Caroline Gunn: Upholstery with Sarah is brilliant. Bring your own chair/chaise lounge and she will help and teach you the correct techniques for your item. Admin staff are lovely too. Lots of courses to choose from.

Mo: The first mental well-being festival was held at the centre. There were stalls and presentations related to mental well-being. The talks on happiness, dementia and social prescribing were interesting. Taster sessions were offered for some of the classes offered by the centre including Tai chi and singing. I think it was the first festival of it's kind in Surbiton. It was well organised and well attended. I hope success of the event will encourage other organizations to host similar events in the area.

Suzanne Seyghal Buckingham: Good venue, well equipped classrooms, nice cafe, helpful reception staff and even modern boards telling you which room your class is in, so a lot more sophisticated than the previous venues. Car park is very popular but there is bike parking if you fancy being green. Classes really depend on the individual teacher, I'd say - my experience of the French and Spanish conversation teachers has been excellent, especially the wonderful Monsieur Paul.

Graphic Design: BackgroundMy name is David Farra and I am a graphic designer from Epping, Essex.What led you to RHACC and when did you engage with usI have always had a passion for graphic design so I started researching colleges where I could learn and help to aim seek further employment. I felt that the Prepare for Work - Graphic Design course at RHACC would fit my needs very well as I wanted to understand the role and application of graphic design, research ideas and plan for a project. I started the course on 17th April 2023 and finished on 10th July 2023.What do you enjoy about RHACCIn the course I was able to explore different solutions of working in graphic design, through typographic choices, logos, posters, brochures, layouts, and colours. I liked that the graphic design course was limitless in its possibilities and which solution suited me best.If accessed, how did the 1.1 sessions with RHACC help you?My IAG advisor Lee was very supportive with me, I met with him on a regular basis and we discussed how my course was going and discussed opportunities that I could take after completing it. He helped me apply for a temporary graphic design position at Quilombo UK which I am very grateful for as has given me more industry experience, has helped to build my portfolio, and I am still working with them today.What stands out compared to anywhere else?The college has a very supportive and flexible attitude, the teachers, advisors, learning and wellbeing team offered me lots of advice whilst studying, and help with any other matters that I need assistance with.Did you gain anything else from your connection to RHACC?Learning about to how to work to a graphic design brief as it helps me to define goals, avoid misunderstanding, set standards and act as a reference point for both client and agency. I apply this knowledge to each project that I working on today and it has helped build my confidence.Any challenges you had to overcome whilst studying?The long commute from Epping to Richmond, it took nearly two hours to arrive to the college. However, it was worth it. The Prepare for Work - Graphic Design course has allowed to progress in the direction that I want.Any additional support you were offered to help with these?No.Other positive comments to share?Thankyou for my time here at RHACC, it has been a very enjoyable and helpful experience. I hope to come back and visit in the near future, and give some advice to other students if need be if they are thinking about what to do after finishing college.Anything we could improve?I felt that the enrolment process was very slow and took a lot longer than it should of done. When I got my student ID card the library didn’t have a proper camera and I had to take a picture of myself. The college wouldn’t accept card only cash, this was unhelpful as I wasn’t advised about this before the start of my enrolment and had go back towards the station to get some money out of the cash machine. These are definitely areas that I feel the college can improve as the enrolment for students needs to be more quick and efficient. Also having a camera and card machine would make life more easier as well.What next for you?After finishing at Quilombo UK I hope to find full employment in graphic design or in the film industry once the strikes are over.

They were amazing, knowledgeable and really compassionate to help, and they answered questions with certain examples and precise explanations.
