Business type: Optician
Andrew Faithfull: I have used this branch of Specsavers for over ten years and I have always received a good standard of service. The staff are friendly, professional and knowledgable.Since the store was redeveloped a few years ago, everything is organised in a sensible manner with plenty of space and seating areas if you are waiting for an appointment.During a recent appointment, I was impressed with some of the new technology they use such as the camera that takes a picture of your eye to check its health. The optician was also kind enough to explain what the picture showed. The contact lens department have always been helpful and solved any issues that may have arisen from using the separate 'Lensmail' service.Being on a contact lens direct debit scheme means eye-care appointments are not charged and I have always been pleasantly surprised that the staff do not push too hard to encourage me to spend money on separate glasses.
Teddy Mak: Have been in-and-out 3times in the last month.Staff have been friendly, professional and absolutely lovely to deal with, even on busy days.
Diana Childs: The prescription night driving glasses make driving in the dark so much easier as they cut out the very unpleasant dazzle from oncoming headlights without cutting down the vision from the rest of the road. I wish I had had them years ago
Brian Bowling: Excellent service and attention from start to finish really pleased.
Yvonne Wilson: I have always received first class service here. Really lovely kind staff. My new sunglasses are perfect. Thank you very much for your amazing service 😀
Oliver Dhakal: I was seen by a really knowledgeable and friendly optometrist named Sophia, and the staff who helped me pick out my glasses were also very helpful. A nice friendly atmosphere; I feel like my eyes are well looked after!
Diana Dickinson: FANTASTIC, thanks for the great service staff friendly, and I am very happy with my new prescription
Ronda Winter: Love both pairs of glasses and got on with them straight away. Fit perfectly
Oliver Jones: Disappointing service. Overcrowding and long wait times of more than an hour just to collect glasses.
bruce seaton: Astounded when a sleeve came off my glasses I'd only had 6 months, went in to replace sleeve, to be told only replace with plain cheap looking sleeves, not the designer ones the frames came with!! But were happy to sell me the designer one in the girst place.
Babs Fulcher: Good customer service and the staff were friendly and polite. I had a nice lady help me choose my frames, which I found invaluable as I always struggle to find the right frames for myself. I have varifocals now and the assistant did explain the ups and downs of varifocals. They are the best glasses I ever had. Getting along with them fine. Don't have to keep changing glasses now.
Nina King: Very busy
Jackie James: I visited on Tuesday morning an urgent appt as I had a problem with my eye that had previously been dismissed at a local eye clinic as dry eyes. The young lady at specsavers quickly picked up that I had a slight detached retina I was operated on Thursday in the eye hospital. Many thanks to her for checking the slight difference on the scan.
Cynthia Green: The Audiologist who tested my hearing was very efficient and explained the process, and the reason for referring me back to the hospital.
Tom Barrett: Very friendly and very knowledgeable staff.
Robert Nunn: Excellent Opticians, very customer & issue resolution focused. Both Nick (Optometrist) & Kelly (Branch Manager) are truly brilliant.
Chris Lovell: I'm new to the area, so was surprised at how big the store was, how many staff and how professional yet personable most were.
Terry D: Great customer service and very professional.
Lisa Morgan: Lovely staff, not to pushy and very helpful.
Dave Kendall: Alot of staff & alot going on. But the collection point seems rushed & fitting suffered. Clearly starting down that 5 mins per customer route. Added- four visits me & wife the 5 sets of frames, picking help was very good on both occasions. ,,,collection for me was a long wait as I had been cross off the list? no adjustments needed. "Wifes visit"-poor adjusting as bending arms the wrong way , both of us had lenses misted up as frames where cold and immediately asked can we see clearly wanting to pop them back in the box. We felt rushed. But got there in the end.
batman. robin: Seen too at appointment time to pick up new glasses which had to be renewed due to arm falling off of one pair and the lense falling off the other pair.Specsavers only ordered one pair so had to wait for the other pair a week laterAsked if I can have them delivered and was charged £3 - 50p for delivery, which did arrive on time.At least I got my new glasses only cost me £102 - 50p .

