Spire Leicester Hospital: what do users think?
Daniel Smith: I had a procedure at spire today, and it was honesty a lovey experience. All staff incredibly welcoming. I felt safe and comfortable the whole time. Thank you 🙏
Susan Crowther: Very happy with the service received from the Spire GP Service at Oadby.Dr Philip Green, associate GP, was very knowledgeable and helpful and made ‘going to the doctors’ a pleasant, enjoyable experience. His detailed summary letter arrived in the post 2 working days later too.It was easy to book a 30-minute appointment online for a Saturday.
Chris: Contacted them as a quicker alternative to using the NHS. Response email I received was so cold and impersonal I immediately decided I wouldn’t want to take my enquiry any further.
Jan McNulty: After 3 years of being in pain and no luck with NHS, 20 mins with pain management consultant we got a diagnosis and treatment sorted for my husband carnt thank you enough
Neil Kirk: I attended this hospital in order to have a Greek Visa medical form completed and paid £130 to see a GP there. He requested blood tests and an X ray to be done before he could sign the form. The price quoted for the tests was £411 and another £130 for the X-ray. This would make the total cost £671.My employer refused to pay this and I attended Harley Street where I saw a Dr, had an X ray and blood test completed for £222.The staff, Dr and other communications with this hospital have all been perfectly pleasant but in my circumstances it was £130 wasted due to the excessive prices or perhaps a low appetite for risk before signing a form.
Stormin Norman: Had a Nhs scan here service was very good
Julie: A year ago we decided to have our daughter assessed for ADHD. We were a little ambivalent about the decision at the time but thanks to the care of Dr Mooncey we are now extremely glad that we took the plunge. She was really empathetic and supportive and made every effort to really get to know and understand our daughter and to help her to recognise her strengths and to support and thus minimise her weaknesses. With online meetings available the whole process was straightforward and unstressful and has helped our daughter onto a really positive path.
Tom James: 5 star service from all of the team at Spire Leicester. I could not have asked for better care during my knee operation. Thank you
mattie4141: I attended Spire Leicester Hospital 2 weeks ago for surgery for an Umbilical Hernia. Like a fool I had left this problem for years without getting it attended to - and it was now protruding the size of a tennis ball9 year waiting list on the NHS if your lucky - hence the visit to SpireTo describe myself as a nervous patient is a major understatement - I was terrified! All my concerns were unnecessary. From arriving to leaving - the treatment was second to none. The receptionists, nurses, anaesthetist and the whole team that looked after me were nothing less than fantastic. Can’t thank them enough.2 weeks later I’m feeling great up and about, driving, back to work etc. I thought I’d be out of action for 6 weeks or more…Can’t thank them enough and highly recommend Spire LeicesterOh - I almost forgot. One last special thank you. Professor Lloyd that did the surgery. I knew from the start I was in the very best possible hands. Somehow carried out a big procedure with absolute minimum invasion. GENIUS!Many thanks to everyone at Spire!
P: Good hospital but does not take American Express. When I questioned this with the management, it was due to higher fees. I explained that my local hairdresser takes Amex and that I usually visit Nuffield because they also take Amex. But they do not see the longer term picture in that I would visit them more often if they accepted Amex. The penny pinching can also be seen in the reception area as every time I visit, the queue is often going outside with the reception desk being manned by two receptionists. As a result, they are losing out due to their penny pinching. Their loss, not mine, I will continue to visit Nuffield more often.
Sarah H: The car park at this hospital is an absolute disgrace. To say many consultant appointments are now around £200 for 15 minutes you do not expect to have to circle around for half an hour looking for a space and leaving your vehicle at high risk of damage due to the overly cramped conditions. A lot of the spaces seem to be taken by staff but it makes what is a stressful experience anyway so much worse when you can’t just park. I now go to Spire Nottingham instead it is far better organised and more friendly reception staff too.
Andrew Maslin: First class service in every area.Very efficient check in process, on time appointments and incredibly friendly and professional staff.
Nasim Dedat: I saw Consultant Ophthalmologist at Leicester Spire Hospital who gave me a treatment which differed to what they wrote to my Doctors and my Health Provider. When I complained, their response was this is due to my recollection. Not only did they disregard my concerns they belittled me. I would never recommend the Consultant I saw. Having to place trust in someone with regards to one's health, requires courage and I have let down.
Holly Westmoreland: Unbelievable level of service- every single member of staff went out of their way for me, made me so welcome and comfortable, and I was cared for impeccably. Would recommend to everyone.
Chris Connors: Excellent service throughout.
Holly Burton: Really pleased with my experience so far. Everyone I have come into contact with has been very helpful, professional and friendly.
