Lizzie Carter: Loved it..!! Bags of history and character, extremely comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff.Would definately book to stay again..
Tina Aylett: The room we had was lovely ,very clean and comfortable. But the young girl at breakfast didn't have a clue what she was doing infacr she was quite rude .. ordered coffee, and she brought us tea ,then making out we said tea ( when I know I wouldn't have because I don't drink tea) when the coffee did come it was cold . And the breakfast was definitely not value for money
Dan Scott Professional Wedding Photographer: Fantastic wedding venue! Beautiful old venue with amazing staff!
Ian Brown: Stay at Premier Inn instead.Run-down, poorly maintained (I want to say franchise) noisy and terrible location in a busy triangle of road.I won’t be using Best Western again.Rooms: Bed was relatively comfy but everything else was massively outdated and worn heavily.A really negative place to rest and work for an hour.Noteworthy details: Bins get emptied at 5am on a Wednesday, which is always nice to hear the refuse workers having a chat about the football.Windows offer very little protection against noise and light is an issue in the room as the business is illuminated and constantly feels like it’s morning.Terrible squeaky floors above woke me every time the resident above moved.Paintwork and furniture are run-down and tired. Not enough power sockets and doors were heavy, thick and stick.
Christopher Smart: Stayed overnight following a family birthday party. Lovely room, all staff were great, especially Naomie, very helpful. Great freshly made breakfast the following morningRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Kid-friendly, Great value …More
Yvonne Clipston: Great Tudor hotel very friendly staff excellent breakfast 5* enjoyable stay
Clare Peto: Bathroom was newly renovated but the towel rail burns your knee when sitting on the loo, unless you sit sideways! Nice and cozy in there when bathing.Bedroom quite chilly and you hear each train that passes.Plentiful coffee and sugar.Concierge very helpful upon reception. No food at the hotel but concierge is happy to make recommendations.Parking is tight and hard to find from the road.Wifi not great!Corner shop nearby offers a fair selection of snack foods and drinks.Hotel is beautiful and quirky!
Manpal Ghataura: Stayed here for a night when we had our team meeting. The hotel has character and history. Unfortunately during our stay they didn't serve any hot food except for breakfast. But you could bring in a takeaway. Service was good and room was comfortable.Rooms: 3/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5Hotel highlights Great value …More

David bourner: Just returned from 3 days away at the beautiful lakeside cabin water lily LodgeWith our dog!such a peaceful serene setting everything was perfect you are left in peace nobody bothers you but if you need questions answered or help there are people available! We always book getaways that are quiet and close to nature and this is the best by far we have already booked to go back and cannot wait.
Lucy Heavens: We, and our extended family and friends, stayed at Teybrook Orchard in August 2019, as a big wedding party. We had such a blast!! We had around 100 people during the day and then a whole bunch of us stayed over night. We all wished that we’d stayed for longer! It was a fantastic option for kids, which left the adults time to socialize more. The fathers of the bride and groom cooked up a fab breakfast in the morning, and the kids (and adults!) had s’mores around the fire. There was plenty of space to spread out and have food trucks and activities for kids, like face painting. Honestly it was incredible and I cannot recommend it enough!
Justin Bennett: Well! We all know how difficult it is to get quality accommodation for the prices they are charging in England these days!We have found a jewel, and not far away either. The Kingfishers Nest has it all!Comfortable bed, unique bath, shower, Sauna, hot-tub and comfortable furniture. Has everything you need away from home, with well placed lighting and they have paid a lot of attention to the finer details making this self-catering/pet friendly accommodation the best we have ever experience in the UK 🇬🇧 😊. Five star's and we will definitely be back and hope to stay longer next time. Excellent value for money. Well done to Sarah and her team 👏.