Matthew Thomas: Absolutely brilliant agency, just been working for them the past few months and I had an excellent experience. I always got paid on time every week with minimum fuss and Sophie was great to deal with. Brilliant communication, couldn't be any better.
Oliver Bruton: Rishi has been really helpful with continuously keeping me updated and being very efficient, he’s a clear communicator as well with good skills to enable him to keep me as a candidate feeling as well looked after as possible, would also recommend Bromak as a company in which Rishi has represented fantastically.

Elizabeth Norfolk: On entering reception asked what my name was twice, sat there for45 minutes then asked how long it was going to be there was only 2 people in there she looked at computer again and immediately came to attend to me after asking my name again attitude was awful never going there again
Philippa Bell: Waited months for an appointment. Went in a week after eye test to collect glasses and nobody at the opticians reception for several.minutes. Staff members were going to the room behind the reception desk but they ignore anyone waiting. Not even the courtesy of an acknowledgement. Eventually someone came from the back office and went off to find my glasses. He found them but the prescription was missing. I asked if he could print a copy from their computer system but was told that 'legally he was not allowed to' Ridiculous!! Also wanted to buy some filters for my husband's hearing aids (bought from Boots) but no one can sell anything to do with audiology unless they are an audiologist...again ridiculous. One audiologist was 'not there' another had an customer on an appointment that meant he would not be available for over an hour. Does Boots take any notice of reviews? The customer service is dreadful.
christine guirguis: I went for an eye test and I was prescribed a reading and a distance glasses. A photo was taken for my right eye and a couple of blood clots were found on my right eye. I was advised to go for eye screening test again. The distance glasses made me dizzy so I thought since my glasses were not properly made, I wanted to have another eye health check. I was diagnosed with right eye optic nerve swelling and I was referred to the eye clinic. How did boots failed to diagnose such a seriuos eye problem? Shame on you boots, you are overrated. You should close the opticians' section
Gabriela Chirila: If I could I would have given them minus stars. No one ever answers the phone. I have been working on a pair of glasses for 2 months with the payment made and 3 times I went personally to pick them up and they are not ready. I am very disappointed with their services.
BOOGLE DOOGLE: Nobody home nobody answering yet again classic example of failing customer services from so called established uk businesses.
Robert: Absolutely appalling service.I took my disabled partner for a 2.20 appointment. When we arrived we were asked to take a seat and wait to be called. After waiting over 45 minutes I enquired how much longer we had to wait but couldn’t get an answer. They must have known there would be a delay when we arrived and could have informed us there would be a wait but nothing was said.We decided not to wait any longer and walked out.MY ADVICE IS NEVER BOOK AN EYE TEST AT BOOTS Their customer service is non exsistant
Chloe D'Silva: Optician was lovely and thorough.Other staff were gossiping about a poorly staff member rather than seeing to customers, slapping chewing gum around mouth when finally completing tests ect. After years of going to them, its time to find a new Opticians.
Ricky Steele: Appalling customer service. Over the last 4 years, their phone has never worked. When you try to book via their call centre, they are always unable to access the store's calendar, and on the rare occasion that they are able to, there are no appointments for 3+ Months. The contact lenses that I should receive through the post are forever being sent to the Chelmsford Store (apparently because I set up my account there over 10 years ago when it used to be Dolland & Aitchinson), and I constantly have to go in-store to collect them. The line in-store is always massive, and there has rarely been anyone manning the desk over the last few years - last time I had to knock on the staff room door after waiting for 30 minutes in line, only to be ignored by several staff members from other departments.I understand that Covid has made things difficult, but it was like this even before the pandemic, so you have no excuse.Following on from this; I called Specsavers this morning, and they happily fit me in next week. This took me less than 4 minutes total to organise.Your service is atrocious.