Sebastian Pawlowicz: Very clean and good looking private hospital. The staff is very professional and competent. There is huge range of specialists and consultants available.
Sally Hughes: Knee replacement cancelled at last minute - their excuse - my kidney condition - which my NHS consultant says is stable so not a problem- this hospital has NO BACK UP facilities- do NOT consider going here!!
sharon jeffrey: I wouldn't know where to begin regarding my journey and a knee replacement, a very anxious and nervous patient I had put this op off for 5 years. I needn't have worried, wow what a team, from the reception staff, the porters, and catering team to the nurses doctors and consultants. I felt like I was in a 5 star hotel, the care and professionalism was unbelievable. I would not hesitate to return or reccomend
David Fuller: The experience could not have been better from start to finish. The staff were amazing, truly lovely people.
ben ward: Ruined me

Victoria Park Health Centre: what do users think?
Hugh McManners: The doctors here are lovely - but only (obviously) when you get to see them. My one-star grading is of their poor administration especially the inflexibility of their booking system and their administrators' refusals to address problems.Other reviewers here have made the same criticisms. The practice manager pastes in the same response; that we telephone the practice and discuss the problem. This entails a long wait for the receptionist, who then tells us the practice manager isn't available.I then tried writing. But the practice manager treated this as a formal complaint "to which we will reply within 40 days".Despite my then appealing by registered letter to one of the two senior partners, after over 50 days, their complaints process resulted in an anodyne letter of deflection from said Practice Manager. The senior partner did not reply to my second letter.VPHC have lost blood pressure readings charts I'd been asked by them to make, not passed on critical test results, not answered AirMed messages, not renewed prescriptions and so on. It might be because the doctor they've registered me to, to who the hospital consultants write (which their admins copy to me) is not a person I've ever met.Anyway, as I opened by saying, the doctors at VPHC are lovely, and the Centre well appointed. If the administrators were to be as conscientious, all would be well.
Aisha: I have had great experience with this centre. Econsult form to book any appointment is so very convient, the appointments are always dealt with on time. Dr. Sana Fazil in the practice is amazing. She is patient, kind, polite, and professional. She listens to your concerns properly and while giving advice, she explains everything to you in layman terms so as to educate you on the matter as well. She even picked up on an underlying health condition something I hadnt paid attention to and referred me appropriately. Definitely will recommed her to anyone. Other GPs in the practice Ive had appointments with are empathetic and equally capable. Very satisfied.
Jane Hatt: As an elderly couple, new to the area, we have found all aspects of this health centre excellent, caring, knowledgeable and accessible.
R- S-: Great service from Caroline, one of the practice pharmacists. Very patient and helpful.
R M: Not sure why they bother with appointment times since they always make you wait. I’m typing this while waiting for appointment. They once had me waiting for 30 mins with no explanation.
Shailen Thakrar: I've received nothing but excellent care from the team at VPHC.For those rating it low, you really should see how bad other practices are - This one is superb by comparison. The e-Consult forms make it simple to get an appointment with none of the frantic 8am calling like at other places.
Georgia Manton: Now have to use online forms to book an appointment. The practice is so impersonal now.Not only that but I had to wait an ENTIRE MONTH just for a 10 minute phone call. The GPs are usually quite good but the lady I talked to today seemed quite dismissive of my issues and I only made an appointment because the NHS website said I should. I am in incredible pain she told me it's common (even though it's not).
Beri: I have used VP Health Centre for several years now. Excellent GP service, the appointment system is easy to use, the staff are always professional, the building is clean and quiet and the Drs I have engaged with have all been professional and attentive.I appreciate the excellent medical care, so thank you all!
Izzy: I was in severe pain requested medication staff then rang argued and was rude with me about giving me medication for the pain witch is unbearable btw. Refused to give me the medication then to be spoken to rudely by an doctor who told me go hospital and put down the phone witch is absolutely disgusting considering your a healthcare clinic witch people come for help it’s ridiculous. If I am having on going issues & pain still witch Im ringing to tell you about that isn’t for a person who works on the phones behind a desk to judge and make the decisions if I need the medication our not that’s absolutely absurd to then just to get through to a doctor to be rushed off the phone and spoken to rudely and told go hospital and put the phone down by an young male Indian doctor. What kind of receptionist and doctors refuse there patients medication when they have on going issues and I can 100% confirm it’s the same thing iv had for years to be told and judged by someone who knows nothing about my condition and what’s going on in my body. From looking at the comments you need to hire new staff you can not treat human beings this way when we they are coming to you for help. Requested medication again now having to wait 4days and making me go in and talk to someone witch means left in pain again. Your establishment is ridiculous and needs sorting i Do not recommend to anyone because if you was to have a illness or be in pain your not likely to get the help or pain relief you need avoid this place the audacity of these people.
