Riordan: Went for an Anniversary lunch with the Mini Rodizio Grill. The buffet selection is always kept topped up. I like the change from ordering the sides to helping yourself to what's available, better portion control. The meat from the grill is always delicious. My partner filled up on sirloin steak despite not being much of a steak person usually.And finally, the Caipirinhas are delicious!
Katherine Alderson: Sadly despite 2 recommendations it fell very short, not because of the food necessarily but the service was poor by waiting staff - max 30% capacity so hardly busyMeat was forthcoming as part of the experience, but no do you want drinks, we had to seek them out, by the time dessert was offered we were passed the concept, no one asked if we wanted ought, literally shoved in the corner and told where the buffet bit was.. even had to search for the bill after an hour of waiting for some attendance as had given up on any offer of drinks, desserts, check it was ok the clearly didn’t want to be there staff! Also they clearly didn’t appreciate the ‘optional’ service charge at 12.5% being declined, despite leaving 5% for the abysmal service yet 3-weeks ago at another restaurant we not only paid the optional service charge but left an extra £20 as the table service was 200% extraordinarily fabulousOptional service charges are optional and will only be paid for good service which it was not in any sense of the imagination and spoilt the restWell done to the young curly haired lad, he was greatVegetarian options: Not enough options for £22 and not clearly labelled
Ruben Dougall: Service was good, food was great, meat was delicious, nice selection of various Brazilian foods at the buffet, different foods that you wouldn’t normally try elsewhere. Only issue is it’s quite pricey (even more so after the 12.5% discretionary service charge) but you do get what you’re paying for in both quantity and quality.
V V: To be honest, the place went downhill and I don't understand why. The floor was oily just by the salad bar which I find quite dangerous. The meat was ok-ish but we didn't enjoy it as much as we used to before.This was the second time I told myself to give this place another chance but sad to say we won't be returning unfortunately...

Keith Axon: Been to a few Brazilian restaurants previously and I like the concept of hot food, carved tableside and allowing you to have as much or as little as you so chose. The meat was well cooked well presented and regular.However, the price charged is a bit on the steep side. I've had the same for less, per head. Does the cost reflect the food and service, in my opinion, no it doesn't, and coupled with a service charge already added, I think it's overpriced.

Pete Gore: We've been here a few times and every time we decide to come back, we say to each other, it'll be better. Unfortunately not, this place is proper grubby, dirty doors and toilets and very, very unhappy staff. The service charge is a joke given there was only two of us. Food is half decent but feels rushed and lacks any experience. Very sad. Won't come back again. Wifmne is rubbish also.

David Allen: Easily one of my favourite restaurants in Colchester. Always a warm welcome, the food and drink are outstanding. Particularly the Edges brown and the home made bread with the starters. I've eaten here as a couple, with family, friends, and colleagues on various occasions and always had an excellent meal. Tobias Rowe: ’ve now visited Doga on a busy Saturday night with a large party and on a quiet Tuesday night as a couple, and I can’t wait to go back again. The food is absolutely INCREDIBLE, served in good time and hot off the grill. The quality of the menu matches the prices; it is good value and there is a wide range of choice. The owner is also lovely: she happily welcomed us as a large, tipsy party as a late booking and also spent time talking to us as a couple. Waiting staff are also polite and efficient, even opening the door for us as we left. With a clean, modern decor and warm evening ambience, this is the Turkish restaurant to go to in Colchester.

Younis Abdulla: Good pasta place. Only reason they loose a rating is they made an error with the order which meant everyone else was done with their food before my dish even arrived. I ordered a vegetarian dish and the dish they gave me had chicken almost took a bite before I noticed there were pieces of chicken. They apologised but didn't do much to rectify the error other than making the right dish. Kind of felt like they didn't care about the error they made.Would have expected more considering the prices.

Being a large party we had pre-ordered our food which was served up hot, tasty and very well presented. All the waiters/waitresses worked very hard all night and were very polite and helpful. The Chef came out to chat to all her customers to see if we enjoyed the food to which I thought was a lovely touch. It was nice to see a restaurant doing really well. This is a must try!!

Katrina: Wow, this place is absolutely excellent! The service was a little slow, but it seemed some of the staff were new, and it was a busy Saturday night so this can be forgiven. The range of fish specials was great, alongside traditional pizza/pasta, and the lobster & scallops dish I had was better than those I’ve enjoyed in high end restaurants - at a more reasonable cost too! Highly recommended, a hidden gem.

Great service from friendly staff and the food was great. Definitely recommend getting some good wine here too all for a very reasonable price. Em-Elle Kay Gee: I'm very surprised at all the excellent reviews which makes me think perhaps we went on a bad day.My husband booked this restaurant for our anniversary and we were looking forward to trying somewhere different. From the outside, the restaurant looks run down but the inside was much nicer. We were surprised to see that it was virtually empty at 7.30 on a Saturday evening but the staff sat us right next to a large table. As the tables were cramped together, it was difficult to get out to use the bathroom. The waitresses looked bored and didn't smile once in the whole time we were there. The starters were OK, nothing spectacular I ordered the seafood risotto which tastes like rice, tinned tomatoes and seafood. Not very exciting at all. My husband ordered a rare steak which was overcooked. The whole meal, including paying the bill took 45 minutes as there was no time to pause between courses, as soon as our cutlery was down, the next course arrived. The bill came to over £100 which we thought was steep given the good was OK at best and the staff were not particularly attentive. Overall, a disappointing evening and will not be returning again.

