meal where I had rocked up without much of a reservation and they catered for our dietary requirements. This is how gourmet food is approached at Lilu's. They treat you as house guests enquiring about your comfort and trying very hard to ensure your meal with them is as individual as it can be in a restaurant environment. If you go in the evening, make it the only thing you do. We were there 2.5 hours on that occasion. That's a dining experience...!Thank you for a lovely afternoon of food, and thank you for catering so effortlessly.
Nigel Podgers: Just got back from a birthday night out at Lilu with the other half. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and wonder how i haven't heard of it sooner?! Staff were top drawer and nothing was too much trouble. Made us feel like we were having a meal with family. The food is next level too. Been to plenty of indian restaurants, but these dishes are like no other.... and the flavours, WOW!! High praise for an establishment of the highest quality. Thank you all for a great night.
Ellie Adams: Tried Lilu for the first time yesterday. We weren't sure what to expect from the concept of 'indian meets fine dining', but that is exactly what it is. The restaurant uses the best of local ingredients it can source, and creatively transforms them into anglo-indian gastronomy. The crispy paneer starter was the stand out for me, closely followed by the okra side-dish, but all of the food we had (three courses, plus some sides to try out a few different things) was absolutely divine. Atmosphere was great, very tranquil, and the staff were attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening, and will definitely be returning in the future. Finally, just to add, that although the food is fine dining standard, don't be put off by this label in terms of price, or portion size. The food looks and tastes amazing, the but portions are generous, and present great value for the quality of product they are offering.
Rob Sinfield: Absolutely stunning. The only problem is going to other restaurants after the perfect food and service of Lilu. Can't wait until my next visit!
Elliott Richards: Lilu is food heaven and Pratik is food God. He's created an incredible place to spend a special evening and crafted an exceptional array of some of the finest cuisine we've ever been blessed to sample. This place is a gem in Leicestershire's culinary crown.
Feast And The Furious: We visited for a birthday treat and was blown away by the amazing food and very attentive/knowledgable staff. Starters were so good we had more than 1 each, mains were fab and how can you possibly choose between a keema naan (the best ive ever had!) a red Leicester cheese naan and a stilton naan? you can't so you may as well just have one of each! Would highly recommend and can't wait to visit again soon. Thanks for having us!
Dalvinder Kalsi: Probably one of the best places I've been in a while. Lilu It takes the traditional tastes and makes it into something beautiful. On my visit I had the thali! Definitely was worth it! Great prompt service, so friendly and they offer great suggestions - unlike some restaurants which they just leave you to it. It's also great to see that they also use local produce! Also...please note their chilli cheese red leicester naan is to die for!
