Ashbourne Camping and Caravanning Club Site: what do users think?

Ian Pegg: , Karen is there if you need her, but in the main leaves you o get on with your stay.In summary, yes the site does need some investment

steve shuff: Been coming to Ashbourne camping and caravan park since Avon Estates took over. We absolutely love spending time here, great location for families, everyone is friendly and Karen is very helpful and attentive. The site has hard standing pitches and a great camping field. The kids loved exploring around the site.I saw a review that was very negative about the site and all that it offers, well I would totally disagree with Jonathan, showers were always cleaned and plenty of hot water, dishwashing room was clean. The grass was cut regularly and certainly not ankle deep,The site offers decent sized pitches, a safe environment.Safety: Very safe for familiesWalkability: Lovely walks from the site

Dave L: Stayed here last year but noticed it’s no longer bootable via ccc%%? Is this site still operational

Joseph Clarke: Lovely clean site. Pleasant views and easy access from the pitches to toilets and other facilities. There are some lovely little ponds with a maintained path around them which takes you through some beautifully wild areas. Close to Asbourne town centre and other local attractions in the area. Highly recommended.Playground: Playground and small football fieldDog-friendliness: Dog walk area.

Christine Mulligan: Lovely quiet campsite, only issue couldn't get wifi to work as no signal

Carsington Water Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite: what do users think?

Stephen Davenport: It's a caravan site in a pine forest.brilliant place.Location: 5/5 …

Laura Collins: Location: 4/5

Cliff Green: Location: 5/5

Maggie Taylor: A lovely campsite in a beautiful woodland settingLocation: 5/5 …

Susan hazlehurst: we have just come back from a beautiful 14 nights stay in our caravan. the toilets and showers were always clean and the staff are very friendly and happy to help in anyway they can.. the last couple of nights we were there wasn't very pleasant with the noise of slamming doors until11pm but overall it was very quiet..not sure where there was a notice up in the toilets about the 10pm onwards quieting down times.. Monday morning a coffee and pancake van turns up and pizza, burger and fish and chips van on separate days of the week which are well worth eating and enjoying! Plenty of leisurely walks of the surrounding countryside..

Jnib: to the trail that runs around Carsington Water. The amenities block is large, heated with plenty of toilets, showers and wash rooms along with an in-door dishwashing area and small laundry facility. Everywhere is very clean, well maintained and in excellent condition. Even though the site was busy, the facilities always had capacity and no one ever had to wait.Overnight the site is generally very quiet, but aircraft can be heard into the early hours and then start again before 06.00. The driveway into the site is quite long and the main road, quite busy during the day, has little traffic over night. It's also far enough away from the pitches to not really intrude. There are also owls in the area and we heard these every night of our three night stay. There is quite a lot of wildlife in the area. We saw green woodpecker, nuthatch, tree creepers along with blackbirds and robins. We also heard a firecrest, but didn't see it. There are plenty of rabbits and a few squirrels to be spotted too. All good if you're staying with young children, but may cause a bit of barking if you have a dog.If you are staying here with a view to doing some cycling or walking, it's possible to access footpaths and cycling and routes without having to do too much or even no main road. We cycled to Ashbourne and also walked round the reservoir and didn't need to spend any time on main roads. There are also a couple of pubs within walking distance

Diane Mc: . Paddleboards were also available. It included hire of wetsuits and buoyancy aids. It's a lovely site set amongst pine trees but sadly there isn't a pub within walking distance which would have been nice.

Rob Edwards: Beautiful location will definitely come hereLocation: 5/5 …

The Firs Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite: what do users think?

John Patrick: Nice site, about an hours walk into Belper, which is the nearest town. Spanker pub 1 mile away serving drinks and food. Heage windmill 2 miles away, ambergate train station 2 miles away.

Sabine Martin: Wow! Lovely small campsite with fantastic views. If you brought your four legged friend as we do there is a small grassy dog area next to the forest where you can let your pooch off the lead. At night time we heard an owl and watched the train go by in the distance all lit up. It was magic. The facilities are cleaned to a very high standard and I personally thanked the owners for such an incredible cleanliness to pass onto the friendly cleaner. It is a quiet site where the kids can happily play on their scooters. We will definitely be returning and can highly recommend it if you are looking for a quiet spot to relax.

Barry Potter (OZ): Great clean and tidy site spotless shower block very nice wardens.the only thing I would say if you stay here for any length of time there is a busy road passing this siteSo expect some road noise depending where you are pitched..Others have mentioned Rude wardens That is total rubbish they are very nice and welcome you to the site it is kept very niceIn all areas we only stopped for a night but would have been happy to stay for longer

Ian McKinley: . A dog area that's leadless on site, but no immediate walks from the site. The site is very clean and well run, with lovely views. Trains and speeding cars/bikes can be heard from the A6, and neighbouring houses were very noisy on our weekdays here with some construction work taking place. Belper can be walked to in 45mins on pathless roads, but we'll worth the visit. A pub serving food and real ale is much closer in the opposite direction

Dawn Eades: Lovely well equipped clean and friendly site hope to visit again soonLocation: 5/5 …

gerard mac gann: Great campsite spotless and well maintainedSafety: Well maintainedWalkability: Great walks

Julia: Very nice site with flat hard standing. Plenty of places to fill up and empty, and rubbish bins. Nice dog walking area. Clean bathrooms with plenty of hot water. Nice views. Didn't explore the area as only stayed one night. Roads approaching the site are narrow so be careful. Well looked after site. Expensive and hostess grumpy. Told me to wait in my car until my husband arrived with the motorhome even though we'd already booked and paid. Don't some people have more than one vehicle?

