Village Hotel Dudley: what do users think?
P C: This hotel is absolutely terrible. I travelled from Canada for a family wedding. Most of the brides family was staying at this hotel for approx 3 days. I was very disappointed in the front desk service, the quality of the room was extremely poor and run down, towels were old and the bedsheets had stains on them, electric sockets were no where near a mirror, walls are paper thin, the elevators were not accessible - the elevator had been broken for weeks, we were never told of this issue in advanced - my senior family and small children had to struggle down the stairs daily. Not to mention the staff were not accommodating. In the middle of the night there was a fight on our floor which involved violence. I did not have a phone in the room to contact front desk to let them know what was happening. We were left praying someone in one of the other rooms would call the front desk or police. My family was woken up by the noise, night staff attended to hours later and nothing was resolved. The night staff were rude and minimize the situation. My small child was up most of the night. Hotel staff did not allow for a late check out - I had asked for an hour tops and we were told no.Beware of this hotel. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Steven Mahey: Where can I start? When thinking about staying in a hotel room (with the reputation that The Village has) you wouldn’t expect to be staying in a room that feels like you are next to the sun. It was absolutely boiling throughout the whole stay, even with windows wide open and the Dyson fan on max setting. By the way, the Dyson fan was shocking! I understand why it has been connected into the wall socket to prevent theft, but the positioning of the fan was also shocking as we couldn’t move it close enough for the cool air to be felt. Also, there was no glasses in the room - I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to include them before we check-in. Another thing, we was denied late check out as we were told “too many late check-out requests have already been requested and accepted, therefore none is available” This shouldn’t be a problem for us as it was the hotels fault they gave them out, and if we wanted a late check-out, the option should have been there. When a hotel doesn’t have a contact number for the reception/room service, something isn’t right there. We have to phone and go through to an operator who even had trouble herself contacting reception. Absolutely useless service!Walkability: Good distance to walk to restaurants and Tesco around the corner.Noteworthy details: TV, bathroom and bed was good.Everything else needs tweaking to make sure the experience is improved.
Craig Dubberley: Room was great, staff on reception were really helpful and friendly.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5 …More

Jo Rhoud: Very nice rooms need 4 star rating
Aimee Billings: Nice place, just a shame most of the drinks prices are over the norm for the area.
clifford charlesworth: Rooms: Need USB plugs for charging in roomsHotel highlights Great value …More
Nightmare Man: Came here for a Peter Kay tribute night. Great venue and food. But let down by terrible security. I've worked years as a Door Supervisor at the NEC, Wolverhampton Civic, and the function rooms at the Molineux in Wolverhampton. I'm normally very forgiving and defensive about door staff working a thankless job due to my experience in that role. But these door supervisors need retraining, and should be in the job for reasons other than a mini power trip. The job is mostly customer service based. Not harassing guests, then making up fake laws specific to Dudley when confronted about their wrong doing. Wont be returning until the Village finds a competent security provider.
Dave CAPTbanjo Walker: Noisey. You can't sleep with the window open because of the proximity to Birmingham Road. Police sirens and idiots in cars driving like they stole them. People slamming doors at all hours. Take ear plugs if you sleep lightRooms: 3/5|Service: 2/5|Location: 1/5 …More
Andrew “Heatshield” Ridley: Nice place, the rooms are nothing special. But comfortable. The restaurant staff are half-soaked, young kids with no personality. Food expensive, but well cooked.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 3/5|Location: 3/5 …More
Joshua Hammond: Bedroom facilities were excellent and staff were very friendly. The bed was comfy and the Dyson fan was a bonus. Would definitely go again and recommend

Etelka Kovacs: Had a great stay here with my partner great rooms, service, and lovely comfy bed. Also had a lovely breakfast next morning. Really enjoyed our stay. We would stay here again. Only one thing the lift wasn't working so had to lug our bags up to our room. So please get the lift fixed ASAP. Thank you.Rooms: Nice and clean and comfy bed.
Kam Braitch: Excellent service from staff really helpful great hotel not to keen on the room it was dark not bright bathroom dark not bright lighting.Food & drinks: Good
Sarah I: Lovely stay!Room service was late - really disappointing seen as bad to phone to down to remind them about it.Would stay again!
Lin Walford: We joined the village to just have a nice leisurely swim, the pool is cold, we complain but nothing is done, a lot of the ladies are a little older, and have joined for this reason, needing the warmer waterRooms: 1/5|Service: 3/5|Location: 3/5 …More
Kelley Backhouse: We've stayed in lots of village hotels around the country and this was by far the worst the showers in the pool area had mould build up food in the restaurant was ok but definitely not the best I found the staff not brilliant in customer service and to top it of I saw 3 rats running across the car park disgusting it has really put me of staying with you again

Good size portions and well presented. Nice selection of gins and great service. Breakfast is nice with a comprehensive buffet selection.