Brittany Darlow: Me and my husband got married at Teybrook Orchard May 2022, I can still not get over how perfect this venue was. As soon as we stepped foot on it we knew it was where we wanted to have our wedding. Becky was amazing and kept in touch with us throughout, from meeting us on site, taking us on a tour, explaining how everything would work on the day and keeping us calm with zoom calls and emails ensuring us everything would be smooth sailing. It was just that, I can't fault our day and people are still talking about how much the venue couldn't have been more of a perfect reflection of us as a couple. All the staff were polite and helpful, bar staff were attentive and fun. Thank you so much Browning Bros, we look forward to visiting again in the future, this will definitely be an anniversary spot for us!!
Christie Solomons: We had our beautiful wedding here in September 2022. What an amazing venue. We had a few hiccups with our suppliers and the team at Tey Brook stepped up to the plate and really helped us. Our guests were absolutely stunned by the venue they had never seen anything like it. A big shout out to Helen and Becky for organising the venue for us and doing all they could for us on the day. Please if you are looking for a hidden gem for a wedding venue check this place out! Thanks again x
Susan Peet: Stunning, wonderful xxxwill return
Quechelle: This was the perfect little getaway. Lovely quiet area surrounded by woodland and fields. We spent a couple of nights at the Water Lily Lodge, it was the perfect setting to relax and unwind. Pretty lake views and nice hot tub
Michael Goodchild: Nice venue, kitchen facilities ok, hot water in kitchen broken so had to boil water or get from the(very nice) toilet/shower block. Birds very noisy around dawn if you're used to town life.Knocked off a star for the kitchen water and that someone was meant to light the pizza oven about 6. Did the fire pit but not the wood burning boven, so we had to do it ourselves later so delayed food to the point where some people had to go before eating
S Coughlin: The worst experience. As a seasoned glamper I was super excited to come on a hen do to this amazing site. The place was great but there was no hot water in the kitchen, cobwebs everywhere and the hot tub water was green. I could deal with all this but unfortunately the owner was incredibly aggressive and ensured our stay was a negative one. At 6.30pm we were playing some music from our speaker and he came and stole my speaker from me, he said it was too loud, which is a fair comment but I was incredibly upset to have my own property stolen from me and locked away. The treatment of guests is appalling and I will not be recommending this place to anyone. The sad part of this site is that the owners have forgotten that the sole purpose of running a glamping site is to ensure people have a nice time. After waiting 2 years to have this event due to covid, we were robbed of a positive experience, such a shame.
Jamie McD: Stayed in the Kingfishers Nest for 2 nights, absolute bliss. Cabin was immaculate, cosy, super comfortable and a brilliant way to escape!
James Robinson: We hosted our wedding at Chalkney Water Meadows on Saturday 26th June 2021 and it truly was a dream. It was all we could of wished for and more. After a very stressful time with another venue and our wedding being cancelled due to covid-19 we found ourselves looking for another venue. Right from the get go Nat showed nothing but empathy to our situation, professionalism, optimism and a calm approach going forward. The lead up to the day was a worry due to the constant changes to restrictions from the government. But in true Nat style he kept us calm throughout; checking in with us, asking us what we wanted to do and never added additional stress, always elevated it where possible. He was amazing to work with alongside his great team who showed perfect communication. The venue itself is absolutely stunning! When we viewed the venue we booked it on a vision and seeing it all come together on our wedding day was so special. The lake is very picturesque as well as the beautiful meadow it is set in. I am a big believer in things happening for a reason and we are truly grateful we ended up having our wedding at CWM. A day us and our guests will never forget! The venue offers a blank canvas which was just right for us because we were able