Ian Garrod: Enjoyed staying, great Wardens, well maintained site.

Shirley Millican: Nice quiet site with plenty of places to visit in the car. Very friendly wardens with a wealth of information as they live local to the site. Very cleanLocation: 5/5Hotel highlights Quiet …

Darren Driver: We had a 9 night stay here the views are stunningNot far from MatlockThe road to the site is very steep but manageable on exit with the caravan in tow

Dawn Biscoe: We stayed here in August. I have never stayed on a site with such beautiful views. Owners were very nice. All you expect from a CL site the only negative was currently not recycling, not sure why... But that is how it is since COVID. Thank you for a beautiful holiday we will be back again one day too.

Steven Matthews: We've been caravaning for a little over 10 years. A mixture of caravan club sites and cls. This has to be the finest location we've been to so far if your after stunning views. Absolutely spectacular spot with spacious fully serviced pitches. We will be back.

Ian Whitaker: Lovely quiet site with beautiful views. Fully serviced pitches which makes life alot easier

Christopher Hardy: This is a fantastic location. The views are superb. West facing for spectacular sunsets. The pitches are very generously spaced with each site having running water and drainage. The driveway, whilst being steep is an easy drive as it is rough solid concrete, no slipping tyres on gravel etc. This is one of the very best sites we have visited.Thank you. Chris

Ray Meadows: Love this site. Booked extra 2 days. Weather been good to us. Views across the two valleys are beautiful.

F C: Really lovely spot on a working farm.Beautiful views across the valley, with incredible sunsets. Five pitches in total and very spaced out, so even when full, feel that sense of being away from it all. The facilities are well situated and marked out. Joolz and Tim are fantastic site owners, and went out of their way to be helpful to us at every stage of our stay. Spent 11 wonderful nights here and can highly recommend.

Dawn Snowden: Beautiful views.

Hall Gate Farm Camping and Caravanning Club site: what do users think?

Julie Porter: Lovely site. Well maintained, quite, secure (you need a code to open the gate. It has a toilet and a shower as well as a water point, a chemical toilet emptying point and rubbish bin. Very nice friendly owner.Dog-friendliness: It's a working farm, so dogs must be on a lead.

Libby Mould: A lovely peaceful stay.Stayed one night on way home as holiday was finished early as our collie had a stroke the day before. They made us very welcome and found a pitch for us at the last minute. A little gem we discovered by chance we will return. Hopefully with our collie who is making a slow recovery.

Rosie Loki: Looks absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful views and wonderful sounds of nature

Barry Overton: Super quiet site with nice views over the valley. Good facilities,we will visit again.

Chris Taylor: Lovely site on a working farm wc and shower really clean Really peaceful ✌Great for a short break escape

Alexander Blades: Very nice quiet small working farm CL site for mohos and campers. Adequate services, toilet and shower but like most small sites, these are simple and shared. Don't be confused by access if using sat nav as likely to direct you through a housing estate and then small lane to farm gateway. Despite being geographically near to housing development, it has a loverly peaceful feel with views across countryside and beautiful sunsets. Hosts very helpful and may find free range eggs for sale. We'll situated for Hardwick Hall and Chesterfield plus the Southern parts of the Peak District.

Linda Jennings: Fabulous site with stunning views, pitches are large and very quiet. Lovely to have cows in the next field.

John Adams: Lovely quiet site...flat ,grassy and West facing with hard standing.Shower and toilet.Beautiful sunsets .

Keith Johnston: A really lovely site with all necessary facilities. Warm welcome, nesting barn owls and stunning views. Oh, and guinea fowl. You won't be disappointed.

David Metcalf: Beautiful little hidden gem. Peaceful.

Rachel Nash: Enjoyed our stay. New hard standing is a great addition. Very peaceful and extensive views. Short walk to the local amenities and easy reach of Hardwick Hall and Chatsworth. Our dog loved trail walks too which are in walking distance of the site.

Angela Whitmore: This is a Camping & Caravanning Club certified site. It is adults only but pets are welcome. Very peaceful with views over Derbyshire. This was our first time in a caravan and this was a great spot to come for the practice.

Gill Pickersgill: Amazing lovely owners

Pop P: Lovely quite adult only campsite basic but adequate facilities owners very helpful and obliging.Recommend

Sandra Lobato: Walkability: Beautiful woods to walk through nearby!Hotel highlights Quiet, Great value …

Jake Nickell: ! It was very quiet and peaceful all night which I cannot say for some other campsites I've visited. The facilities are not top of the line, but they get the job done and I had no complaints. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and will definitely visit again if I'm traveling in the area.

Ian Hodgkinson: We had a one night stay in our Campervan over the Easter weekend. The site has fantastic views over the Derwent valley. There’s lots of space and very clean facilities.
