Safari Childcare: what do users think?
Ione Brownlie: My son joined safari childcare in September, right from the off the staff have all been incredible, I had some worries concerning my son and they listened and took everything on board, they went above and beyond to help us, since being at safari he has flourished, his language has come on ten fold and it is so lovely to see!He loves going there and has a brilliant relationship with his key person.I couldn't ask for a better nursery for him to begin his educational journey! I will be forever grateful for the support that they provide not only to him but to myself as well!My little girl has had a few settling in sessions ready to start and they have made both of us feel so at ease for this new chapter were both about to embark on! She already seems super comfortable there!Really puts my mind at ease 😊
Emily Cooper: My son has attended Safari nursery since august 2021. Due to being a lockdown baby and unable to attend many social settings the nursery have really helped with this and in the last few months especially we have seen him come on leaps and bounds. Any issues we have had Safari have worked with us to resolve them quickly, and I cannot speak highly enough of his key person and other regular staff within his room, they are always keeping us updated and reassuring us in terms of any concerns we may have about his development etc. we have particularly noticed his social skills, eating skills and speech have come on really really well and I put this down mostly to his attendance at nursery. my son now looks forward to going and Is always very happy when I go and pick him up. I would highly recommend safari childcare.
Sarah Marshall-Gibbs: My daughter has just started going here. From the initial show around, all of the staff have been so welcoming and friendly. My daughter is a lockdown baby and they have been incredibly patient with her. They’ve worked so hard to make her feel settled. Her key worker is just amazing & is also so easy to talk too. You can tell all staff have a passion for what they do and that they do truly care for the children. The difference in our daughters understanding has already increased so much and she’s really come out of her ‘shell’. We can’t wait to see how much more her learning journey will progress if this is the difference in such a short amount of time.
In The Purple World by Wioleta Shaw: Good nursery, my little one feels there amazing and is always happy to be there. Stuff is helpful, especially my little ones key person. The best part is camera view, you can check constantly your child is up to.
Zoe Buck: My daughter has just started going here. All the staff have been so friendly, welcoming and patient with us from the start. They truly care for the children and that shows. My daughter now can’t wait to go in and I’m so grateful for them. The rooms are clean and as tidy as they can be with toddlers running around! There is so much for the children to do in their rooms and they have a big garden space with lots of equipment for all ages.Highly recommend.
Thomas Rowe: Inflexible on payment dates even though parents pay 1 month in advance, which they admit could be financially challenging for some parents. There is also no ability to flex the dates that childcare is given, even if you advise 8 weeks or more in advance.I'm genuinely considering taking my business elsewhere.
Emma Pomphrett: Safari is a lovely nursery with great facilities. The staff provide activities and education using themes for that time of year. my child always has a great time and has learnt so much since starting. I feel they have taken time to get to know him and provide him with activities and learning which interests him. I would highly recommend.
Lianne Mallows: The staff at Safari are so friendly and welcoming. They have made my little ones experience at nursery so positive, he loves going and has a great relationship with his key workers and friends. He loves the activities, exploration and fun he has in each session and his key worker always has time for us at the end of each day to let us know how he’s got on that day full of positive praise and next steps when needed.
Shannon Wiffen: Positive:Professionalism,ReliabilityThe staff are excellent with the children and my little boy settled in very well and very quickly with them! He can never wait until it’s time to go back!
Jessica Richer: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Reliability,Responsiveness,Value
Victoria Radnor: Safari has been the best choice we made for are daughter. She has been so happy there and is constantly encouraged to grow and learn in exciting fun ways and is always so excited to tell us about her day and everything she’s done. The staff are all very welcoming and support the children even once they have moved onto the next class. Shelia provides fantastic meals and healthy snacks with a huge choice in menuBest decision we made
Gemma Edwards: Amazing nursery my 2 year old absolutely loves it.. Great communication from staff aswell
Lucy little: Safari is amazing my youngest son has been at safari childcare for nearly 5 months now. He started there with very limited speak to virtually nothing and has starting saying words and talking to us in his own way. The staff are amazing they really have helped my son since being their with his development , perseverance and patience. The food is always home cooked and healthy. I love the cameras so I can check on him whenever I want .I can’t recommend safari enough .