to personalise it and incorporate our own themes into our day. We even hired an ice cream van to surprise our guests with. The options are endless...Furthermore, the venue welcomes couples and their bridal/grooms party to arrive from the Friday to set up. This meant we were able to set up ahead of time and settle at the venue the day before which all added to the memories of our wedding weekend. In addition to the venue itself the grounds offer two ideal lodges surrounded by beautiful scenery. Which is a stone throw away from the main venue. This was perfect for myself and my bridal party to get ready in the night before the wedding and the morning of at the Water Lily Lodge. We shared many laughs in the hot tub together. The MUA and hairstylist were both able to work their magic in this generous space. This lodge now holds such special memories for us and the photographer's photos are just so stunning. We even had regular visits from the 2 beautiful swans who have adopted the lake as their home, which just added to the whole experience. As well as adhoc visits from herons flying in.Then on the eve of our wedding myself and my husband stayed in the Kingfisher Lodge which is ideal for couples. Again it is just a stone throw away and it is situated in a beautiful setting which over looks the lake too. The decor inside is modern but yet compliments the venue itself.Another tick factor for us was the accommodation options they offer for the guests. A few options on site are; hiring a bell tent for the night, pitching a tent or a patch for a motorhome. This was ideal for our guests as they could walk back to their chosen accommodation at the end of the night. Feedback from our guests said how it was a great experience! All our guests have repeatedly told us what a beautiful, wonderful venue it was and for some it was the BEST wedding they have ever attended! CWM have set the bar high for future weddings for us all and hearing feedback like this from our guests just echoes how myself and my husband feel about the venue.Due to the past 15 months being a very difficult time for us all due to Covid-19. Our wedding gave us all something to look forward to and the majority of our guests turned it into a perfect excuse for a weekend away. For the majority it was the wedding we all needed and was waiting for. It was perfect timing! We honestly could not of wished for a better venue to host our wedding at and for better owners to work with. I have no doubt that their caring humble attitude will continue to make many more couples as happy as they have made us.Thank you so much Nat, Becky, Archie and the rest of the team for an unforgettable wedding weekend at your venue. What a stunning hidden gem it is!Love from Mr and Mrs Robinson x
Emma Hinkson: Chalkney Water Meadows was the perfect venue for our festival wedding! From the lakeside ceremony to the teepee party, everything was as we wanted. We had the freedom to decorate and to make the venue our own for the wedding. Nat and Becky made all the arrangements as easy as possible and we have to give a special round of applause to the bar staff who helped make it a truly incredible weekend! 10/10 would do it again 😍
Dawn Titterall: Absolutely stunning. Loved the cabin and location.Sat in the hot tub as soon as I woke up, watched the deers in the woods, the swans and ducks on the lake. The accommodation is perfect, modern and so natural and at one with nature.Couldn't fault it, we would definitely visit again.Thank you
Akilah Davies: Had such an amazing weekend at Chalkney Water Meadows. Attended for a wedding. Fantastic venue, everything you needed on site. Beautiful location. The beds were incredible!
Judith Webster: We had a brilliant weekend at Teybrook Orchard with a group of friends. We camp together every year and this was by far the best site we have stayed at. The facilities were excellent and all the accommodation was clean and comfortable The site offered shady spots and plenty of room for football, cricket and rounders.
Victoria Winstanley: Had my hen do here and it was amazing! Great facilities, yurts have everything you need. Kitchen is well equipped. Hot tub in a beautiful setting in the wood. Ewan was on hand to help with the hot tub and pizza oven - nothing was too much trouble. A brilliant location for a big group event and very well run!The walk suggestion up to The Swan pub was perfect. 5 stars!!
