Andras Zoltan: We've had a garage conversion done, the guys started just before Christmas and, just 4 weeks' work later, all the planned work is done - despite the first 2 weeks being done in sub-zero temperatures (James really suffered!)The final result is better than we could have imagined, and we'll be using the guys to fit the utility once we've figured out what we want!Steve is very easy to deal with, and everybody that came to work on the job was considerate, professional and efficient.Our job was complicated by needing to keep an electric feed to a garden office going; and the electrician was able to plan around that so I could keep working.We'll definitely consider using the guys again for anything that we do in the future, and we'd definitely recommend them.

They always turn up when they say they will, they are polite, clean and tidy and do a great job.Over the years they have built a laundry room, completely refurbished the dining room, replaced the roof of the house and in the latest work, they have seamlessly added insulation to the walls of my sitting room, including replacing and repairing original coving from 1906, plus they’ve entirely refurbished my very tiny downstairs toilet and shower room. Which has gone from being a drab, slightly embarrassing room, to looking like a rather luxurious hotel look shower room, thanks to James’ great attention to detail. Couldn’t be happier.Always service with a smile, always a pleasure to have in the house. No hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending.

We had a new bathroom suite, knocked through and raised floor from mid landing w.c and the size this has given now us along with the extremely high quality of the finish is second to none. From plastering, tiling, electrical, carpentry and plumbing work, all were delivered to the highest standards. So when I needed my elderly relative’s house restored, as it was rather run down, I had no hesitation in asking Lexden Builders Ltd to do the work. They exceeded all expectation as the house was transformed after four weeks to an amazingly beautiful home. The kitchen was replaced, electrics updated, cracks in the walls and ceilings repaired and the entire house was redecorated to perfection. All the workers turned up exactly on time and worked solidly throughout the day. Liz MacLean: We have been saving to get our beautiful Victorian but very run-down terraced home refurbished and were inexperienced clients having always just 'made-do'. Never again! Steve and his brilliant team of professional, hardworking, imaginative, creative, reliable and friendly workers made the whole process a breeze. Steve is patient and flexible (we can be indecisive) and finds a solution to any problem quickly. His building team found an ingenious solution for turning the kids bedrooms into two gorgeous, evenly sized rooms from a huge double and tiny box-room; the kitchen is transformed into a modern, very cool space and the hallway, staircase and landing are just stunning. Gone is the horrible woodchip wallpaper and airtex ceilings, replaced with smooth, beautifully plastered and painted walls and ceilings. At every stage of the process to refurbish the heart of our home, Steve offered sound advice and was always available, transparent and responsive to our needs and affordability. We are more than delighted with our experience with Lexden Builders Ltd and look forward to future projects working with Steve and his fabulous team. We could not recommend this company more highly.
Nicki Woolf: Simply stunning work carried out in our house. Steve & all of his team have been amazing, efficient, polite & friendly during 4 weeks of work & we are truly overwhelmed with the results. We felt at ease with everyone that came in. We put our house in their hands distributing keys to all & what we now have is simply the most amazing living space. Lexden builders project managed the entire work. We didn’t need to do anything & disruption was minimal. Doors were secured to reduce brick dust travelling through the house. We had support to keeping as many appliances for as long as possible as the kitchen was ripped out & with everyone being so friendly, even our young teenagers felt at ease & would chat to the team during the work. We actually miss having the team around now that they have gone! The guidance we had throughout led to this beautiful space. We had advice on layout, design, internal doors, lighting, wall paint though to what we would not have considered such as boxing in wiring so that aesthetically we had the best look of our house. Other timber merchants in colchester don't seem as keen to help do a deal. Lee Johnston: If you want to upset your neighbours then go for it. I don’t mind a bit of kisstory, but having that blaring out at 8am was a bit much, smooth or magic would have been a bit easier on the ears. Getting a knock on the door at 7am to move our car off our driveway to allow a huge grab lorry to encroach on our drive. Had cement splashed on our cars and then they jet washed the driveway, again splashing all the debris all up the side of my car, our driveway was needlessly blocked on many occasions or it was difficult to get on or off it. You can expect disruption and that’s fine but at times it did wear a bit thin. The issue was with the ground workers all other trades seemed fine and polite