Ray Halls: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Reliability,Responsiveness,ValueOur little girl attends here and absolutely loves it. She gets so excited going into the building. The staff are great and very patient. It's a much improved experience to her previous nursery.
Hayley Jayne: The staff at Safari are brilliant with the kids, they are so caring, helpful & non judgemental. My son get so excited when we're on our way to Safari, when he arrive he bursts through the doors! I think this nursery has been brilliant for his social skills and he has learnt so much since being there, they are always making things, baking or getting outdoors in the garden. I highly recommend the staff here & the added bonus is they are so flexible too, open all year except for Christmas.
cameron day: I reccomend this nursery to everyone, very welcoming and creative, really gets to know every little detail about my son wich means he can get the best out of his learning experience. They always go the extra mile for both parents and children, very supportive.
Tom Healy: My daughter has been attending Safari Childcare for just over 4 months now and I could not recommend the setting more. As soon as we visited we knew it was the right setting for our little girl and she thorough enjoys her days there and has developed so much since starting. The setting has a lovely homely feel and standard of cleanliness is amazing. All the staff are so welcoming and friendly who go above and beyond with everything they do! The feedback they give daily as well as regularly updates is very thorough and they really make you feel part of your child's learning and development. Both the indoor and outdoor environments are full of a variety of different resources to entertain the children and the nutritional food on offer to meet dietary requirements is superb. Having tapestry to see online observations is great as it allows us to access her development level regularly. Without hesitation, I'd recommend this nursery and give it a worthy 10 out of 10! Keep up the great work.
Stefanie Wyatt: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Reliability,ValueI could not recommend Safari enough. The staff are professional, caring and go above and beyond to ensure the children get the most out of their time there. The nursery is well equipped and they handle every situation with care and complete confidence. The best choice I have made for my little girl so far.
Kirsty Bullock: Couldn't be happier with the warm, caring and professional service provided by the whole team at Safari. They are a joy and it remains the best choice for our little one.
Emma Grimwood: My child has been with safari for just over 1 year. He started at the age of 2, but in November last year, a tragic accident happened which led us to pull him out for a break in the new year. We always said to Chanel that we would send him back to pre school in the hope that he would of course go back. My child has now gone back, (September) to pre school. The first few times he was tearful, and scared but all thanks to the girls at safari they have re stored his faith in pre school and he has realised pre school isn’t scary and it’s so much fun! The girls at safari are always professional. Kind, caring and seriously incredible with my child, of course with the other children too. Oliver always comes out happy and smiling telling us about his fun filled day at safari, and about sheila’s yummy food! Oliver especially takes a liking to Kirsty Marissa, Kirsten amy and Sophie in the pre school room and that is simply because of all the care & comfort they have given him since being at safari. My heart truly bursts knowing he is back at safari and is completely happy! I cannot put into words how thankful I really am to all of the girls, especially the pre school ones. Oliver thinks the world of the girls there, and us as parents do too! I cannot put into words how thankful we really are. I wouldn’t want Oliver anywhere else. Thank you again xx
lorraine huckle: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Reliability,Responsiveness,ValueAn exceptional nursery who care tremendously about the children who attend but also their parents. They go above and beyond. I’d highly recommend.

Munchkins Nursery and Forest School Pre School: what do users think?
Ceri Law: I have one child that used to go to Munchkins and is now at school and one who is currently in the Acorns room. For both of them we've been so happy with Munchkins - staff are enthusiastic and supportive, the environment and outdoor resources are wonderful and communication is really good. Most importantly, they have both really enjoyed being there, and have had developed fantastic relationships with their key workers (Lottie and Teigan both deserve to be singled out for praise!).
Abbie Cole: Fabulous environment that is so much more than a nursery! The staff go above and beyond to make the setting homey, comforting but also adventurous and promotes independence. My two children have absolutely thrived here, learning new skills, independence, confidence, outdoor adventures and social skills that we are over the moon to see.Thank you Munchkins for all you do for our two, and in particularly Tiegan, Kayleigh and Abbey who have all been incredible key people to our Munchkins!