Nadine Morriss: Absolutely incredible! Such a special place. From the moment we sent our initial enquiry Becky and the team were so helpful and welcoming and helped us book any activities and excursions. We arrived and was greeted by Euan who helped get us set up and settled and showed us around. - (he even put our food shop away as we had been stuck in traffic when it arrived) The venue itself is stunning and so magical. Loads of different style accommodation to suit everyones tastes and needs. The kitchen was fully equipped and in really great condition with plenty of crockery, storage and fridges. Same for the toilet blocks which was far superior than our expectation. 10 of us had hot showers every day and plenty of water etc. The marquee was perfect to dine in for when it got cooler and we enjoyed the firepit and log burning hot tub on both nights. Becky sent us details for a lovely field walk to a local pub which was greatly appreciated and above and beyond what we thought we would be getting. Felt like we had VIP concierge throughout our stay. Thank you so much to the entire team for making our hen weekend so perfect. Already trying to book in again and wish you all the best for a busy season ahead x
brenda manning: Thoroughly recommend. We are defo coming back ☆☆☆☆☆
Mario Shephard: What a beautiful venue. Highly recommended

Saint Bat: I absolutely love the atmosphere at Wivenhoe House. The setting in the grounds of the University of Essex overlooking one of the lakes is so beautiful at all times of the day but especially at sunset. This is very local to me & I have come here for years so have seen it change dramatically and improve aesthetically & structurally over the years as my father worked on the refurbishment. The old mansion has been extended with a very modern wing to house the restaurant.I WANT to give an honest review but I really WANT to give it a good review also. But i feel let down whenever I come for a meal which is often. The afternoon tea is always fantastic. As a vegetarian there is always something unusual & new to eat & their own veggie sausage rolls are delicious. There are some amazing cocktails on offer too.But when I come for a formal dinner I am always a bit disappointed. There is only ever one vegetarian option ,(other than pizza), & it often consists largely of something like mushroom or aubergine which are two of the only things I cannot eat. Fair enough, they don't know what I can't eat.But just ONE option ? When we ask for an alternative it invariably takes around 30mins of discussion & waiting around for a decision or suggestion to be made.It seems like a lot of hassle , almost embarrassment from me as it gets passed from one waitress to a waiter, to the manager & sometimes then the chef.Last time I was the one who had to suggest what could be made as nothing was actually offered. It would be great if you could include more than one option or at least have other suggestions ready without all the bother in such a high class restaurant. I want to love the food here & eat something with some imagination that I've never had before.

stephanie george: Great hotel with themed rooms but not fickle or trite. Quite classical in terms of themes.Afternoon tea was good, dinner was first class, breakfast cooked to order . Really enjoyable stay - not the easiest place to find. Iots of trainees doing a splendid job as it’s linked to the university hotel mngt courses .Standard of service is high.

Nikki Bedford: A fabulous getaway for a special birthday. The staff were wonderful and very welcoming. A delicious meal was had in the evening and a room service breakfast was a lovely treat.A small mix up on the bill when leaving was swiftly resolved when highlighted at reception. Can't wait to make a return visit.

Austin's Flowers - florist for all occasions: We love this venue, beautifully run with an extremely helpful team. We have provided wedding flowers to this gorgeous and unique venue, and it was a complete pleasure. We look forward to providing more wedding flowers to this wonderful venue in the future.(Photos LGordon Photography)
Andrew Johnson: Our daughter and future son in law are getting married here in November 2023. This was our first visit, and we left feeling very content with Adam and his amazing team.We can not wait to return for 'the big day'.
Kilroy Films: I had the pleasure of shooting a wedding video at this stunning venue on July 26th 2022. I always make sure I introduce myself to the venue before the big day, so there are no surprises and we can all work together with the couple and guests top of mind. Liz responded to my intro email promptly and warmly and when I arrived on the day I met with her and she happily showed me around the whole venue and answered any questions that I had making me feel at ease, welcome and most importantly ready to do my job well. I even met the owner Andrew briefly as he was busy helping his staff prep the venue. The whole vibe here is relaxed, professional and fun and I cannot wait to get the opportunity to work here again. The venue is stunning and I would highly recommend to any couple looking for a beautiful wedding venue.
Alfie Carroll: WHAT A VENUE! We've always dreamt of a rustic winter wedding, and everything about this venue lived up to our expectations- the unexpected snow made it even more magical! We couldn't have had a more perfect day, the staff were so attentive and couldn't do enough for us. The honeymoon suite and farmhouse were ideal for all our family at the end of the night. We had so many compliments on the beautiful venue and we couldn't fault a thing. Thank you for making our wedding day so special !Mr and Mrs Carroll x
Chris Munday: We had our wedding here last summer and it couldn't have been more perfect. Beautiful venue and extremely helpful and friendly staff. Everything was timed perfectly and delivered as promised. Highly recommended.
