Middletons Steakhouse & Grill Colchester: what do users think?

Danny Davis: Lovely food, however too cramped almost on top of one another. Interior is a bit scruffy looking also. This fad of Bottomless Brunches all restaurants seem to be doing will bite them in the end. We had to wait at the front door while the restaurant literally poured 10 to 12 very drunk females screeching at the top of their voices out of the door. Not something you want to encounter when you have come for a quiet dinner and spend upwards of £120. Please sort that out, or you will lose custom.

Beverley Robinson: The Sunday roast is the best in Colchester 🙌.The staff are brilliant and super helpful.1400hrs Sunday 4th Feb 2024Kid-friendliness: Fantastic menu for kids

Johan Zegers: It's a nice restaurant, with an big menu for meat eaters. Besides that, plenty of options for vegetarians.Staff is nice, it was not very busy but it took a while before dinner was served. Food was well cooked, tasty and good portions.Maybe visit the table one or two times extra for ordering extra drinks.Parking: Need to fill in your number plate at the booth inside. Otherwise you will risk a parking ticket.

James: Great place for a leisurely lunch, good choice of salads, pasta, rice and breads. But the star is the bbq meats, all cooked to perfection and arriving at your table for your enjoyment. So difficult to pick a standout but the beef ribs were unbelievable.Cannot fault the friendly staff and warm welcome

samantha Neill: It was our first time here for my husbands birthday. We had booked a table and in special comments put it was his birthday, you can also upload a photo so they can greet you on arrival, this wasn't acknowledged in anyway, so don't bother with this. That aside, the service itself was great, so we didn't mind paying the service charge put on our bill. The food was served hot and plentiful. We loved the cold buffet variety, I am fussy and found lots to eat. The fresh lemonade was soo refreshing and now a favourite all round. We will be back to enjoy again!

Lee Newman: Throughly enjoyed our meal here today - the all you can eat meat was delicious & the buffet had plenty of vibrant & colourful options. I also had the Rio bottle Beer which was incredible, hopefully I can find it in the shops! The staff were all very welcoming, the chap who served the meats was very polite and professional. Fiona was also very friendly & provided amazing hospitality.10/10 - we will be back!

Jose C: The meats were really tasty. Fiona took the time to check the allergen tables for gluten free and there was a good selection. All the wait staff were friendly. Thanks!Dietary restrictions: Decent selection of gluten free options.

Paul N: a long overdue return visit to this wonderful little restaurant in my old home town. The food and atmosphere were as good as ever - always busy no matter what night of the week you visit and booking is essential. The fillet steaks, peppercorn sauce and large cut fries were superb whilst the floater coffees rounded the evening off beautifully. Finally, a special mention to the delightfully enthusiastic and professional young lady who went above and beyond in looking after us - you are a real credit to the restaurant. Thank you and hope to visit again soon.

Wiebo Grobler: Without a doubt, the best restaurant in Colchester and hands down the tastiest steaks with massive sides. We come here each year for our anniversary and this is the 11th year and the food and service remains 5 star. If you don't leave with a massive smile on your face, there's something wrong with you. The portions are massive and the steak is the best I've ever had.

tina koeck: Great food, plenty of it, wouldn't have ordered a starter had I known how large the plates of food wasWheelchair accessibility: I doubt you would get a wheelchair in here, the reason I gave 4 stars instead of five was because it is so snug

Greg Salthouse: A cozy restaurant with a vibrant atmosphere. Steaks are the real feature of the menu but one of our party had swordfish which was perfectly cooked. Our steaks were cooked exactly as ordered. Rare was indeed rare. Portions were huge and sharing side dishes and starters is advised, as is taking the leftovers home with you. Staff were helpful and intuitive. The wine was not astronomically priced. Will return here, thank-you.

Dan Sullivan: Fantastic Thursday evening out. Delicious food and huge portion sizes. This place never lets us down. Moussaka had great flavour. It's always packed so book in advance especially for large groups.I had the smallest steak and it was still huge.Ordered a side of sautéed potatoes and peppercorn sauce which came in bucketloads.

greta shean ne Morgan: We’ve just had an amazing meal at Miller and Cater, the food was so good and very well presented. What made our meal so special was our waiter Kris, he was so professional, and looked after us so well. It was lovely chatting with Kris throughout our evening. It was lovely to hear him speak so highly of Miller and Carter and how much he loves his job.We were celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary, a lovely touch to the end of our evening was a happy anniversary written on a plate with ice cream on the side.Kris really is a credit to your company. Thanks for a lovely evening Kris.