Bed comfortable and fantastic view overlooking the waterfront.Food & drinks: Food was good especially breakfast. Lots of variety/choices. The bar area is lovely however not very well stocked. We asked for glass of wine but waitress told us they didn't have much choice at the moment. Didn't ruin our meal though so no big deal.Noteworthy details: Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. In particular Vikki in the restaurant, she greeted us every morning with a little chat. Very helpful too was the male receptionist on our first night sorry didn't get his name, we reported a problem with our room and no quibbles moved us to another room straight away. Room was tidy and clean thanks to Emma.
David Grainger: We had a 2 night stay. It was 5 star accommodation. Rooms were clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing for the money. There was so much choice and couldn't fault anything. The breakfast items were replenished quickly so you were not waiting for anything.Vicki and the team are a credit to the hotel and I will be returning in the future.

Richard Byatt: Great hotel with great rooms, the daytime staff were brilliant and so were the night time staff, the receptionist on the front desk was so pleasant and professional when calling my brother and sister in law a taxi at almost 2 in the morning even though they weren't even staying at the hotel. We will definitely be staying here again and might even try a more luxurious room tooRooms: Brilliant spacious roomsNearby activities: Lots of bars and restaurantsWalkability: Easy to get to amenitiesFood & drinks: On site bar and restaurant
Beverley Goodband: Fabulous stay at this hotel, only 1 night sadly but will definitely go back again. Staff super friendly & helpful, nothing too much trouble. Breakfast amazing, hot, well prepared, plenty of options. Only gave 4 stars for the room as there was 3 of us but room only set up for 2 people & I found a piece of what was possibly garlic bread under the bed, quite mouldy so had been there a while, only found it as I dropped my phone.
Joshua Hancox: Stay here for work at various times during the year. Rooms are always clean and staff are friendly. A special mention for Shelley, she is a fantastic waitress and nothing is too much trouble during evening meals. Silverdale Hotel: what do users think?
Mazhar Rehman: Can’t really rate hotel , as when I called was told they don’t to short stays anymore !! I guess this should be stated somewhere so don’t waste time thinking it can be bookedRooms: 3/5|Service: 3/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Bradley Sainsbury: The little.homely touchs made it perfect
Will Burke: Lovely quaint place with absolutely lovely owners. Car park for guests, lovely good sized rooms, wifi, nice bathrooms, everything super clean and well kept. I've stayed at a couple of places in this area and Silverdale is super nice, can't recommend enough.
Peter petercooke63@hotmail.co.uk: Lovely place room was lovely decorated cleaners nothing was too much trouble for the owner would highly recommend
Graham Fordham: Arrived on Friday 12th at 3pm and was meet by the owner Jackie who showed me to my room then told me about the safety regulations of the Hotel. That was the only time I saw her or anybody else for my whole stay. The reason for my trip was to visit the black Country Living Museum which I was told was about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the hotel, I only managed it once as it was 45 minutes away, the rest of the time I had to get taxis at £4.20 a timeThe hotel did do breakfast but it was only a continental breakfast which one had to pay £3 extra for, this was on top of the £75 per night that I had already paid. The reason for me paying £75 per night was because of the 1940s event that was taking place that weekend, the price is usually £60 per nightThe room I had was on the ground floor number 5 which was clean and airy, with a good selection of tea and coffees. The bathroom was a good size although the corner shower was a little on the small size if one is on the large size. I have always been used to large bath towels being supplied in other hotel/b and bs that I have stayed in however on this occasion the bath towel was just a little larger than a hand towel. As already stated I only meet Jackie the owner for 5 minutes so I can’t give an opinion on that aspect of my stay. All in all I was a little disappointed with my stay at this hotel,I was expecting so much moreWould I stay at this hotel again.......Probably not
Paul Boulton: So polite on arrival and so clean and tidy lovely place would definitely stay again secure parking and just a homely feel we was welcome to bring our own food back and use there cuttelry and plates
Cathy Cooper: Lovely well equipped rooms, clean and pleasant host
Myrna Hawkes: nice
gc1234: Perfect apart from no restaurant.
Geoff Curtis: Very friendly and welcoming family run small hotel. Clean and spacious rooms, highly recommended if you're looking for a home from home atmosphere
Peter Smith: I liked this place. Its an old style guest house. Very clean. Car park. Friendly owner. But, no frills, don't expect a full English breakfast. Still forewarned etc. The only drawback is the local taxi service. I was unable to get a taxi back from the Peaky Blinders event at the Black Country Living Museum and had to walk back.
Gundars Amols: Great place
Kate Renton: thank you for a comfortable nights sleep.
Richard Smith: Intimate hotel, good size room with all the usual facilities. Continental breakfast available in the room. Parking at the rear. Convenient for local attractions in Dudley and various eateries , including the famous Mad 'O' Rourke's Pie Factory. On busy road with some traffic noise in the front rooms but not a problem between rush hours
James Teasdale: Really friendly and helpful.! Very pleasant