Although promised by the latter that bathroom work would be completed by Christmas, this is now very doubtful. We are 5 months without our bathroom, with precisely no work having been carried out, and little or no customer consideration from either Cadman or I&O. If I had known how poor this whole process has been handled, I would have chosen another builder myself!!

christopher hogben: The branch is fine. Staff helpfull and parking is fine. Its just the company that's the issue. I don't want to use them, but have to as my employer does. Every single door we order has manufacturing issues. Most windows and doors come in damaged and we refuse them and send them back. For plastics like trims and boards, the branch is perfectly fine and the delivery driver local is good as well. Sort out your window and doors please.

Simon Gronland: Bought a handless kitchen from Wickes Colchester, the design is nice to look at but the units are of poor quality.The amount of on site alterations to the standard carcus that's supplied by Wickes to make the 'handless range' is laughable.They have used standard wall and base units that have to be cut back, routered out, framing altered and panels replaced before you even start assembling the kitchen units.The original delivery was short on items which took several further deliveries to remidy. All this took weeks to get sorted.I would compare the quality of the units to a flat pack B&Q basic unit at best. There's no back rail on the base or tall units making them highly unstable until fully fitted, this causes stress on the joints and weakening the overall unit.These kitchens are the same price as competitors, Wickes are simply taking advantage of its customers.None of the issues encountered including the ridiculous amount of necessary alterations are explained prior to order payment or delivery and are only discovered when you eventually find the QR code link in one of the many manuals your given, it has push release drawers which are not great when items add weight. An incredibly overly fussy design and installation, to be avoided.I would NOT recommend a Wickes kitchen, and neither do either of the very experienced kitchen installation experts I used to install my kitchen.Do yourselves a favour and go to Wren or Homebase, both have the same range and better quality.I wish I had done so...!
Chris Laing: Have spent thousands with Wickes over the last few weeks renovating a house. Bought a new, sealed, power tool at the Colchester branch today which when opened, was clearly second hand, covered in dust and damaged. When I went to return the manager was rude, and stroppy, throwing the previous item on the floor in front of me, and slamming the new one down on the desk. Disgraceful and embarrassing behaviour and not how you should treat your customers will never be using Wickes again.

Gary Hazelton: If you spend more than 45 minutes browsing and purchasing items at Wickes you will receive a parking ticket from some unheard company for violating its parking conditions. I was there 59 mins and I can assure Wickes that it will be the last time they have my custom !
Melissa Byleveld: Avoid if you want to take your time buying hardware! These scammers are in cahoots with the parking agency. You wil get fined after parking for more than 45 minutes by a parking agency that doesn't actually send out the fines but instead escalates it straight to debt collection.
M B: My father is an elderly man and has never incurred as much as a parking fine in the whole of his adult life. This week he received an alarming letter in the post from Trace debt collectors demanding him to pay a £165 fine as he had ignored two previous letters from G24. He was very shocked, nervous and scared so mum called Trace to find out where the illegal parking had taken place. Apparently it was in Wickes car park Colchester back in October. Apparently dad stayed 20 mins too long. Dad paid the £165 to Trace over the phone as soon as he received the letter as he didn't want the debt to escalate. He never received any previous letters from G24 demanding payment of fines. I telephoned G24 today and they claimed letters had been sent out in November and December. All other mail had been received by my parents for this period. I put it to G24 that letters were not sent out and by not doing so they've been able to treble their fine as the original fine was £57. I further telephoned Wickes in Colchester today to relay this all to them and they confirmed that they had received multiple complaints in recent weeks claiming the same problem... Wickes customers calling to say thay they had debt collectors writing to them but with no previous letters having been received from G24. Wickes were very apologetic but this does not compensate my elderly honest father. He'd spent a lot of money in Wickes that day only to be slapped with this insult and now it transpires that other customers have been too. How much longer are G24 going to be able to get away with this abhorrent behaviour. Dad will not step foot in a Wickes store again and will in future take his custom to a competitor.

pete ferdy: All good . After 45 mins in car park you will be charged unless you have a appointment . So if your looking at kitching / bathroom units tell staff who will book you a appointment straight away .