Emily Wood: **one year on** My son is still thriving at Munchkins. The staff are absolutely top tier, nothing is ever too much or too difficult (including my sons ever evolving complex allergies & intolerances). We are so incredibly impressed & even more grateful. Thank you Munchkins 3My son started at Munchkins Wivenhoe in September, so he’s 3 months in & he’s never been happier, he runs to nursery every day!The staff are incredible & always go the extra mile to keep the children entertained & happy. The garden is absolutely fantastic & used all year round. He particularly enjoyed yoga last week & loves climbing the trees in the garden. Actually he loves everything about Munchkins to be honest.Thank you for changing our lives for the better Munchkins.
Holly Birkett: Amazing nursery and preschool! My daughter absolutely loves it here and is thriving, All the staff are very welcoming and provide fantastic care.
Nancy Bryan: A fantastic nursery where our daughter has really thrived. Wonderful outdoor space, great curriculum and above all, brilliant staff. Huge thanks in particular to April and Emily for being such attentive and caring key workers.
Gemma Hayhoe: Amazing nursery and preschool, the staff are exceptional and so attentive to the children. Our son is thriving and absolutely loves attending.
Jaime Tung: My husband and I are thrilled with the level of care and the quality of education our three boys have received at Munchkins Nursery. We moved from London to Wivenhoe primarily so that our nursery and pre-school aged children could attend this fantastic setting - my only regret is not doing so sooner. In comparison to his London nursery, our eldest has thrived at Munchkins and grown both in confidence and in learning. Their Montessori/child-led way of guidance matches our gentle parenting approach. The staff create a psychologically safe yet stimulating environment for the boys on a daily basis, with a gorgeous outdoor and indoor space to do so. Nursery staff have been quick to address our concerns over our children's initial settling in process and respond quickly to queries. I have felt listened to and valued as a parent. I have seen all three of our children build resilience and be gently challenged over the past six months they have been enrolled at Munchkins and I would recommend it to anyone.
Hayley De'Ath: Great nursery for my daughter who started when she was 8.5 months old. Settled in quickly with the lovely team in Acorns Room. Staff are helpful and their communication is brilliant! Themed weeks are exciting and something to look forward to. Tapestry updates are regular and offers peace of mind throughout the day. Food is varied and my daughter enjoys what is provided. Thanks to the Munckins Team - a very happy mummy, daddy and 'munchkin'!
Gemma Foulkes: Our eldest boy has been attending Munchkins for over 2 years now & he absolutely loves it! He is always so excited to tell us about his day 😀The nursery has a great outdoor space for him to play & explore, I’m always blown away by the amount of fun things he gets to do all in one day. The recent refurbishment inside is just amazing. The staff are lovely & their communication is fantastic.
Anna Sturrock: Can't say enough wonderful things about Munchkins. Orla (4) has been there for a year and runs in every single day grinning. The staff work so so hard and give lots of updates/pics on tapestry. They are so caring, fun and creative - lots of arts, crafts, nature based activities, role play, games. It really does feel like an extended family. Orla will miss it so much when she goes to school!
Louise Bloor: My daughter started when she was 3 and has been at Munchkins for about 8 months. It's a great nursery, lovely location in the park and with good outdoors area, the staff are very engaged with the children and really take the time to get to know them. They plan lots of activities, this month they have been making bird feeders and learning to climb trees safely, with handouts sent to parents and carers suggesting how the learning from these activities can be built on at home. There is great communication with parents via email, the Tapestry app and parents evenings. And I cannot thank them enough for everything they have done to remain open and (so far, touch wood) not to lose a single day due to the pandemic.
Ben Knowles: Natalie and the team at Munchkins are fantastic. As first time parents and coming out of the COVID pandemic, it was so daunting to leave our son as he'd not been without one of us until then at 13 months. The team have made us feel welcome and at ease every step of the way and were so patient with us. Daily updates of how he's doing, we can see the improvements in his progression at home too! Was all worth pushy through the tough first few weeks leaving him as he now loves seeing Leanne in the morning and runs in without hesitation. Thank you Munchkins ❤️
Libby Johnston: My son moved to Munchkins in June 2020 due to COVID and his other nursery not reopening. I was nervous about how he would settle, as he was at another nursery since birth, but everything was handled so well! My son is thriving and absolutely loves it. I am very happy with the move and we look forward to the next two years with Munchkins.