The Belfry Hotel & Resort: what do users think?
andrew monkhouse: Visited today and played the PGA National. I last played here about 8 years ago. Very disappointed. The fairways were hardly distinguishable from the first cut, no doubt why we were told to lift and place across the course. The prices in the bar and at the halfway house were extortionate. There was work going on in the car parking area and a smell of sewage - not sure if these were related. Considerable disturbance as it looked like the old night club was literally being demolished today. All in all it wasn’t a disaster but just not at all what I remembered.
Fahad “Ferdy9” Malik: A very old hotel with lots of facilities. If you are looking for a quiet spa break for couples then this is not the place to go. The spa facilities are too busy even on a weekday and the massages are nothing to write home about. Feedback was provided but response was "this is how it is" so won't be visiting ever againRooms: 3/5|Service: 3/5|Location: 3/5 …More

Jeannette Rodgers: My husband and I bought our two children (primary school age) for a day of relaxation to end the Easter break as a family. I'd heard a lot about this place from friends who bought their children before, so I was keen to try it out with my two. We paid £199 for one day's stay on a Friday (it is cheaper if you book mid-week).The grounds are undoubtedly visually stunning (the children loved the fountain, especially the way it glows at night) and we were taken aback by how beautiful the place was. The first thing we did was take the kids to the pool which was lovely (aside from broken lockers), and they have two jacuzzies too (not for children under twelve, which my youngest was upset about as her older brother could use it and she couldn't!). Lovely sauna rooms off the back of the pool. A perk was the food in the Ryder Bar which was absolutely amazing quality, particularly for dinner where there was a children and adult buffet. The latter was full of healthy options including fresh fish, salad, fresh bread, soup, and mains, with a separate dessert menu. The kids buffet had all the usual favourites - pizza, chips, pasta, and also had some healthy options, but our two also had some of the adult salad which they said they preferred. Kids loved the fact there were puddings to choose from in their buffet and could sample everything independently. Breakfast was a mix of continental (with ever so soft pastries and muffins, juices, cereals, yoghurt, fruits, berry compote, etc) and cooked. Service was lovely and the staff were amazingly calm given how busy it was at both dinner and breakfast!I do wish I could give it a 5* review, but I don't feel it warrants it at present. Firstly, the family rooms had two twin beds pushed close together (fine) and a sofa bed for the kids that was so uncomfortable they couldn't sleep on it, so we didn't get a great nights sleep. For the price and the size of the rooms (which are incredibly spacious), we would have preferred two actual single beds for the kids (which is an option in much cheaper hotels) and not a sofa bed (not all siblings want to share a bed, particularly if they are different genders). The sofa bed just was not comfortable at all, and the children said it was really hard, which was a real let down and not what I would expect for the price we paid. A bedside lamp was bent/broken in the room. Aside from this, the room and bathroom were lovely and clearly high end (particularly loved the ESPA toiletries in the bathroom). Secondly, I was a bit disappointed that the children could not join me in the spa to have a simple treatment like a manicure or a pedicure, or a facial - I understand the reasons for this, but for the price I think that perhaps this should be an option as children like spa treatments too, and children are allowed spa treatments at other (cheaper) venues we have visited as long as they are accompanied. I was disappointed to be told this wasn't the case here. Thirdly, although the hotel had a sweet trolley (big thumbs up!) and other activities for the kids, the woodland walk was a bit muddy and it looked like it was still being built in areas. It was also incredibly disappointing to see the mini golf area had stagnant, smelly water in places and bird poo on the holes that were under the tree - this is a health hazard waiting to happen, and again, for the price I would have expected much better.Overall we really enjoyed this hotel, and will definitely return in the summer to give it the chance to get a 5*. It was close, but I think that (understandably perhaps) the hotel/spa do not have a primary focus on children and families, so these little details did mean we felt something was lacking for the price we paid. The fact that the hotel offers family promotions to those who want to bring their children during the holidays is amazing, but for the price, I want to see that the above areas are rectified. Nothing faulting the quality or service, but rather niggles that need to be addressed for clientele with children to want to return.
P Mac: The staff are great. The golf facilities are excellent. Three courses ranging in price and difficulty. The courses, like the grounds are lovely. The grounds team deserve praise as they do an excellent job despite the challenging weather. The buffet is delicious with lots of options and great staff. We upgraded the room again for a very reasonable price. The belfry does some excellent ‘offers’ direct through their website making a stay more affordable. The room had a fantastic view of the brabazon, chairs and a table on the balcony, though a few flowers in the flower beds would be a nice touch. Unfortunately, the room was not the cleanest. I would say that it was isolated to the room but disappointingly, the spa facilities are similar. If the management are reading this, please take the time to properly inspect. I think a ‘deep clean’ of shower heads, floors, door locks would help, walls and ceilings too. I raised the room issues with the hotel reception staff, who were excellent, professional and friendly throughout. They immediately apologised regarding the room and offered to remove the upgrade fee we had paid and tried to make right the issues raised. They were also flexible with us moving an afternoon tea booking and a golf booking. I cannot fault the response from them. I believe her name was Katie. It’s a shame the spa staff don’t have the same level of service as the rest of the hotel and facilities.Overall, it’s a lovely place. I would recommend it and will go back. Just think that the standard wasn’t quite there this time. Last time was fab.