Cassie Raymer: Took my autistic son for his first ever eye test mainly due to being able to get an appointment fast. Aside from him hating the eye test, which was pretty unavoidable due to lights being in his eyes - the woman says "if you could pick your glasses within 5 minutes, I want to go home". Fine, my son loved a pair of glasses instantly. I suggested a few others, but we were done within a minute. Then they made us wait around a bit before saying they'd have to book an appointment for the next day as the lady was going home. Next day, they had lost his prescription and made him go back through the test - she promised there would be no lights, and then shined lights in his eyes again. They had said the first day they were fine to do lenses without coatings for Irlen colours afterwards, then said right at the end while putting in the order that actually the NHS wont cover it and it would cost "a fortune". Then I asked for the prescription to go elsewhere, and they somehow put the wrong address on it, an address that I hadn't lived at for over 5 years. They didn't give us the NHS voucher numbers either so we could use the prescription elsewhere, and after 2 days of them not answering the phone we had to go back in to get them! This has all really upset my son who has really struggled with the whole process. It's turned something that should have been simple into a scary, traumatic experience for him! He is dreading his next eye test in 6 months. Great first experience for the boy! Thanks so much boots! Never again! Have cancelled the rest of our appointments with them, are going to wait longer for Specsavers appointments, as they have taken over, sorted my son out with glasses and made him feel loads happier about having to wear them!
Sylwester Suchecki: I was there over the weekend and asked for an urgent eye test for my 7 years old who has been having headaches. If I remember correctly I've spoken to Gemma and she has been extremely helpful. She has reserved an appointment in few days but told us soon as anyone cancels she will call us back. My boy has his eyes checked next day! What a wonderful person. She was very kind and thoughtful.Thank you.
Deri Purll: Staff are friendly and helpful. I had an issue with one of my orders, it took a very long time to be delivered to the store but they have sorted it now so I'm fairly happy with the service.
David Cockersell: I've been a customer 32 years and never had a serious issue with the service. They are always very professional and helpful, pleasant people, nice to deal with. Their prices are not cheap and a visit there can take quite a slice out of your day. Reckon on two hours if you need to get new glasses, even longer if it's busy. But ultimately I know I can trust them, and they will put any problems right.
John Morris: Very rude staff. Was 5 minutes late for an eye test, 10 minutes if you include the time I waited for the person on reception to get off the phone. Was basically repremanded and told I would have to wait until the optician was free to agree to see me. When I asked how long that would be was told could be a few minutes or could take longer depending on the needs of a customer now with the optician. 5 minutes later was informed the optician was not prepared to see me. Would not use this branch again, have now booked an appointment with a different company.
Svetlana Worth: not helpful
Jane Callaghan: Fantastic service .Very polite friendly staff .would recommend Boots Opticians to anyone wanting a eye test or new glasses
Roy Butterfield: Asked for transition lenses the same as I have already, grey, they did them in brown so I rejected them and now have to go through the bother of waiting a week to 10 days for replacement, so have to go on holiday with glasses out of focus, no offer of compensation, just "sorry" not good enough, the person that did the order didnt check my old glasses for colour of the lens.Dont think I will be going back there again, incidently, Boots know how to price high.
Ben Wallace: Took hours to get sorted

Steph Oliver: Terrible service from the reception, secretary and doctor. And I have to pay for it. Never again.
Phil: Extremely unhappy. Total Care promise does not cover diagnostics tests they are forcing me to get part way through my treatment. The second half of my surgery was due to go ahead over 2 months ago but they have effectively held the rest of my treatment ransom until I pay for more scans out of my own pocket. The hospital promised me the £4,000 i spent would be a total care plan however this is certainly not the case. Please avoid this hospital at all costs. p.s this wasn’t the only issue, my emails have been ignored for weeks on end and only replied to when emailing the head office!! Adam Howard is the surgeon and Megan Wood is his secretary. Terrible service and I am currently looking elsewhere for another surgeon to finish my treatment. Nightmare experience!!