Kevin McGowan: I took my 4 year-old to nursery this morning. It’s his last day. Four years of nursery school has flown by, as it does for all parents I suppose. His time with Munchkins Nursery in Wivenhoe has been full of adventure, learning, caring and friend-making. The staff have been the most caring and nurturing that we could have wished for. I’m just going to pick him up for the final time. I think the warm welcome that we receive from all the staff but particularly the excellent Natalie will be sorely missed. We would recommend Munchkins very highly to anybody.
Tara Carter: Our little boy moved to Munchkins (Wivenhoe) in July 2020 after 4 months at home due to COVID. I was quite nervous about how he would settle after leaving his previous nursery and the period at home but everything has been handled so well! I can’t thank Natalie and the team enough. The staff are all so warm, kind and passionate and they have truly taken the time to get to know my sons likes / needs and routine - always being totally led by him! The nursery it’s self is warm and homely with a fantastic garden and brilliant range of resources. The communication fantastic and most importantly my son runs through the gate without looking back every morning - he loves it and doesn’t stop nattering about the ‘magic garden’ as it has become known in our house. Thank you again!
Esther Simone: Positive:Professionalism,QualityMy child has been attending this nursery for 14 months and I am so happy with the care my child receives . All the staff are really lovely and friendly. The nursery provides great care and updates you daily with news on how your child is getting along. Highly recommend. Thank you 😊
Clare Balls: As soon as we viewed munchkins nursery, we liked it! the outside space is brilliant, really natural with a mud kitchen and a lovely yurt for story telling etc. we also like the fact it's a small nursery, not too overwhelming for the bubba's or parents! all the staff are lovely and welcoming, we get feedback everytime we pick our munchkin up and they use an online journal, so you can see videos and pics of what they have been doing at nursery, which is really nice. would definitely recommend munchkins to friends and family!
Sarah Gant: I couldn’t recommend this Nursery highly enough! My daughter has been there since she was 2 and had her last day on Friday! She has had an amazing time there and was very sad to leave! The staff are all amazing and take great care of the little ones and make you feel at ease! I love the fact you can just call up any time and ask how they are doing and that just puts your mind at ease too! The other thing I love as a working Mummy you don’t need to get anything ready in the mornings. Their bag is packed with essentials like sunhat and spare clothes but you don’t need to worry about Nappies or food it’s so easy! I would definitely recommend this to all!
Isabella Perugini: Such loving caring and attentive staff. I just love the Forest School. All food is home cooked and nutritious! I can’t fault this nursery at all. The facilities are second to none. Please do consider this nursery
Tina O'Hare: It has beautiful rural garden with extensive resources, pre school go to Forest school at least once a week, yurt in garden , wonderful staff- always attentive, healthy home cooked food, the children go to the park. It had a nature garden and quayside . Fabulous place

Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery: what do users think?
lina: Amazing nursery! Could not praise enough staff that go above and beyond their duty daily. The on-site chef is also the bonus, food is always fresh, nutricious and delicious. Thank you for everything
Manpreet Phagura: Outstanding nursery with great members of staff, highly recommended. They have gone above and beyond to care for my daughter. Monkey puzzle is one of the best nurseries in Stanway/ Colchester.
Nicola Jeffs: We have started Monkey Puzzle in the last month. Our child is shy and not forth coming with new people, taking their time to get to know them. From the start we have had nothing but positive experiences. The staff are friendly, thorough in the research on your child getting to know them before they start, making sure we as parents feel totally at ease with sending them into a whole new environment and the parent app used is amazing and keeps me at ease throughout the nursery days. Each day so far my child has happily gone into nursery, building a bond with the key worker and has come out happy. The facilities are vast, educational but also all about play for the children.Behind the scenes that back office staff are just as helpful, knowledgeable and nothing is too much trouble.I cannot recommend Monkey Puzzle enough for a nursery setting and am so glad that we found them. They’re a great team and that is evident in how my child goes in and out each nursery day.
Beth Deacon: Amazing nursery with a loving and inclusive vibe from all that work there. I'm always amazed at what our son tells us he has been learning and playing every day. I love how happy he comes out.Thank you to all the staff for being approachable, understanding and genuinely lovely.