Timothy Guidotti: A great rainy day trip to The Belfry with the family. The Spa/Leisure club was fantastic especially the Fore & Ice experience - makes you feel great! Lauren was very friendly. Tim H: Spent the morning // afternoon here! Wow! Incredible food, service, and leisure facilities! Alison, Zach (bar area), Christine and Lauren (Fire and Ice) looked after us so well! Thank you for making it special for our Family Bank Holiday day out!
April: Came for a spa day with my mom as a treat as we never been to one before. Can say it was a great experience from the fire and ice experience to the afternoon tea and treatments. I have a 4 star review just because we got sent up stairs to use the lockers and the woman in the spa Kelly was really rude about us using the lockers. Apart from that the service was fantastic, I had Katy do a facial and neck and scalp massage, the experience was amazing and she was so lovely and listened to my needs and skin concerns.Food & drinks: Afternoon tea was amazing, great choice of sandwiches and cakes.
Carol Johnson: I was treated to a spa break as a birthday gift from my Family. The service and staff were fabulous, but the room needed a little TLC. I've never been anywhere that you could look into other people's bedrooms from your window.Rooms: 3/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Matt R: Despite being a local it’s was first ever trip to the Belfry, my partner surprised me with spa & stay package. Upon checking in, Dawn was super friendly & provided a great service, she kindly upgraded our room & gave us a drink voucher whilst asking about us in general. The friendliest receptionist I think ive ever met.None of the following reflects on the staff, but if you go to the lovely bars on site for a drink it’s £7.70 for Guinness, they add 70p on for walking ten steps to your table - absolutely disgusting “service charge” & prices are more than what I’ve paid in the Savoy London. Sort it out Belfry! The other thing was for a so called 5* resort the rooms are a bit fancier than a premier inn I was surprised not in a good way. Breakfast isn’t cheap but it’s a an ok choice. Overall would I return maybe for the spa but otherwise no, they need read the reviews & listen to the customer who feel like they’re being ripped off. Oh if you want room service they will charge £4,95 for tray service - feels very stingy. Thanks again to Dawn!
