Rachel Harden: Mini swimming are amazing! My son started lessons as a non swimmer and within a few short weeks he was moving up a group. Sam is an incredible teacher. He forms a bond with your child and gains their trust instantly and you get to sit back and enjoy watching the progress your child makes. Sam has a unique way of keeping you involved and ensuring you understand the element your child is finding tricky and how you can support them at home. The Stanway pool is perfect for that first plunge into child only lessons. The small groups mean your child is known as an individual and not just a member of the class. I truly can not fault Mini Swimming and would recommend them to everyone.
Kia Millard: Really impressed with mini swimming. We had a guest pass from a friend and wasn't a question about booking a course. My 4 year old has been really nervous in the open water so decided she needed some lessons the teacher Siobhan has such a good energy and thus our little one has had so much fun she has forgotten her nerves.They have lots of parking, easy to get to, warm heated floors in the changing room. It's a really small pool but great for little ones.

All the staff we encountered were really welcoming and put us at ease which was great as I was a little anxious to begin with! Highly recommend

Becky O: My son is autistic has learning disabilities and is deaf Lexden pool are fab with him they reassure him and make sure he understands instructions he’s always reassured by the teachers when he’s feeling anxious groups are small which is really good.
Steve McMellor: My son loves his weekly Sea Turtle lessons. (Edit: initial review written for free session reward) He is making slow, steady progress as the sessions seem very random and rarely follow on to build on the previous week. The teachers are always encouraging and patient but don’t always explain things clearly. My son tells me he finds it frustrating that just as he gets something, rather than practice and improve, the following lesson jumps to something completely different then by the time they come back to it often weeks later he has forgotten. Not bad as he is slowly learning to swim but could be so much better if there were clear targets and joined up progression.
Setric: Very very traumatic experience🤪🤪 My youngest son william jr recently attended this fine institute and he drowned💀💀An instructor namedy Sally sat on him😮. i would add a photo but after traumatic resuscitation he moved to Australia with his aunt. However 10/10 experience i highly recommend to all.
Betty: We’ve completed three terms, but the last term we’ve been really disappointed. Felt like our daughter was doing the same thing every lesson and really only get around 20 minutes of swimming.Feel they are not very organised or clear in their communication.Disappointing end to our last term really, so we’ve decided to pay for a private gym membership where we can use their pool and teach our daughter to swim ourselves. This ha still worked out cheaper than mini swimming.Since we’ve done that she’s been more engaged and enjoyed swimming more.

My first son started almost 10 years ago and we returned with my youngest about 6 weeks ago having our grown the Stanway pool. I was amazed at how “new” the pool still felt and it was amazing to see how well maintained it had been. A credit to the staff and it is amazing that Mini Swimming now have different pools to support the children’s progression. Sam is an incredible teacher. He forms a bond with your child and gains their trust instantly, allowing you to sit back and enjoy watching the progress your child makes. Sam has a unique way of keeping you involved and ensuring you understand the element your child is finding tricky and how you can support them at home. The small groups mean your child is known as an individual and not just a member of the class. I truly can not fault Mini Swimming and would recommend them to everyone.

The facilities are brilliant and Tiffany is a superb teacher who really connects with the children with fun filled, quality lessons - we have seen our little girls confidence grow each week which is wonderful. We are very lucky to have such a great swimming club on our doorstep and will definitely be enrolling the rest of our children for lessons once they are a little older.

The only negative was parking i tried to pay through an app but struggled, so when I went to say we were here the guy said it's free parking you just put your car reg number in a pad as you go through the turn style.
C “Tornadoman” Kelly: Not ware you have to book this online, the reception guy wasn't very helpfull just said you have to do it online you can't book through the reception desk,We booked it one in the end and found out they have got rid of the pound lockers, so you have to buy a padlock which you can either pay the £5 for a padlock from them or while you wait for your session nip to pound land and costs a £1 for a padlock never know this think absolutely stupid policy this place has implemented.In certain areas the maintance needs to be address, especially on the slides as the green ide you have bits that have dipped down and the silicon sealant is coming out.The corners and steps were grimey and dirty going up to the slide area and there was dirt on the floors in the changing rooms so the place needs a deep clean,The actual pool could of been bigger but for the amount of people in the pool just not big enough, the temperature of the water was not the best but understanble with the cost of gas these days.The hot tub spar were slightly warmer but still not a hot tub, they were been used by other families to warm there little ones up after they had Been in the colder pools,Lifeguards not very talkative just sit there but fair enough.
Mikko Jay: What a disappointment the fitness pool has become. Having left Colchester many years ago and visiting the other week, I was shocked by the standard of the fitness pool (the blue stuff is messy) especially for the price. Lane management is poor, supposed to be 6 lanes, was 3 large ones. I expect better for a city compared to what I'm used to. Clearly stripping costs and maximising profit rather than wellbeing of users. Wouldn't come back.
Dan Jeffs: Went to the swimming part of the leisure centre and had a blast, it’s mostly online bookings with time slots most likely due to its busyness. Polite and friendly staff, clean and tidy centre and good value for money. Car park will be busy, so be prepared to hunt for a spot midday! Parking is set to 4 hours stay if you use the iPads and put in your number plate in.Overall a superb day out and will defiantly be visiting again
Frankie van Loo: Have been a few times recently and is now my weekly go to place. Having tried other pools in the Chelmsford/Braintree/Witham area this is by far the best for my 3yr old and myself. Good mix and size of swimming pools, shallow & deep. Plenty of interaction that gets my daughter interested in swimming. Good to have a large slide that young children are allowed on whilst wearing inflatables. Crazy river is good fun and great for teaching about water currents. Unlike previous comments I think underwater cameras are great idea for safety in the water.