Andrei Marian Craciun: My daughter enjoyed her nursery for 2½years and now she graduated and she had a lovely day with all her colleagues and friends partying and celebrating the event which was wonderful. She had great time going to the nursery learning, playing and making friends in a clean and safe environment with lots of toys and games. The staff was always friendly and helpful, the management is so passionate about what they do, offering to children the best time and experience, always being there for any concerns or worries we had. Thank you Monkey Puzzle Stanway.
Naina Ghosh: My son loves going to Monkey Puzzle nursery in Colchester and he even wants to go on the days when he's at home! The new room for pre-schoolers is beautifully finished and spacious. The children always spend time outside no matter the weather. My son only joined 7 months ago after being at his last nursery for 2 years and he has settled in very quickly. He is very fond of his key workers who are friendly, affectionate and competent. The pre-school children learn some sign language and Spanish (even we can learn, as well as learning how to be independent. The teachers provide a weekly lesson plan in advance incorporating various events into their teaching. They provide updates on the app throughout the day as well as clear photos of your child. They have recently introduced tasty, freshly cooked food from a local company and reduced the frozen food components. I'm very happy with Monkey Puzzle and I wish we had moved here sooner. It's much better than our last nursery in London. Kudos to Mr & Mrs Sandhu and his team!
Kayleigh Wilson: Such a friendly family feel, the staff always have time for both parents and children. My 1 year old son absolutely loves it at monkey puzzle he always runs in with a huge smile on his face, he loves his key worker and is always happy to spend time at nursery. He recently broke his leg whilst playing with his older brother and on his return to nursery I have felt 100% comfortable and have had no doubt that he is in the best care. 100% recommend MP Colchester!
catherine white: I wouldn’t even leave 1 star given the shocking and vile experience I have had from this nursery just now. I called up the nursery wanting to enquire about sessions and fees as I am looking at putting my child into his first nursery school. A man answered the phone I believe he was the manager of the company although this I am not certain of. I politely said hello and said “could I ask you Afew questions please about the sessions you provide at your nursery as I’m looking to start my son into nursery school” but before I could finish my sentence I was rudely interrupted he said “who is this ? And how did you get this number ? “ I said “I’m sorry is this the nursery ? Have I called the wrong number?” Shocked that a supposedly professional business is talking to a potential future customers this way it was far from a warm and friendly Welcome. He said “yes it’s the nursery how did you get this number ?” I said “off Google”. I was completely stunned that I was being spoken to this way with so much disrespect for no plausible reason. I lost what I was going to say as being spoken to so rudely and abruptly I told the man on the phone how rude he was he then said they have had a lot of scam phone calls asking about the nursery which I find utter ridiculous. I was just simply wanting to enquire about nursery sessions and fees etc and instead I was rudely interrupted and extremely disrespected by this man on the phone. I was not rude on the phone I am a polite person and having worked for customer service and reception experience for over 15 years I know how to conduct myself over the phone. Absolutely disgusting experience and I strongly advise this nursery to employee Someone who knows how to talk to the public with kindness and with a professional demeanour.P.S photos added to prove this is your nursery I called with todays time and date. Lying will get you nowhere.
Dayani Nirmala: My daughter has been attending Monkey Puzzle since 2020 and she absolutely loves it. It’s such a joy to see her growth and learning every day. The staff and the management are wonderful and so accommodating. As a parent i feel I have found a home away from home where she’s loved and cared for. I would highly recommend the Nursery to anyone looking for 5⭐️ Quality care for their child.
Ali Tuckwell: Our daughter has been very happy here. Staff are very kind and knowledgeable. Recent trips out to the park, shops and the library have been a lot of fun. Activities planned for every week are exciting and engaging for the children. Would certainly recommend.
alkeek27: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Reliability,Responsiveness,ValueThe nursery staff were very caring and professional.my baby loves the nursery so much, she always happy, also we notice a positive development in her social activities. We are happy taking our baby to Monkey puzzle nursery.
Barisi Kane: Since our daughter started attending here, she's grown leaps and bounds. She's very social, her communication skills have improved drastically and she's always very happy to go in with never a tear in sight. Her key workers are amazing and we get frequent, relevant updates about her progress.Whenever we've had any questions or concerns, the staff have been very quick to address them in a very caring, sensitive manner. In all I would highly recommend the nursery because our daughter is very happy there.