I’m sure the food would have been lovely but the smell was so off putting we felt it would ruin the taste of the food as smell and taste are connected. But I felt I wanted to give you feedback on why we didn’t stay as the restaurant seemed empty and it’s such a shame as we definitely would have stayed had it not smelt like someone was smoking in there!

Emanuela Veninata: This old fashioned family restaurant tries hard to project Italian food values, but misses the mark by offering below standard quality and cooking. We had a fritto misto, which was ok, followed by home made cannelloni and lasagna (home made perhaps, but not well executed...) and some overcooked sword fish with a nice salad. It was a Sunday lunch devoid of any pleasure. Call in Gordon Ramsay!

Edwin Mercado: Disgusting attitude from the lady at the front door taking names of people writing them on the list. We came around 5:45pm today 12-2-2023 she ask my wife’s name and told us about 30 minutes waiting and we said that’s fine with us and sat in the waiting area.After a while there are more people arriving and the lady who is obviously assigned to sort out and writing the names of arriving customers waiting to be seated asked and wrote down their names on the lists,which of course will be behind my wife’s name because we came in first ahead of those people!! But when this lady was calling out people’s name to be seated we noticed that she called out first a couple of people that obviously came behind us to be seated on the tableFurious we just decided to go out and we will never come to that place or any Nando’s restaurant again.
Michelle L: Awful experience here. RUDE MANAGER. We was served everyone’s food apart from 1 of us. We finished our food and the other persons had came out. We waited half an hour before questioning it, the manager said it’s not her problem and the food will come when it’s ready, they then told us they will have to put it in a takeaway bag as our time at the table was up, we had no apology from the manager or other staff. Manager was so rude we was all shocked (tall woman with pink shirt and blonde hair with highlights at the front)
Kare Maina: Went in to get a table and was waiting in the queue. Two other people came and passed me as if I was not there whilst the employee saw all these but didn’t say anything instead he went on to serve them. I was actually disappointed but didn’t complain about it as I wanted to confirm if there is a different or new procedure that I wasn’t aware of. When I asked the employee about it he went on (with an attitude may I add) to ask if I wanted to book a table or not?! I was shocked since he just needed to answer my query then I answer. When I repeated the question he again with an attitude asked if I want to wait in or out. There is a reason people queue and to override this is out order and to add insults by having an attitude also doesn’t help if you want to exercise a power that’s not the place. Disappointed and will not be recommending it.

Adrian Warnock: Very very disappointed to arrive and see this huge empty space where their outdoor tables used to be. Covid hasn’t ended for people like me and outdoor seating is like step free access to me. I’m so fed up of society ignoring the needs of the severely immune compromised. Why on earth get rid of one of the few places where it’s safe for people like me to venture out of our sheilding. Yes for us it’s still as dangerous as it was in March 2020. Why can’t organisations like nandos be considerate and allow us to be part of society instead of isolated in our own homes.
Sarah Alexander: Took my partner here at the weekend and I was a little worried about the restaurant being wheelchair friendly. I explained this on the phone and the lady who answered said not to worry and come down. We was greeted at the door with a big smile and the lady gave us a choice on where we would be most happy which just got everything started on great foot. Food was lovely! 10/10
Shirley Willsher: Friendly staff, food as expected, no hot drinks but a choice of cold drinks as refills. Found some of the tables a bit too close together. Only one toilet, which also accommodates disabled, it was clean and stocked no problems. All in all ok experience.

Food took over an hour to come out and everything except the chips was cold and dry. 2 tables came in after us sat down ordered their food ate their food and left before we even got the halloumi starters.There was no coldslaw and all the cold drinks were out of order except for the coke.Staff were stood around talking and not clearing tables even when bringing food to us they didn't consider taking the dirty used stuff off the table next to us back to the kitchen where they were heading. I'm honestly not sure whether this has anything to do with the massive amount of takeaway orders they have going on as there was clearly a lot or if its just incompetence.Either way service and food was shocking.
Andrew Donnelly: Popped in earlier to have a cheeky Nando’s with the famalam.As always the service was efficient and speedy and friendly even though it was extremely busy.The food was superb and the chicken was to die for, I like mine xtra spicy 🌶 where as the rest had herb 🌿 and garlic .You cannot go wrong visiting this restaurant at Tolgate.Parking: Car park is extensive but can get busy in peak times which can make it difficult to exit Tolgate.

DJ Samuel Hann: Great restaurant as there is parking outside (limited to 3 hours) situated just off the a12 in a retail park. The staff were very polite and helpful plus who can go wrong with a “cheeky nandos” . Restaurant and toilet always clean and tidy.