Ryan O'Sullivan: Had my MRI scan here went OK, was seen very quickly without any problems.
Colin Rose: I was meant to have a hernia operation under a consultant based at Oaks Hospital three months ago. The operation was cancelled due to a discrepancy on my ecg. I have had several tests since and they have all come back as satisfactory. I am still waiting for a date for my op and there seems to be no urgency from the consultant. I am very unhappy with this situation and can't believe that this is the standard of private healthcare.
Samanta Karpinska: Loads of delays…i waited for an hour before I was called in! Me and my partner felt extremely judged from the way the doctor was looking at us and the way he was speaking. The doctor didn’t seem to want to help us and completely dismissed us! Would definitely not recommend!
Richard Hexton: Performed Operation for Spinal Canal Stenosis Before I had no feeling in my left leg afterwards completely cured and feel all sensations Absolutely amazing and all pain on thighs and legs have gone after OperationMany thanks indeed you have changed my life Richard Hexton
Venom Hunter: Great staff but shocking after care, had double hernia and just told to go back to my doctors but I think it because the nhs paid I didn’t wouldn’t recommend based on that.
Zoe Magor: My partner had hernia surgery here today. Cannot fault the smooth operation of procedures, or the very helpful efficient staff. Clean, comfortable, and relaxed. The receptionists are also incredibly helpful! Made a very nervous patient and visitor feel more at ease.
Dave Kendall: At first looked very good and the staff were lovely, but when I saw my consultant he turned up 40mins late I was only the "second appointment" he didn't have the time to see me properly and only gave me 7mins to do a quick assessment and then told me to put up it.After that the consultant sent a letter saying I should adapt and how he couldn’t see how my problem would affect me in my life & work. "of which he knew nothing about.Which is why I was in the first place months ago. All in All--- wasted months off work with no pay for nothing."How ever the physio department tried hard and run to time.I am sure they benefit alot of people. "Disappointed is the feeling" regarding the consultant....Added 5 months later still trying to adapt.
Geoff Catchpole: Good thoughtful care.
Rahmonjon Boqiyev: Hi Oaks Hospital Team. Thank you for your service. How can I contact you by email or any social platform?
Sue Lockwood: Just like to thank everyone who cared for me while I was in for a hip replacement.Thank you for looking after me and all were very kind could not wish for nicer staff.
Amanda Holland: Caring staff, friendly and clean hospital. 2nd visit in 3 years
Heather Eady: I had a scan over 4 weeks ago and still not had the results or a follow up appointment or anyone contact me. I have called them twice and get told by the very blunt people that answer the phone that I just have to wait! Sorry but is this because I am an NHS patient? I have never had to wait this long for results for anything. Not impressed.I would not recommend
Mark Rushbrook: Just had full knee replacement staff are amazing best hospital l have ever been in thanks to all staff
Becky Gove: I can’t rate The Oaks high enough. I had an operation at The Oaks recently and everything from the initial appointment to the aftercare was first class. I would highly recommend
Braiswick Tyres ltd: I want to say a very Big Thankyou to Surgeon Mr Wardle for myoperation for a Total Hip Replacement. I Also would like to thank , Laura , the Anaesthetists, nurses especially Gabi, Physio's Beth, and Marcin, Canteen Staff , Cleaners, Receptionists, and all FIRST CLASS HOSPITAL AND STAFF many thanks Phil Chappell.
Linda Hannant: I would like to thank every member of staff who was looking after me on 4th of july for a total knee replacement. From the first call all the way to coming home, excellent service from everyone.Very happy staff and a very well done to all.I would recommend this hospital to anyone, the care received is second to none.Hospital at it's finest. Many thanksLinda.