Edward Wagstaff: I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone. my son has been going here for the last 6 months and the care and service that are delivered by the teams that look after and manager the nursery are fantastic. i know my son loves attending this nursery because he runs into the door every morning. The owner Manjit is also super involved and continually check on your person experience. if you want to know and feel your child is well looked after and educated whilst in nursery then this is the place to be. Thank you to all the work there and look after my little man.
maria trif: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Reliability,Responsiveness,ValueAt least 5 stars for this nursery! Both of my angels attending and we are more then happy with progres, discipline, programme, education, etc.etc. !! Best nursery in Essex xxx
Mathew Varghese: My child goes here. It’s an excellent Nursery. The management has a great vision and good thought clarity on how to stay excellent consistently. I have seen and studied several nurseries in Colchester before deciding on Monkey Puzzle for my child. My child is a busy bee there and she loves to go there.
Sam Carter: My son has been at nursery for 3-4 months now (he started at 8-9 months old) can safely say sending him to this nursery was one of the best decisions we have ever made. He is excelling in everything since he started at Monkey Puzzle. The activities that they do are structured and vary every day. The children eat like Kings & Queens. The staff are so attentive to both your needs and your child’s. The bond that they make with your child is incredible. Everyone that work there make an effort and take time to get to know you and make it more personal than just a job. Our key worker Fay is honestly amazing. If you are hesitant to sending your child to nursery I cannot recommend this one enough.
Alyssa Garrard: My daughter was 11 months when she started at Monkey Puzzle and like any new parent, I was so anxious about leaving her, especially during a pandemic when she hardly had any other contact with anybody else! After a couple of months of hard work from her keyworkers, she now runs in and I don't even get a goodbye! I can tell she loves it there and she loves her key workers, which makes me feel so at ease and happy that my daughter is happy. She has been there for over 6 months now and I'm really glad we chose Monkey Puzzle.
Dani Stephenson: Our son has been attending monkey puzzle for almost 2 months now and he absolutely loves it! We can't even walk past the nursery without him crying because he wants to go in and play! The staff are all fabulous and send regular updates to us while he's with them so we know what he's up to. 110% would recommend to any Colchester parents looking for daycare ❤️
Bella eleen: The best nursery in Colchester.I strongly recommend this nursery to parents who want theire baby to be in safe place. The managers and the keyworkers are so helpful and so kind with us.My baby girl really like this place they have lots of activities for kids.everything is perfect there.
david clay: Our 3 year old joined the nursery in January 2021, having previously been to another nursery since she turned 1. We were a little anxious how easy it would be for her to adapt to a totally new environment, friends and teachers/nursery nurses. Our concerns were quickly erased by the warm, kind and exciting environment that Monkey Puzzle have worked hard to produce for everyone. She seems to really enjoy herself, while learning new things through play every day.We would recommend Monkey Puzzle to anyone.
Laura Lowndes: My son started at Monkey Puzzle in February this year. Both the management and the direct care staff are great. Sebastian has been made to feel so welcome and enjoys every day he is at nursery. As a parent away from home 3 days a week I am reassured by the care he receives. My son is at the nursery 5 days a week. Most days I am jealous of his menu at nursery. When we have had health issues with my son in regards to allergies the nursery have been responsive and supportive in making sure his needs are met. I have regular contact with Manjit and his team. The nursery have an open approach on all celebrations and he has been lucky to have birthday presents, Easter egg etc from the nursery. My son is always so tired when coming home from nursery. So this tells me he has an amazing day full of activities. Would recommend Monkey Puzzle. Thanks for you care and love for my son.

Colchester High School and Nursery: what do users think?
Joy Oakley: Our son joined CHS at the beginning of Year 6 and it has been the best move we have made for him! He has been given wonderful opportunities to deepen his strengths and nurtured in areas of development. The teachers have been quite magnificent and have given him a safe, happy place to thrive. Such lovely pupils too. Thank you CHS.
Logan Miley: Dreadful
Dylan Golding: Awful
Tom Williams: As a former pupil of this school I can only say I had a horrible experience, at first it was ok but then later on changes in the management made it worse and several teachers left. Some of the teachers had their favourites and I wasn’t fairly treated at all, I even once got in trouble for when someone provoked me and I did nothing wrong.Several things at the school weren’t dealt with properly at all, I remember of one incident there where a pupil managed to hack a staff members computer account and access sensitive student information.Once I left the school everything got better, I decided to go to a local comprehensive school and it was probably the best decision I ever made, much better choice of subjects and it did a lot better for me socially too, I even hit higher GCSE results than what CHS predicted, the truth is this school has very poor standards and I would not recommend to anyone.