Derek Wright: Went to a wedding here and is beautiful

David Jarrett: Had a great time, staff all friendly
Ernest Joslin: Was incredibly fortunate to be invited to the wedding of the daughter of some friends. It was a fantastic venue which seemed to cater for the needs of the happy couple brilliantly. 💏
James Poulter: I attended a wedding here. I really enjoyed it, nice venue, nice staff, good food. Only downside was that there were a lot of wasps, which probably can't be helped.
Maureen Munday: Perfect wedding venue.
Melissa Cullen: My husband and I got engaged during one of the many lockdowns of the COVID pandemic. We were really struggling to find a venue that ticked all the boxes for our wedding day until we stumbled across Houchins. The venue is beautiful, and the accommodation next door is quirky and steeped in history. Every interaction we had with the Houchins staff was a pleasure, no request was ever too much. Alongside our initial visit to the venue we also attended a number of wedding shows there, giving us a real indication of what was possible. On the day itself Eloise and team were fantastic, they were highly professional and everything ran like clockwork. I highly recommend Houchins to all. Melissa and Dave.
Darren Switzer: Nice place staff were very helpful
Sadaf Zahid: Dont have words to describe its beauty
Martyn Oakley: Great evening celebrating friends wedding. Wonderful location, friendly staff, nice food, air-conditioned dance floor. Which was needed on the Tuesday evening we were there!

Louise Graves: We were fortunate enough to get married at this stunning wedding venue on Saturday 18/03/2023 and it was absolutely the best thing we have even done! All the team at East Mersea Hall Wedding and Events Venue are so so good at what they do! They are the most helpful team I have ever met, especially Anneka who absolutely made our day! We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding coordinator. She was absolutely amazing in all the planning and so so helpful on the day too! All the suppliers also said how amazing she was and that they had never seen a wedding coordinator help the bride so much on the day! Forever grateful! It’s safe to say we chose the best wedding venue and I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to get married not only for the amazing people but the stunning views, it really is a venue that has it all!
RS G: Beautiful setting for my daughters wedding!!
Hannah Slaughter: Myself & my new Husband got married at East Mersea hall on the 19th of November 2022.We viewed in February of the same year, and I knew the second I saw the beautiful grounds that was where we would get married. In fact it was the only venue we viewed.During the lead up to the wedding the team were organised, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. Our actual day ran like clockwork. I had so little to do besides enjoy our day. The team took charge of everything - however big or small. The food and service was second to none & we had so many compliments on choice of food as we had the bbq. Every member of staff were kind, courteous and polite. And the grounds speak for themselves, they made for an incredibly beautiful back drop to our Autumn wedding.I can’t recommend the venue enough, Anneka, Kirsty & their team are absolute professionals at what they do and when I say they are cool calm and collected every step of the way I really mean it. Which is exactly what you need on your wedding day!Thank-you so much for making my wedding vision come alive - our whole day was like a fairytale. A real dream come true
Hannah Craig: Not only how amazingly beautiful this wedding venue is, it is also filled with the nicest, kindest and most helpful team. From start to finish they went above and beyond for us, so that our wedding day was special.Anneka was amazing and any questions we had or anything we wanted she made it happened. Even to the point of personally drying the boat out so we could get in it.The food was amazing and there was plenty of it.We couldn’t have had a better wedding day it was perfect and that was all thanks to Anneka and the teamFrom the new Mr and Mrs Rampton
Eleanor Morris: We got married at East Mersea hall on 24/09/22. We can truly not rate this venue enough!! Anneka was absolutely amazing with sorting everything, replying to emails and making sure everything ran smoothly. The staff on the day were amazing, the venue was kept clean and tidy and everything ran smoothly. We have had a lot of guests mention how nice the staff were and how lovely the venue was. The food was beautiful and very well presented we had lots of comments of how lovely it was. We can’t thank Anneka and the staff enough for our amazing day. We truly have memories that will last forever. Thank you All xx
Andrew Leighton: Me and my wife recently celebrated our wedding at East Mersea Hall, and it really was the perfect venue for our wedding. We booked the venue in the height of covid without even being able to visit the venue, but this risk paid off massively.Anneka, Kirsty and the team really went above and beyond to ensure every last detail of our wedding went to plan. The whole process of wedding planning was completely smooth with Anneka happy to accommodate any request for our wedding, with many of our guests commenting how wonderful the venue and whole day was.I would not hesitate in an instant to book this venue again. Thanks again to East Mersea Hall for hosting our wedding!