Arpit PATEL: Called today to book a private dermatology appointment and got one booked for a month's time. Only to be called back several hours later informing me it would be a video appointment for the same price. The operator should have advised me of this at the start. Inexperienced.
Donna Hunn: The day before my husband's scheduled operation he received a vmail to call the hospital. He did so only to be told that his private operation had been cancelled due to the lack of an anesthetist being available. He was given a new date of 1 week later and told that hopefully the op would be able to go ahead then. Bearing in mind it has taken almost 3 months to get to this point. We are shocked and very unhappy about it.!
Jan Hopkins: I can't phrases the oaks enough. I was looked after so well all the staff were so kind. I had my knee replacement on the 23/5/22. I had never stayed in hospital before they put my mind at rest. Thank you.

Ralph O'Donel: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueThey responded very quickly to our enquiry arranged an appointment quickly and fitted the new boiler within a week after accepting quotation. The engineer worked well, cleanly, kept us informed and helped with setting up the Hive which was not straightforward. Basically order, fitted and arranged for warranty etc. without fuss.Service:Water heater installation
john petherbridge: Service:Plumbing pipe repairCritical:Value
Hugh Beattie: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,QualityI had some more radiators put in, and all went according to plan! The plumber was strait to the point and effective. Thank you so much, to all at A&D.Service:Heating system maintenance
Janet Davies: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,ResponsivenessNew Grant oil combi boiler installed. All work completed satisfactorily, on time.Service:Water heater installation
David Goldsmith: In fact, a complete new boiler system (not listed above) As a nominated installer for Baxi boilers they did the perfect job. Before my retirement, I was in the home appliance industry and as Key Account Manager for Miele (the BMW/Merc) of appliances, service was as important as the original sale. A&D responded after Baxi passed the call within 24 hours and were on site and working on the project the very next day. Efficient, tidy and courteous. No drama at all. From start to finish it was two working days for a new boiler, with the modern gas checks etc, new thermostat and other modifications. In all, a first class job. I recommend A & D for all your heating and plumbing needs.Service:Water heater installation
Richard Whittam: Positive:ProfessionalismTeam arrived as committed, did a great job - professional from quotation to job completion, and follow up to make sure everything ok.Service:Heating system maintenance
Graham Weir: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueLooked for professional answer to perennial plumbing problems and found A&D. When boiler went I got excellent service and quality of work. Very pleased.Services:Water heater installation,Heating system maintenance
Patricia Lyons: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueWhat a fantastic service from start to finish. We had a back boiler removed and a combi installed in the loft. Kevin, Matt and Gary had it done within the week, despite it needing new pipes, an additional radiator and electrics, there was so little mess and everything was done really speedily. We are very happy.Service:Heating system maintenance
Susannah Banks: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,ValueWe had a new oil boiler fitted and the engineers did a great job. Were reliable and worked very hard. They were also very tidy and quiet. I completely recommend their services.
Les Canham: With oil prices so high we thought we’d bite the bullet and replace our 1970’s oil boiler with a new efficient model, along with the addition of TRV’s on all radiators. Got several quotes and decided on A&D because of price and professionalism when providing their quote and answering follow up questions.I wondered if there would be any problems due to the age of the original system but if there were, they were all overcome and work was completed as per quote with everything being left clean and tidy. Would definitely use again and will be using for boiler service next year.
Perry: They came, fixed the issue that’s all well and good cant fault that aspect however ,…. Be prepared to be ripped off on parts, I’ve ended up paying double for a Grundfos UPS3 pump, I was charged just over £180 for the part, these are for sale in any local screwfix or plumbers merchants for £90 odd pound,… this experience ruined it for me should have asked for a receipt for the part as I would have flat out refused had I known at the time what I was being charged! Will not use again as I feel like they have taken the piss out of me,…I warn anyone who gets work done to ask for part receipts, don’t get ripped off!!