Conor Edwards: Loved my time there, great school!
Helena Jones: Our daughter recently started at CHS in the Upper School. We have found the school very welcoming from the start and we (our whole family) are very impressed with our experience so far. Teachers seem very professional, competent and friendly. Our daughter says "The teachers are great. Their teaching style is fun, enthusiastic; strict, but fair". Facilities are good, although space outside the school is a bit limited. This, however, is compensated for by some excellent PE facilities at a number of nearby locations. The school goes out of its way to keep parents engaged and informed about the progress of their child. Parents all get a Firefly account and can keep track of all homework assigned and completed in real time. It is also easy to use Firefly to contact the teachers directly. The school makes a lot of effort to keep parents engaged through regular newsletters and updates, as well as school events such as the recent Christmas Fayre and the Carol Service. The PTA was welcoming and they appear very dedicated, passionate and hard-working.A big plus for us is the small class sizes (less than 20), which allows for more individual interaction between teachers and students. Another feature we really liked was the recent term report card, which used an innovative combination of colours and classifications to provide a solid multi-dimensional snapshot of our daughter's progress in the first term and how she was progressing towards the year-end goals. In general Academic results appear very good, with 70% of last year's GCSEs achieving a Grade 5 or better. As far as after school clubs and daytime extracurricular activities are concerned, there is a large variety and the teachers put in a lot of effort and time into ensuring that there is literally "something for everyone", for example Math club, Debating, Choir, Performance, Art club, Netball, etc.Our daughter is very happy. The transition from Primary to High school has been much more seamless than we expected. She made friends quickly, and really looks forward going in to school every day. We are very happy with our choice and look forward to an excellent few High School years ahead.
OpenView Education: We visited Colchester High School recently to provide our educational shows and workshops about friendship and respecting others. The school team were incredibly friendly and could not have been more welcoming. The students were thoughtful, respectful, and behaved in a very mature manner throughout the workshops and show. We were very impressed by both the students and teachers, and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thank you for having us and for being so welcoming.
Jonty Rhodes: I am happy to say that at last my child no longer needs to spend another day at this dreadful school having through his own endeavours achieved a decent set of GCSE results. If I could have posted zero stars I would have.Well qualified and enthusiastic teachers used to compensate for the total lack of facilities but each year has seen that diminish. The extraordinary turnover of the schools senior management team has resulted in a dire collection of individuals who would be considered totally unsuitable in any other school let alone one in the fee paying private sector.Although entry requirements are non existent the majority of the children attending are delightful and many have external tuition to supplement the poor quality teaching. Standards of pastoral care are shocking and when an angry staff member smears glue across a child's face for not cleaning a table properly you know that the place has issues! Many other parents have expressed their disappointment with the running of the school in recent years but it's always difficult to move your child away from their friends and it should be a good school- but it isn't.My advice is chose somewhere else from the start.
K ME: Colchester High School recognises and celebrates the brilliance of each individual child. Staff really care about the children and academically they help pupils to grow in confidence while challenging them to be the best they can. The site is a typical town centre venue so doesn’t have the spacious surroundings, grounds or parking of some private schools, but look past this and you will find a hidden gem of a school. My kids love it!
Cara Wild: My daughter recently started at the High School in Reception and I can already see a difference in her- she’s so much more confident in herself and her academic progress has been remarkable. The staff have been very welcoming and the communication with parents is first class. The children are being given a really well rounded education and my daughter always comes home with lots of positive stories about her friends and the things she has learnt.I highly recommend this school!
Zoe Easteal: My Children have been at CHS since nursery and have just progressed into Seniors, they LOVE their school. Thanks to all the staff especially the sports department.
tanya tariro: when do the year 10s get there reports this year?
Lorraine Weston: GYS STOP IT
Stephen Morrissey: i would think twice about sending your child here as I've heard recently that closure is on the way due to dwindling numbers across the whole school and poor GCSE results for the last three years in the senior school !