Ben Anderson: A mixed bag. Been for a member for a few months. Reception staff are lovely, management seem utterly incompetent. Overall Aqua Springs is managed well, the spa pools could do with being a bit warmer and the changing rooms floors are a disaster.The fitness pool (what I mainly joined for). Needs a massive clean, the skirting of the pool is disgusting. No one wears over-shoes (even I have given up, most regulars have resorted to buying sliders). Parents from swimming lessons, walk through the showers with their boots on and no-one cares. Sometimes there's about 3 tight lanes on in some sessions and its chaos. As a previous member of Tendring leisure centres, these are much better run (and the centres were actually built before Colchester Leisure World).The worst of all, the changing rooms in the fitness pool can often smell of urine, which is concerning considering your about to get in a swimming pool.I can't believe as Colchester's only 25 metre swimming pool is in such a state like this. Aren't we suppose to be a city?The gym 10/10 managed well, induction was well thought-out and always clean.

The price for a family ticket I would expect alot longer time slot 90 mins!! especially that you have to queue for the slide at least 15 mins a time. Our time slot we managed 4 slides and once around the wave machine part. Cleft feeling ripped off and very disappointed children will not be returning for this fact. Time length really need to be addressed if we were to return.

It's just a big NO for the money they charge. Go in your garden and dip into paddling pool you'll get more out if it seriously.

Tesseract Orion: Sited next to a private school just off the A12 (and not really in Lexden at all) this sports and social club has a swimming pool, 5 squash courts, small gym and three outdoor floodlit tennis hard courts, plus bar and snack area.The building housing it needs some TLC as it's quite old and a bit ramshackle.Fairly pleasant location though you can always hear the traffic nearby.A sort of down-market David Lloyd's really.

Leila Ford: Received such poor customer Service throughout my sons swimming block. Owed a lesson due to staff sickness. They have closed their office and I have no idea if I am supposed to Go next week or not and already been told they don't allow refunds. I am not happy. Steer clear - problem after problem and the facilities at Astley Cooper school are undesirable.

Sally nunn: We moved our girls to swim with me from a very large class where we were seeing very little progress and they really didn’t enjoy going. The teachers just seemed to watch them swim width to width with very little tuition. Within a couple of weeks for moving to swim with me our eldest was swimming and my youngest who’d previously hated swimming starting enjoying lessons too and in the end swam much earlier than our eldest did. We’d highly recommend swim with me. Fabulous teachers, reasonable size groups and overall superb.

My daughter loves her lessons and improves every week which is not only down to her confidence, but the understanding Natalie has in my daughter's abilities, knowing when she can push her that little bit more to get the results we as parents are looking for. The classes are of a reasonable size, are well structured, with a variety of equipment available, and an appropriate level of discipline is used if needed (safety in and around the water is high on the agenda with SWM). We would highly recommend SWM to anyone looking for swimming lessons...first class company and always greeted with a warm welcome.

Johnny Hood: We were members here for around a year, and I can honestly say it was not worth a single penny.For a family membership, you will be set back over £300 a month. This gives you access to the gym, pools and "spa".The gym equipment is low quality and out of date and the actual gym floor a hazard. There are obvious areas where degradation has occurred on the surface and I suspect someone will either hurt themselves or fall through into the cafe. On raising this with a member of staff (who was too busy chatting to a friend) he sniggered and ignored it.The "spa" is a farce. The sauna occasionally worked, the steam room smelled like a vape shop and I honestly don't think the ice room worked once. The Jacuzzis were on a timer, supposedly not a single electrical engineer in the country could get a simple relay switch to work, which meant you sat for 5 minute intervals sans bubbles in a mild cocktail of bacteria and chlorine.Further to this the general maintenance is shocking. Literally. I was electrocuted by a hair drier that then disintegrated in my hand and scalded my 3 year old daughter.For the cost of a monthly payment on a golf GTI, buy the car and drive as fast as you can in the opposite direction.
Simplify my Home: Would be good to have some signs, DL offers to use any club, but none are sign posted, so you walk around looking for pool, changing rooms, showers etcEV charging for just 2xcars

