Colchester Leisure World.: what do users think?
Mr Wildebeast: Great fun. Clean too
gemma dymock: Kids love it here excellent place x
patricia crane: Excellent place took my granddaughter for the first time she is 5 and loved it. The only negative was parking i tried to pay through an app but struggled, so when I went to say we were here the guy said it's free parking you just put your car reg number in a pad as you go through the turn style.
C “Tornadoman” Kelly: Not ware you have to book this online, the reception guy wasn't very helpfull just said you have to do it online you can't book through the reception desk,We booked it one in the end and found out they have got rid of the pound lockers, so you have to buy a padlock which you can either pay the £5 for a padlock from them or while you wait for your session nip to pound land and costs a £1 for a padlock never know this think absolutely stupid policy this place has implemented. In certain areas the maintance needs to be address, especially on the slides as the green ide you have bits that have dipped down and the silicon sealant is coming out.The corners and steps were grimey and dirty going up to the slide area and there was dirt on the floors in the changing rooms so the place needs a deep clean,The actual pool could of been bigger but for the amount of people in the pool just not big enough, the temperature of the water was not the best but understanble with the cost of gas these days. The hot tub spar were slightly warmer but still not a hot tub, they were been used by other families to warm there little ones up after they had Been in the colder pools,Lifeguards not very talkative just sit there but fair enough.
Mikko Jay: What a disappointment the fitness pool has become. Having left Colchester many years ago and visiting the other week, I was shocked by the standard of the fitness pool (the blue stuff is messy) especially for the price. Lane management is poor, supposed to be 6 lanes, was 3 large ones. I expect better for a city compared to what I'm used to. Clearly stripping costs and maximising profit rather than wellbeing of users. Wouldn't come back.
Dan Jeffs: Went to the swimming part of the leisure centre and had a blast, it’s mostly online bookings with time slots most likely due to its busyness. Polite and friendly staff, clean and tidy centre and good value for money. Car park will be busy, so be prepared to hunt for a spot midday! Parking is set to 4 hours stay if you use the iPads and put in your number plate in.Overall a superb day out and will defiantly be visiting again
Frankie van Loo: Have been a few times recently and is now my weekly go to place. Having tried other pools in the Chelmsford/Braintree/Witham area this is by far the best for my 3yr old and myself. Good mix and size of swimming pools, shallow & deep. Plenty of interaction that gets my daughter interested in swimming. Good to have a large slide that young children are allowed on whilst wearing inflatables. Crazy river is good fun and great for teaching about water currents. Unlike previous comments I think underwater cameras are great idea for safety in the water.
Alex Wightman: Great pool well run . Not everything was working particularly in the toddler area but love this pool and the facilities
Robert Postek: Good place for the family relax
Ben Anderson: A mixed bag. Been for a member for a few months. Reception staff are lovely, management seem utterly incompetent. Overall Aqua Springs is managed well, the spa pools could do with being a bit warmer and the changing rooms floors are a disaster. The fitness pool (what I mainly joined for). Needs a massive clean, the skirting of the pool is disgusting. No one wears over-shoes (even I have given up, most regulars have resorted to buying sliders). Parents from swimming lessons, walk through the showers with their boots on and no-one cares. Sometimes there's about 3 tight lanes on in some sessions and its chaos. As a previous member of Tendring leisure centres, these are much better run (and the centres were actually built before Colchester Leisure World). The worst of all, the changing rooms in the fitness pool can often smell of urine, which is concerning considering your about to get in a swimming pool.I can't believe as Colchester's only 25 metre swimming pool is in such a state like this. Aren't we suppose to be a city? The gym 10/10 managed well, induction was well thought-out and always clean.
Rodney Button: Attended a trampoline competition that my granddaughter was competing in. Facilities are good, and a coffee shop on site.
Emily Faith: By far the best swimming pool in Essex. I travel to Colchester from southend, so I’d say it was worth it.
Lynn Weatherby: Wish u could swim for longer than 55 minutes in the afternoon
Paul Shaw: Loads of things to do
Sonny: Had a great family swimming session very clean friendly and helpful workers the kids can't wait tongo back again
Anne Curtis: Water temperature not what expected in the jacuzzi and Spa. The price for a family ticket I would expect alot longer time slot 90 mins!! especially that you have to queue for the slide at least 15 mins a time. Our time slot we managed 4 slides and once around the wave machine part. Cleft feeling ripped off and very disappointed children will not be returning for this fact. Time length really need to be addressed if we were to return.
Marie Millar: First visit, reception staff not ve4y friendly but the pool is very good lots to do the hour and a half we had went so quick. There is something for all ages and abilities. Just remember to hook a locker key when making a reservation
Sean Melville: Great show tonight, Jason Fox tour absolutely awesome
Kelly Roberts: I've brought my 2yo here twice now to use the pool and after 15 minutes he is shivering and wanting to get out. Its a shame as its a lovely pool, but I doubt I will be going back becuase the water is just not warm enough for young children(or even me!)