Ross King: Disgusting waste of money!! Do not send your kids here the staff are rude and the education is rubbish! They employ teachers who are to young and have no experience and the turn over of staff is so bad that you never know each year if you will return to the same teacher !! Parking is also a problem !! Moaning and rude residents near the school mean that it makes it impossible to collect your child / children as parking attendants are always roaming and I had been issued at least 10 tickets and I had a permit to park from the council for drop time but all activities as booked outside of your permit hours leaving you to pay for parking as well as fees. Go to a school that teaches your child / children the correct way to not waste your money as its a town school with no land for sports leaving the children cramped into small class rooms and this is not reflected in the fees!
Tracy Alexander: My son in currently attending and my daughter starts in September. Kate, the admissions co-ordinator is faultless in her job as are the other staff I have met so far. My son is very happy there and his confidence has really improved which means more than any reviews or opinions. I would recommend this school to anyone.
Anna Rogers: Had a lovely afternoon visit to the nursery, my son absolutely loved it! Children are adorable and very well mannered, my son can't wait to start his visits!
Kerian Noon: Results do speak for themselves2013= 96% GCSE this year 2014 86%You really are not that clever admission dept now is it Checks =? or is it Cheques =£ more errors yet again.Standard news paper dated Friday 13th June ha ha advert placed front page to open days for the 13th and 15th may ? What a big mistake to make ! More money wasted you can't make it up, well yes you do. Your showing all how incompetent you really are.It used to be a great school in its day . However it appears that the lower school has in the last 18 months had a large turnover of staff. My child has now left thankfully it was a school to be proud of. But it seemed to have more problems in the last 3 years with bullying and poor uniform dress code girls having skirts too short and the bad language heard in front of the younger children was not accepted. My child did achieve their GCSE,s although now if I had to do it all again I would send them to a good comprehensive school with a private tutor as I don't believe its now worth the money. It will be interesting to see how the sixth form goes and if staff are qualified too teach A level. As a lot of new teachers were young so newly qualified which are cheaper to employ. It is a business at the end of the day money is important . And one more thing why they have sent a badly formatted letter about the old boys club requesting £25 .Your a school letters should be professional it represents you now. I guess that was lost back in time ! You need to do better CHS.
hunt ethan: terrible a waste of money
Sarah Carter: Our only experience of independent education, having been very happy with state in the past. We wanted a secondary school that would celebrate and value the individual in our child. The surroundings were of little interest, we are not aspirational or social climbers who need a fancy setting. Also we were not prepared to submit our 11 year old to a life of commuting to Ipswich. We were looking for dedicated staff and a place for our son to breathe, grow and shine. We found it and feel it was one of our best decisions in parenting. I would not have sent a daughter there, St Mary's would have provided the same for them, but we feel our son's talents and abilities have been noted ,encouraged and realised . As he prepares to leave after 5 years,he is a credit to us and the school.

Wivenhoe Pre-school: what do users think?
Rachael Murphy: Highly recommend this pre school. Such a friendly, caring and fun setting. My twin girls loved coming here, they have now left to go to school but they had so much fun and developed close relationships with all the ladies who looked after them. They learnt so many new skills which has enabled them to be ready for all the new challenges of school. They have settled in to school really well, but still talk about the ladies and all the fun activities they did at pre school 😊
Nathalie Canfield: My son has been attending this preschool for over a year now and my daughter started this week. The environment is relaxed and welcoming and all the staff are so friendly. It's a pleasure dropping my children off here knowing they are happy. Highly recommend.
Emma Ford: A fun and friendly preschool. My son joined in March when we moved to wivenhoe and has loved every moment. Lots of different activitys for the children everyday and welcoming staff. Couldn't ask for any more 👌🏻
Zoe Williamson: A really good preschool, my son is always eager to go in and really enjoys his time here. Theres always a variety of different activities daily for the children to do, the staff are great and the children are always happy.
Mo mo Minshull: Fantastic, friendly, fun environment, my son has just graduated to big school with ease & confidence, this has all been possible because of his experience at wivenhoe Pre-school, I would highly recommend it.
Charles Norbury: Both of my children have attended Wivenhoe Preschool and have loved it!The staff are so friendly, nurturing and caring (my little girl still misses them and she's now in year 2!).Fun activities are created everyday and are really imaginative to create learning through play.