V Raj: Rude receptionist. Sounded very condescending on phone. Doctors were great. The management wasn't. 111 referred me for urgent GP appointment, receptionist said its not possible and I have to book through some website. I am in severe pain and they couldn't even book a 5 mins call with GP. Very pathetic management. I only joined here since I was a student at University Of Leicester. I don't recommend new students to join here. Very disappointed with the management. Change your receptionist. Please train them how to treat patients properly. You have disclaimer everywhere saying that patients should not speak loudly or angrily with your staff and won't be tolerated and zero tolerance policy. The same applies for your staff as well. They are not gods. Planning on changing to another GP.Edit 1: 21/03/2023The doctor gave me a new medication for my illness, but it was not available in the UK. When I went to various pharmacies, they told me it would take at least 28 days to restock the medicine. They suggested that I speak to my doctor immediately because it was a psychiatric medication. I tried to contact my doctor six times since yesterday, but they were not responsive. As a result, I have been without medication for over a week, and I am experiencing withdrawal symptoms. It is frustrating and disappointing that I have to plead for medicine, and I feel disgusted by the situation. The administrative staff should display basic politeness by informing the GP of my situation, but they did not even attempt to make any effort to do so.
Sara D: All the staff are excellent and I never have to wait too long on the phone, I’m very satisfied with my care at this practice. The use of an online form to book appointments really is great and a lot easier than having to ring up in a long queue like at my last GP. A lot of people seem to be confused about it in these reviews, it might be helpful if you clarify that you can’t book an appointment over the phone unless the website directs you to.
Good Vibes only: Just avoid seeing Dr Mandalia. She is never keen on helping you.
Tylah Wright: Reception staff not helpful at all, they also never acknowledge you when you walk in. I’ve just called for an appointment for my son which is urgent, and it 9.15 and they are fully booked. Also the nurses are very patronising. The doctors are generally quite good, especially Dr Andrews.
Vishal Patel: Fantastic Service, a warm welcome, and you can access other facilities. This Medical Centre always communicates with you. It shows they care.
Laura Kanbour: practically impossible to get to see a doctor, even when insisting a matter is urgent and you need to be seen as soon as possible. no one takes you seriously and you have to go through the lengthy online form process instead of being able to just talk to someone directly, resulting in delays of multiple days if not weeks until a problem is solved, if it even happens.
Ola K: The lady in the reception saved my life! She managed to register me within 10 minutes while I was in an emergency situation, I believe her name was Habiba. She was so lovely and nice as well!
Blue Velvet: Dr Mandela is not genuine person.
Haleigh Gregory: The receptionists are the downfall of this health centre. The fact that Victoria park health centre is the GP suggested by the university of Leicester is ridiculous given the service provided here. I recently had to visit A&E, where the service was also terrible, and when I finally managed to get through to a doctor instead of asking me about the pain I was complaining about she asked me why I went to A&E and 111 before the GP as if that was the primary concern. After this call the doctor told me to call the reception to make an appointment where I was able to without filling out the online form. I had to call again today to make another appointment as I am still in pain and the receptionist was rude and said I have to fill out the online form instead of her making an appointment for me on the phone whilst I had her there. I filled out the form for it to tell me to call and make an appointment meaning it was a waste of time. The fact that you can only make an online form for one problem is ridiculous. In other encounters the receptionists have tried to diagnose me instead of letting me speak with the actual GP. It’s a joke that this is the GP actively recommended to students.
Sheila Hanley: Just been into the surgery & spoke to a lovely lady on the desk called Jessar. She was very professional & so helpful. I have been in previously & the receptionist was quite abrupt & rude. What a difference. Here's 5 stars for you Jessar. Thank you.
amanda joyce: Filled in their online form to request an appointment. Could not complete form as it said I needed to speak with someone today. Rang surgery to speak to someone and was told it could be 48 hours until I could speak to someone let alone get an appointment. Just ridiculous. No wonder A & E departments are full of unnecessary conditions.
Callum Hearne: I have had to visit here several times over my few years as a registered patient and every time the service has been fantastic. Their system, once you know how to use it, it wonderfully efficient - they direct most people to use their web portal in order to give you advice on whether an appointment with your GP, self medication at home, emergency medical care or something else is appropriate for your symptoms. I have never found this to be in error, and one time in particular it directed me to A&E rather than a GP appointment which I would have otherwise wasted my time on.Receptionists are always professional and courteous and every interaction with medical professionals has been fantastic. The staff are clearly well trained and knowledgeable and I have found the GPs and nurses to be empathetic, professional and efficient.
