Wivenhoe House Hotel: what do users think?

Bridget Matthews: We had a lovely stay at Wivenhoe House Hotel. My husband is in a wheelchair and we were delighted that the accessible room not only had a balcony with a view of the garden but also a great wet room with plenty of grab rails and lowered sink. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and kind both in the hotel and in the restaurant where we enjoyed a very nice evening meal and breakfast.Food & drinks: Good choice on dinner menu including vegetarian options.Excellent breakfast with choice of hot and cold buffet. Staff were all so helpful and nothing too much trouble.

Margaret Moore: Had a great high tea theregood at atmosphere

Bob Ryall: We went there with our father in law for afternoon tea pleasant experience nice surroundings good service

Andrew Larkin: Good hotel with spacious rooms and a really nice restaurant. Located within the grounds of the University of Essex. It is a teaching hotel to teach the hospitality trade to potential hotel workers, though as a customer you would never know.Rooms: Several rooms in the manor house, all decorated in the signature style of various other hotel chains. Another wing has modern rooms.Food & drinks: Chefs are also being trained, but you would never know as the food is fantastic.Noteworthy details: The house and grounds were painted by Constable in 1816. You can still enjoy walking round the grounds. There are two protected cork oaks, which are a rare find in the UK.

Rob O'Hare: It's a hospitality training hotel and it does feel like it, you do need to treat the staff like they have training wheels, a little rigid in the service, perfectly fine just don't expect the finesse and you won't be disappointed.