Kathleen Sant: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,Value
Paul Hayward: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,ResponsivenessExcellent speedy service arrived within 2 hours of making initial call-out.Services:Water heater repair,Plumbing pipe repair
Chris Braby: What an excellent Company this is.They fitted a new Oil Boiler and from the start they were professional and efficient completing the job in the time quoted.Always keeping us informed at each stage. We would not hesitate in recommending them.Service:Water heater installation
Toorop Ramlugon: I made contact with this company on 01206 205940 A&D at 12:30 on the 7th of March 2022 this morning and spoke to someone from the company, I booked a job with the company to fix my Toilet that is leaking flush tank. They said an plumber will come to my property between 3 and 6pm, I have been Waiting all day and the time is now 7:15pm unfortunately no one bothered to turn up not even a phone call. To all the people thats reading this please note that I have noticed some company they put fake review and fake websites be careful, I believe this company is fake, I thought they were trustworthy and a genuine company, I would not contact this company again I don't recommend this company to anyone as they have wasted my time all day today please be careful everyone. In regards to the owner of the company replying to my message I disagree completely I phone him again to explain the situation and I did speak to the same person and I told him to listen to the last recording and made on the 7th of March, I told him I dont need his service any longer. We are the customer we are aways right. Plumber company you see on Google a lot of them are fraud and fake. So once again everyone be careful when contacting any website on Google especially local plumber. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE
Mike Barnetson: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueWe had a small issue with the flue on our boiler that A & D installed very neatly last year. It was quickly dealt with and resolved by Daniel and Kevin. I don't think you ever really know a company until you see how they deal with after sales issues. A professional organisation that I am happy to recommend.Service:Water heater installation
Leila Farrow: I never usually am happy enough with any service from anywhere to leave a good review....However...This company blew us away from the first phone call to the finished job! Fantastic service! I rang explaining my mum wasn't very good with her memory and not so comfy with strangers in the house, and I wasn't there to assist her at this time, they came to a leaky oil boiler within the hour! Helped clean up, then got hot on the trail to find parts for her ancient boiler ! All the way through keeping me informed with prices and options, we chose to update the boiler in the end and Wow, lots of work for a very good price ! ...we really can't thank them enough...even giving options of different ways to pay as i couldn't be there, so not to put pressure on an old lady alone. They left everything in immaculate condition and re plumbed my mum's washing machine elsewhere for her! So clean infact she thought they'd delivered a new washing machine as well! If anyone from A&D read this ...Thankyou so much! We will use you for anything plumbing/ boiler related for the foreseeable future! XService:Water heater installation
Geoff Nurse: Very helpful and were able to quote competitively to replace our ageing oil fired boiler. Very fast service as we were struggling to heat the house for disabled mother in law. The engineers arrived on time and carried out the work quickly and very professionally. Worked clean and tidy and left the site clean. Only way you would know they had been there was the house was lovely and warmHighly recommended and very reliable.Service:Water heater installation
Shakir Khan: Installed a boiler within a week of quote being given. Friendly guys, good service, no stress!
Mick Bond: We used A&D Plumbing Services this week to install a new Baxi boiler, to replace our old, 19-year old Baxi, after too many call outs for an aging system. We worked with Baxi who recommended A&D, as they were Baxi trained.Great service, from start to finish. The initial visit to review and quote was done by Kevin and he was open and honest about the job and the work required. The quote was very comparable with others and we decided to go with these guys. And we were not disappointed. Kevin was assigned the job, with Alan and they worked really well. They found a minor gas leak on our meter and sorted that with Cadent immediately and worked very hard to install and commission in one day, so that we would have hot water and heating on the first cold night of the year.Rewarded with copious tea & coffee and a bacon sandwich (why not?) as they were courteous and professional and a credit to the company. And the only mess left behind were a few small pieces of polystyrene from the packaging. No mess, no fuss, hot water and heating. completed!Thank you for such a professional standard of work.Service:Water heater installation