Garry P: Rapids not working for a long time now, cameras now under the water?! what is that about!?!?!?!?!?!? disgusting not going back for that reason why are they filming in the water disgusting privacy violation 🤮 also padlock lockers?! what a con happy to sell you one for £5 tho don't worry.Slides are good but need a good sand down or some kind of smoothing/wax because it's like sliding down on sand paper all the way
Marija Andrasiuniene: Never answer the phone or reply to emails/messages 3 days later or doesn't at all. Swimming pools are sooo cold! The water is freezing not talking about getting out of them. It's just a big NO for the money they charge. Go in your garden and dip into paddling pool you'll get more out if it seriously.

First Strokes Swim School Ltd: what do users think?
Jon Thompson: Wife goes swimming here, I stopped and waited and had a coffee and cake, felt a lot fitter afterwards.Shame they don't have separate sessions for children, adults and disabled, I think it would work better for all.
sharon lynch: Brilliant swimming school. Always clean. Exceptional teaching, fun but disciplinedAnd friendly happy staff.
Jamie Owens: Over one term my 3 year old has lost all their swimming confidence at first strokes. When the class is busy the children seem to spend a majority of the 30 minutes holding on to or sitting on the side. When they are swimming they are passed quickly from instructor to instructor with little to no time independent swimming.
Thomas Young: Great swimming pool and lessons for kids.
Rachel Ambrose: Great school, great teachers and always somewhere to park. Both kids learnt to swim here, wouldn't go anywhere else.
Yvonne Simpson: Excellent, my grandchildren are having lessons and making very good progress. I am a swimming teacher myself, so I can confidently say that it is a very well run establishment.
Chris Manning: I have had major surgery I’ve just joined First Strokes for a recovery program to help me walk again, the staff have been so helpful and kind they have gone out of their way to ensure that I do not come into harms way, the staff suggested a lane rope to partition me from a potential hazardI am delighted to say I would highly recommend First Strokes for a public swimThank you to all who have gone that extra mile to keep me safe, the staff are so friendly and I felt so happy swimming again since 2019 after going through so many major surgeriesKindest regardsChris 🏊🏽‍♀️🏊🏽‍♀️🏊🏽‍♀️🏊🏽‍♀️🏊🏽‍♀️🏊🏽‍♀️🏊🏽‍♀️🏊🏽‍♀️
carol mcpherson: Was telephoned two weeks on the trot saying the life quard has covid then third week waited to 1hour before time rang again blaming on covid again this life quard has been ill for three weeks when I daid surely he shouldn't be there if covid she said not having this conversation will be going further we travel down because our grandson likes pool his nervous swimmer.
ellie Adams: Positive:Quality,ValueI took my son today as he doesn't really like leisure world. The pool is lovely and warm and you get a hour slot which is plenty with a 1 year old and 13 Yr old. I can't believe I've never thought to come before. Thanks.
Robert Applin: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueBlown away with how amazing this place is. All the staff from the moment you walk in our extremely helpful and friendly. The instructors are 5*. Highly recommend for any parent.
Debbie Wood: My daughter loved her first lesson and really looking forward to her next.
Eddie Greenwood: Lovely place amazing staff highly recommended
Dan Skinner: Always enjoy taking my son here for his lessons, facilities have recently improved.
Peter Jury: Great improvements made. About time a coffee shop
Shaymaa Alzubaidi: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value
Brian Stevens: Took our daughter to get her used to water and start her off swimming. Good pool for taking little ones, clean and tidy with friendly staff
J. J: Only went for the public swim session with my son. Reasonable price and what we needed but place is looking shabby, the floors were not very clean, paint pealing off walls. In the men's changing room the clothes drier has come off the wall but never been replaced. Worst of all was having to flick away a big bit of dead yellow skin which had come off someone else and attached itself to my son's foot.
Leon S (Toxo): Great swimming lessons for our daughter. She loves it and we are very happy with the service. Well run and great teachers.

Mini Swimming: what do users think?
Becky O: My son is autistic has learning disabilities and is deaf Lexden pool are fab with him they reassure him and make sure he understands instructions he’s always reassured by the teachers when he’s feeling anxious groups are small which is really good.
Steve McMellor: My son loves his weekly Sea Turtle lessons. (Edit: initial review written for free session reward) He is making slow, steady progress as the sessions seem very random and rarely follow on to build on the previous week. The teachers are always encouraging and patient but don’t always explain things clearly. My son tells me he finds it frustrating that just as he gets something, rather than practice and improve, the following lesson jumps to something completely different then by the time they come back to it often weeks later he has forgotten. Not bad as he is slowly learning to swim but could be so much better if there were clear targets and joined up progression.
Setric: Very very traumatic experience🤪🤪 My youngest son william jr recently attended this fine institute and he drowned💀💀An instructor namedy Sally sat on him😮. i would add a photo but after traumatic resuscitation he moved to Australia with his aunt. However 10/10 experience i highly recommend to all.
