Dudley Zoo and Castle: what do users think?

Martin Harper: We had a grand day out at Dudley. Zoo. What really struck us was how well cared for and considered the animals were. There was thorough and interesting information available, and the various habitats were clean and thoughtful. The staff and volunteers were all helpful and happy to answer questions. The site itself is pretty unique based around a castle on a steep hill, so the paths wind their way up to the castle giving you a real sense of there being something really interesting just around the corner. It is clear from some of the dated and slightly tired buildings and infrastructure that the emphasis is on the animal’s welfare, and that’s fine by me.

The site provides an enchanting experience of 300 years of Black Country history where you can discover the wealth of stories, experiences, and archives of such an important place in Britain. The properties that have been built, artefacts restored, and re-enactments throughout create a truly immersive step into the past.

My two year old really likes the funfair rides except the enceounter with the planes operator who scared him. Apart from this, all other staff were so nice and helpful. Definitely recommend.

David Owen: now. Plenty of interaction from the member of staff. Even managed to eat a cob and drink a pint at the local school. Don't think the teacher was very please. Hence the Arrest by the local Bobby. a bit of a que for both chip shops and I have zero patience for that. but on the all, it was a entertaining evening filled with Brass Bands, Flame Jugglers and a bit of education thrown in to boot,

Priory Park: what do users think?

Billie Reece: Enjoyable morning walk

Brian Ely: We had a short visit to Dudley, had a stroll around the centre...an interesting mixture of old and new. As we were early to meet someone in Paganel Drive we left our car there and wandered around, not realising that we were in Priory park, interesting buildings surround the park and of special interest to us was a swathe of crocus under the trees a short distance from the ruins. Sadly I wasn't able to take photos for you to see as my screen decided to lock. We will definitely be heading back soon as there is a lot to see and do in the area. Not least Dudley Zoo and the Castle

Alexia Bin: Lovely park, we've had so many picnics with kids and friends!

BA Photography: Shot a wedding at the Priory Hall. Nice venue and the park and ruins make for a nice location to walk around and get some great couple's portraits.www.baphoto.co.uk

Sibangani Michael: It's an awesome place. Seeing a 1500 structure

Aisha Begum: You can walk your dogs here, can have picnic here as the park and gardens are really big and spacious also a castle to explore . Great scenery to.

kristian watts: I'm not sure where this is or when I went there, but my phone tells me I did, so who am I to argue

John Willis: This is a nice park, there's a nice playground for kids often they have summer events on here during the school holidays such as fun fairs and climbing walls etc. There is a little pond and considering how close you are to the town centre it's nice and quiet and peaceful. The priory ruins which are close to the park are a nice little walk with lots of history linked to them well worth a visit if you're passing, the area surrounding the park is not always the nicest so be mindful about leaving valuables on show in cars if you park up.They're are really good bus links here, easy links into Dudley and Wolverhampton from right outside the park.Just around the corner from the park they're also rentable tennis courts these have recently been refurbished.

Chris Paul: Absolutely memorable.

St James Priory Ruins: what do users think?

Amanda Byerley: Surprising, free historic find while we were in the area. A nice green space amongst the industrial estates, high buildings and concrete. Sets your imagination a light to think of what was once there a thousand years ago. Beautiful and tranquil. This should be continued to be cared for. It was a shame to see no information boards and litter in the water features especially as we saw wildlife and a newly married couple having photos taken nearby. Dudley Council you have something really special to show off here. Do you have park wardens or litter pickers on duty to show its true potential? Its also a real shame you've not protected the tiles in the ruins.

Pavla Pluto: Nice place for short day walk. Definitely not something where would you spend couple of hours. Close-by there is a playground so if you have children, take them there. Other than that it is good visiting this place while going to another place on the way. Parking is for free on the streets. Natalie Edwards: Lovely place to come for a walk with the kids and dogs and always very clean. They invest a lot of time and effort in keeping the gardens kept in good order and it really shows.

Tracy Whitehouse: Love this place. To walk the dog, ride your bike, just to take 5 minutes break, take the kids on the play area, play tennis or basket ball or even cricket practice in the purpuse built areas, even has a small dog friendly cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. The "rose garden" and the flower beds are amazing, not to mention the small sunken pond for the ducks, with its beautiful lily pads. It really is a lovely place, that hasn't been spoilt by modernisation. The "ruins" are also a lovely bit of history, that makes a wonderful backdrop for so many wedding photographs.

Woodie: A great place to have a picnic and play a little bit of frisbee.

Julie Taylor: Absolutely beautiful Hall & park- the Antiques Fair was fantastic

tracey peel: It was ok,a bit disappointing. Nice grounds.

Ken Murphy: We went there for the monthly Antiques Fair although we have walked part of the park previously, the antiques fair is one of the best one day fairs in the area with a good selection of antiques and more modern collectibles along with decorative items and a wide variety of jewellery and silver items. The prices range from a few pounds to about £150 £200 with plenty of reasonably priced items for an entry level collector and a good range for the more serious collector.Definitely worth visiting and then going for a walk in the park afterwards.

Chris Groucutt: Great Park

Ron Gwilliams: Visit a lot but went specifically for the Brooke Robinson exhibition which I miss from the Art Gallery, thanks to the volunteers who look after it

Julie Grainger: CAR PARK ATROCIOUS!!!! I would be happy if someone from the council drove out of the field carpark. The parking prices have gone up but I was surprised I didn't lose a wheel coming off. The potholes are a true car hazard. Advise DO NOTPARK ON FIELD if you can help it as I lnow I won't. Not worth damaging vehicles for. Surely you take enough money in parking to correct this.
