Ren Esho: Amazing experience! My first guitar lesson was perfect, and I'm looking forward to the next lesson. I'm profoundly dyslexic, and I had moments where my brain was slow at processing the basics...however, even though Derek didn't know this about me he slowed everything down and didn't make me feel uncomfortable in anyway! Due to Derek's patience I was able to learn a lot more. Derek helped me discover new things with my guitar playing and also gave me the spotlight to jam and practice with my new chord or notes before moving on to the next step! This really helped create a fun experience for me! Highly recommend!
scottrock19: I have just started lessons with Derek after 14 years of on/off playing. I spoke to Derek about what I wanted to focus on and from the first lesson we dived straight in. After half a lesson assessing where I was with my playing Derek new exactly where to start and what I should focus on. I haven’t enjoyed practice this much since I was a teenager. Can’t wait to get more in depth in music theory. Highly recommend Derek for all levels of students.

Kala Patel: Derek Roberts is an extremely experienced guitar teacher and you will not find a better person to teach someone from beginner to advanced level. He specializes more in blues, pop, rock and jazz, but will give a clear path for development so you can really understand how music is made. Improvisation and feeling free to create is central to his teaching approach too.
Margaret Rice: Derek Roberts is an extremely knowledgeable guitar teacher and can teach beginners to advanced. He can help you really understand how music works without getting bogged down in theory. The theoretical knowledge he teaches is immensely practical and useable in a wide range of guitar styles and I would recommend him very highly. He also has a wide range of music business experience and can help with your general musical and creative development.
Serena Alexander: My son has been having guitar lessons with Derek and has made leaps forward with his jazz playing technique. He is now building on a good basic understanding of how jazz chords and modes work and it's a pleasure to hear his development.
Tranquil Plants: Derek Roberts also known as Dr Creative is a really great teacher. He is extremely experienced, has loads of patience and can take you from a beginner right up to advanced level in a variety of styles. Lead guitar, scales,modes,chord construction, rock, blues, jazz...anything you need he can teach it. I would highly recommend him.

Kieran Ladyman: Took lessons with Simon for close to 2 years until I had to leave Leicestershire. I always dabbled with guitar as a kid, using tabs but not getting properly into it.Simon has been great at teaching me the theoretical side of music in an understandable and interesting way from beginner to more intermediate settings, developing improv skills and breaking down the concepts of songs relevant to me.Simon's an excellent teacher and great chap, there's no age or experience level I wouldn't recommend him for.

I have been a professional pianist and keyboard player for over 30 years. A specialist in jazz improvisation, classical and popular music. My work has included recording, radio, concerts, tours, festivals across the UK and abroad including Germany, The Netherlands, Poland and Ukraine. I have been teaching piano and keyboard for over 20 years privately from my own home and also at schools in Leicestershire. My qualifications include- CT ABRSM Teaching (Royal Academy of Music, London), Grade 8 Piano ABRSM, Grade 5 Theory ABRSM.

I have known Glenn Hughes for 31 years and have found him to be trustworthy, reliable, patient and skilful in his teaching methods. He is a dedicated and talented musician with lots of live experience and anyone being taught by him will benefit greatly.
My father wrote some original music and after he died, I entrusted Glenn with interpreting and recording what my father wrote. Despite the difficulty involved, he produced a CD of my father's music which his children enjoy today, a fitting reminder. Thanks Glenn.