Betty: We’ve completed three terms, but the last term we’ve been really disappointed. Felt like our daughter was doing the same thing every lesson and really only get around 20 minutes of swimming.Feel they are not very organised or clear in their communication.Disappointing end to our last term really, so we’ve decided to pay for a private gym membership where we can use their pool and teach our daughter to swim ourselves. This ha still worked out cheaper than mini swimming.Since we’ve done that she’s been more engaged and enjoyed swimming more.
Yugesh Rai: My son has joined mini swimming since aged 1 years. He enjoys the lesson and is now confident in waters. The teachers are very friendly and lessons are structured. Its a great learning environment
J Radford: My grandson loved the swimming lessons here and I was impressed with the well run lessons
Matthew Reynolds: Our children currently swim at the Lexden pool on a Sunday. They look forward to it every time and are progressing incredibly fast.
Agnieszka Guz: My son joined mini swimming 4 months ago and was the best decision we made. He just simply love it, we can see massive progress. Teachers are very friendly, and they work different with individuals.
Frankie Heath: Sam is a brilliant teacher and is always making the lessons fun, including having themed weeks. The pool is warm and the changing area is always clean. There is also seating available to watch if you are not swimming with your children
Gawin Tsang: Nice instructors with great warm pool for my daughters, recommended.
Stephanie Scattergood: Great swimming class for little ones. Friendly staff, and great place to meet other parents!
KingsleyKaren Sparrow: I would recommend mini swimming both children have come on tremendously and the instructors are absolutely brilliant!!
David Wiley: I would thoroughly recommend Mini Swimming. The teachers are exceptional, the pool is always warm and the changing rooms are always clean.
Rachel Harden: Mini swimming are amazing! Both of my boys have had lessons at Mini Swimming in their Lexden pool. My first son started almost 10 years ago and we returned with my youngest about 6 weeks ago having our grown the Stanway pool. I was amazed at how “new” the pool still felt and it was amazing to see how well maintained it had been. A credit to the staff and it is amazing that Mini Swimming now have different pools to support the children’s progression. Sam is an incredible teacher. He forms a bond with your child and gains their trust instantly, allowing you to sit back and enjoy watching the progress your child makes. Sam has a unique way of keeping you involved and ensuring you understand the element your child is finding tricky and how you can support them at home. The small groups mean your child is known as an individual and not just a member of the class. I truly can not fault Mini Swimming and would recommend them to everyone.
Stacey Newcombe: We have been swimming at the Lexden pool for over a year now starting in the Starfish class, and now in Clownfish.Sam is a fantastic teacher who my son loves! The changing rooms are always clean, and friendly staff. My little boys confidence in the water is amazing to see thanks to his lessons!
Anthony gray: Our little girl started going to the Lexden pool a few months ago and absolutely loves it. The facilities are brilliant and Tiffany is a superb teacher who really connects with the children with fun filled, quality lessons - we have seen our little girls confidence grow each week which is wonderful. We are very lucky to have such a great swimming club on our doorstep and will definitely be enrolling the rest of our children for lessons once they are a little older.
Holly Knowles: My little girl has been attending mini swimming sessions at the Lexden pool with Sam for over a year now. I am very impressed by the variety of the sessions, especially the themed weeks which we both love. Sam is an attentive teacher who makes a real effort for each child to be involved, learn and have fun! The pool and changing areas are always spotless and the cleaning staff very friendly too.
Ben Keeble: Great pool with excellent changing facilities. The teachers are great, really engaging and make the lessons fun and challenging with lots of variety.
ChlosConcepts: My daughter and I are currently doing the first baby swim with the bonding sessions package and we absolutely love it. Sam, our instructor, really makes me feel at ease, and explains everything so well with demonstrations. Nothing is forced, you can try everything in your own time which makes it much more enjoyable. We look forward to continuing are swimming journey with mini swimming!Couldn’t recommend more :)
Laura Woolley: My daughter thoroughly enjoys the class each week, lots of fun and laughter throughout. A lovely warm pool with nice changing area.
Lucy Everett: My son has been having lessons at Mini Swimming since he was a baby. He now swims with Sam and his progress over the last 6 months has been incredible. This is the best swimming school and I recommend it to all my friends who have children. The BEST teachers!

YMCA: what do users think?
Aaron G: I stayed here many years ago. They charge way to much and blame it on "support" I had two support meeting in two years! I was young didn't know about benefits so instead of supporting me they let me rake up a 4500 pound debt! Shame some of the staff at the time were amazing I remember Nicki and Jess on a Sunday! Only reason two * because they where two stars during my stay!
Freddy Clarke: Very nice facilities placed across and Aldi I liked the garden too and very friendly residents
Christopher Blomeley: Young people are encouraged to be independent...
Georgia Baker: I live here
Steve Morgan: Working in there, has friendly staff and place is nice and clean
