Claire Southall: I have trained in tae kwon do for years but learning lau gar kung fu from ken hault is great. The classes are fast paced, well taught, structured in a fun and technical way. All moves are thoroughly explained. The lessons are hard work but thats what you need! For self defence ken is one of the best instructors i am privileged to have trained under. Seriously check out Saracens!

Also park so obstruct my front door can you advise your customers to use your own car park and not mine..... Made a complaint they lied and said it wasn't them. My CCTV proves otherwise. I wouldn't recommend a martial arts gym that doesn't value morals or respect....

Frankie Harris: I am a student at this school and I think this school is ok. Except when I go outside, I hear students ( normally older pupils) swear and no one cares! When I go in a classroom, i feel gum under the table despite gum not being allowed. When I go anywhere, I see girls with a full face of makeup and more than one set of studs. It is shocking when Ofsted says "the students are polite",in reality, the students are out of control!

She joined 6 years ago and is now a black belt and such a confident young lady compared to before she joined, that's all thanks to AMA. I joined the fitness class Simply Fit and enjoyed it so much I then went on to start kickboxing classes too. I was nervous to start but now really enjoying learning to do something I never imagined I could do. The instructors are top class and it doesn't matter who you are, age, size, fitness level, you will succeed here because of the high quality tuition. It's like one big family and everybody there is so nice and has the same positive outlook. We love it!

dadofnoah: My lad has been going to Academy Martial Arts for about five years now. He started in the Ninjas Class (for 5-7 year olds and a fantastic class, possibly the best in the school!) and then moved into the the Kids Elite where he is currently preparing for his second Dan Black belt next year. Martial arts has been so beneficial for him. As its says on the wall as you go in: its easier to build girls and boys than to fix broken adults. How true, he's fitter (incredibly fit in fact), he's happy, more confident, more coordinated and more respectful and AMA have definitely helped .We were so impressed, and so nicely welcomed by the the staff, that three years ago my wife and I started in the Adult Beginners Class and now we are in the final preparations for our first Degree Black belts. The martial arts has had the obvious benefits for us, as well as being great fun and a great crowd of people who are now friends; we're fitter and healthier with must better cardio function and strength (and believe me I had to start at the bottom and work up, I'm no spring chicken and perhaps carried a pound or two excess when I started - not helped by 20 years behind a desk).But there are other less obvious benefits: when I started my back was weak and prone to problems. The emphasis on core strength and well supervised exercise has help so so much and now I feel I have a new back. But as a stress buster there is not better substitute - after a hard day at the office an hour of exercise and smashing the pads cannot be beaten (plus the quality of sleep after a hard session isn't to be sniffed at either).However, the biggest thing about Kick Boxing at Academy is that its never boring just a challenging hour of fun. No two nights are the same, there's a fantastic camaraderie as every helps and supports everyone else through the class. Come down, take the free intro lesson - you'll be hooked; we were.

Murray Kelso: It always sounds like a copy/paste advert when people say "suitable for all ages and fitness levels" but this really is. I'm 49 and started a couple of months back having realised that I needed at least some level of fitness to help with my middle-aged aches and pains.KMW is suitable for all ages and fitness levels - and I'm the proof. There's no pressure, no singling people out (just the regulars who are comfortable with helping to demonstrate) and nobody shouting in your face like a sergeant major. In fact Harj, who leads the class, is a softly-spoken fella who encourages and explains rather than bullies and forces you to take part. He's lightning fast and hits like a sledgehammer, though, so don't be fooled 😉Other than the age/fitness thing, KMW is a mixed class and fine for all shapes and sizes. It's hard work and you might get a bruise or two, but it's a contact fighty thing, so... you know.Well worth giving it a shot if you fancy doing something martial-artsy or just simply getting fitter without going for boring runs.

C: Absolutely awesome place. Everyone is lovely, friendly, polite and will take time to show you new techniques and tips to help you improve on either your Thai boxing or Jiu-jitsu. I've trained at regular gyms before but never had an experience like this. Just throw yourself into it, turn up, smile, get on with your training and you'll have a fantastic experience. Sean and the team are excellent and incredibly knowledgeable, would recommend UMA to anyone.