Brad Wendes: I have never experienced such disregard for members in any health club or gym I have ever been a member of.Once they’ve signed you up and tied you into a contract the club couldn’t care less for the satisfaction or experience of the members.A few issues we’ve experienced includes; Incorrect information communicated via app or social media with no apology given nor corrections published, price hikes without any improvement in member experience. Guest passes expire after a short period and use of them is incredibly limited. When our membership payment was taken twice one month it was not only difficult to contact the club, the communication was terrible and it took a great deal of chasing to rectify a mistake that absolutely shouldn’t have happened in the first place.There’s also no easy way to contact the club, and no straightforward line of communication to discuss any issues. When issues are raised or complaints made via the app, they are simply ignored.The Colchester club doesn’t even adhere to the membership terms as published on the David Lloyd website, and when the incorrect information was queried I was promised a call back, after almost 3 weeks and no contact it’s clear that David Lloyd Colchester do not care about the satisfaction of members, nor their own obligations.The gym equipment and facilities are as expected, I also can’t fault the instructors and Personal Trainers. But speaking as someone who has worked in the leisure industry for over 20 years, I have never known a club to care so little for the member experience and show such disregard to paying members.

Decent bar but limited beverages (esp. alcohol), overpriced of course.Patrons can be a bit snobbish IMO.There are complaints about how well managed the club is.It's also over-subscribed, especially for tennis sessions.Lockers require your own padlock, amazingly, in this day and age!Children are a nuisance a lot of the time.Gym is nothing special and the classes are the usual generic ones you can get anywhere.Nice pools and jacuzzi.The hard courts are coated and offer good grip and bounce. Not a huge fan of the super fast carpet courts though.Bubble in winter is good, and not freezing cold like Essex Uni!

Andrew Jackson: Colchester is oversubscribed , very hard to get parked or use exercise machines, continuing petty thefts from lockers, dirty indoor jacuzzi be prepared to wait over 15mins to have a coffee brought to your table. Unresponsive management.
Benny Hill: They have 2 tennis club sessions which although nearly always fully booked have been cancelled for much of winter due to the lack of outdoor dome. All the other tennis sessions are paid sessions, they’ve reduced the amount of fitness classes but despite all this prices went up 10% this year. It would be cheaper to get a tennis membership at different club and join Clarice house spa all for the same price of being a member here. It’s a shame because if managed better it could be a great health club
Mark North: The club looks nice, but trying to book a tennis court is almost impossible! Only 6am or 9pm available most days. Bubble courts have not been put up yet and it's January. They were supposed to go up in October. DO NOT bother booking a tennis membership as you won't be able to make use of it due to the over subscription.And they raised the prices mid-contract!

Jack: Joined 3 or so months ago and already received a price hike in excess of 10%! Unsurprisingly all in person and on the phone communication has been changed to in app only which takes an hour for the chat to bug out and get sent to the back of the queue again 👍. £300 a month to not be able to talk to anyone?Offering 2 week free passes over the Christmas period which has caused the club to be mobbed and barely usable, doesn't really live up to the sale point of "exclusivity" when literally anyone can join without charge whilst paying customers are receiving hikes in their bills!?Swimming pool is completely filled with children and swimming lessons until 7pm. Water quality doesn't seem to be great.Spa area and gym have been clearly far too busy over the past month.Kitchen constantly has shortages, dirty dishes left out for ages and general cleanliness is not great.Children are left unattended in club area.Work area has people constantly coming in and out and those just in there for a chat. Internet does not work with VPN's/ remote desktops so can't connect securely with work laptops and there is no phone signal so you can't use that either. So not much use.Services generally seem to be getting worse with prices increasing.
Airborne BASE: On sign up be sure to get any membership benefits in writing as once you have paid David Lloyd will not honour any promises made by the sales team to entice you to join. This is a common complaint from members and one I have experienced. The local gym are reluctant to communicate (ignore emails and telephone calls but told in branch that is the only means of communication), this has made the gym experience a poor and frustrating one.

Terrible service!I phoned to ask if they could order a replacement pool liner, that would need to be ordered via their wholesaler, who would in turn obtain it from the Canadian manufacturer of my pool.The response I received in their own words were "the senior engineer says they are too busy". Too busy to help a stressed disabled customer to obtain a replacement pool liner? Clearly I am not valuable enough to be your customer and if this is how you treat people then you are a company that should be avoided at all costs!