Chelsea & Daniel: Went for dinner tonight for my birthday with my fiancé and had such an amazing experience. Our server Charlotte was amazing and deserves a raise so friendly and super helpful. Shes a credit to your restaurant. Was given a lovely plate of goodies for my birthday too. Food was absolutely amazing and would definitely come back. Best steak I’ve ever eaten.

Sharon Presland: We visited for mothers day, food was delicious albeit a bit pricey, only thing that let it down was the service was a bit slow. But staff were very helpful. Parking can be an issue at busy times.Parking: Small parking area, people double parked. One in, one out!!

Karina Edgeway: Was taken here today for a birthday treat and what a treat it was. Food was amazing, service excellent. Woll d3f go backVegetarian options: CGood selection

Claudia Brooker Loubassa: The food was gorgeous, the service excellent. However, at the time to pay it was bitter-sweet.The waitress added on our bill a tip of 10% of the total amount of what we should pay.We planned and gave a tip but we don't like to be pushed to do it and pushed to give 10% of our note.We don't think it is a fair way to increase their income.Could you review your way of doing.Thank you

Jo Chaundy: A good atmosphere and layout. The bar is a nice addition, for a pre- / post dinner drink.Catered for my husbands OMS dietary requirements, and he was pleasantly surprised to be given an adapted menu for him to have a choice

Juliet Borges: We had a really lovely family lunch to celebrate our mums 91st birthday. The food was lovely and the staff were all really friendly and helpful. There were 10 of us and the table and the area we were in was perfect for a relaxed and fun meal. We were also allowed to take in our own birthday cake. Very happy and we will definitely go back.

Rick Woodrow: Often you go out for a roast and you think, yeah thats nice but the meat is naff or the spuds I make at home are nicer or it is generally missing something. Not this place. Took my staff here for our Xmas do, 3 course slap up bonanza. Kicked it off with the arancini balls which were juicy & flavoursome, everyone else on the table ordered soup and prawn cocktails which were all polished off. The main came out, absolute beast of a turkey roast. Crispy spuds, succulent meat, pig and its blanket & some of the best cabbage my little mouth has ever been fortunate enough to consume. Good selection of veg, great portion sizes and good amount of gravy which is often an issue when going for a roast. 8 mains were served and 8 empty plates went back to the kitchen. Apple and berry crumble for dessert, stone cold classic. Creamy custard, hot fruit, scrumptious. 1 vegan on the table also who's dishes were altered to cater for her requirements, she was very pleased.Lovely atmosphere, often for Xmas meals i find restaurants cram in as many as possible which can be hectic and uncomfortable. We had space around us, servers had time for us when we needed them and overall was a relaxed evening.Great food for a fair price. Would highly recommend and will visit again.

Kirsty Jarman: This was a bit of a whim after collecting a market place purchase. OMG what a find, the staff are genuinely lovely and the food Wow to die for. Will be recommending this for sure. One of the nicest pub meals I’ve had in over a year 😋

Brian Pugh: A busy country Pub/Restaurant on the south side of Colchester. We were welcomed and shown to our seats. The menue was varied plus a good selection of 'Specials'. Although busy, our meals were soon served and each was delicious and freshly cooked. Too full for a sweet we are are looking forward to a repeat visit soon.

Benjamin Breadman: The food was delightful I had the roast lamb which was cooked beautifully and the service by Kelly was second to none warm and friendly but not overbearing. We shall certainly return.Vegetarian options: I had a bite of my partners chestnut roast and that was delightful to even to this confirmed omnivore.

Michael Batson (MikeeB): Great play areaUPDATE: The outside area seems to need some attention since the last time I visited, always found it a pleasant place to sit and chill in the sun, but the grass is in dire need of a cut, benches and play area could do with some treatments, it's just looking a little forgotten, which is a shame, hope they get it sorted for summer.

Mick Tevenan: Went there to see if they were showing the West Ham game and was told they did not have Sky, still had to pint of Guinness, which was very good.I did leave but what I did see, it was very nice.Service: 5/5 …