Amy Hewer: We had an absolutely amazing day at East Mersea Hall. We honestly could not have asked for anything more. The venue is so picturesque, the food was delicious and most importantly the staff are so amazing and accomodating and we would like to thank the whole team, especially Anneka, for helping everything to run so smoothly for us 💕
Joshua Crisp (CrispSkies): We cannot thank Kirsty, Anneka, and the team enough for making our wedding day such a great memory. After postponing twice due to Covid, we finally got to tie the knot in August this year, allowing family and friends from around the world to come and celebrate with us, which we are very grateful to Kirsty for.Anneka was an absolute god-send, smoothing out all the kinks and crinkles and soothing any worries all the way through the planning right up to and throughout the day.The venue is stunning with lots of great places for a wide range of photo styles, all of our guests greatly complimented the beauty of it and our photographer had a field day exploring! The catering team was excellent, we had a vegan wedding and our guests loved the menu choices, the care taken, and taste! The options for evening food were fantastic too, again we received lovely compliments from our guests.Overall we couldn’t have had any more of a perfect day. We would rate the place and the staff higher if we could.
Clair McSherry: WOW what an amazing place. Our wedding went by without a hitch. Everyone said it was an amazing place. My whole day was as perfect as perfect can be. The venue. The staff. Everyone was very accommodating. Thank you for making my day as perfect as perfect can be. 👰🤵💍🎉❤️
Gail: We got married at East Mersea Hall on 27th August 2022 and it was a perfect, magical day. From our initial enquiry, Anneka and Kirsty were professional. obliging, responsive and all you could ask for. The day itself ran smoothly, the food and service was incredible and the venue itself was just beautiful. We had our ceremony in the garden and the wedding breakfast and evening in the Pavilion, all of our guests said it was a fantastic wedding. The bridal suite for getting ready in and our overnight stay was fantastic and the breakfast basket the next morning was a nice touch. Thank you all so much for a truly wonderful day. Gail and Sax.
West Country Mama: We booked our wedding at East Mersea Hall over 2 1/2 years ago… We were so impressed with Kirsty, her vision and passion we booked immediately. Our wedding was then postponed once and we then moved to 2022.We finally got married in July and I can say that it was absolute perfection. East Mersea Hall is the MOST stunning venue. We had a tipi in the secret garden and our wedding day was a dream from start to finish.Kirsty and the team made everything run so smoothly and seamlessly and made sure that my husband and I really enjoyed our day.Everyone thought we were crazy organising a wedding with 3 little kids, but it was a joy from start to finish and you all made it so easy. The food was out of this world and our guests were really blown away by how amazing it was. From the meetings, to the tastings and constant reassurance and care, I cannot recommend Kirsty and her team enough. Thank you for helping us to have the most amazing celebration and tying the knot at East Mersea Hall was the best decision we made and has been he perfect way to celebrate becoming Mr & Mrs xxx
Emma Sestak: We had the most wonderful wedding from before the big day to the end of the day everything was spot on!Anneka will make sure everything runs like clockwork, whilst the venue and the grounds speak for themselves! I didn’t have to do much at all anneka and Kirsty took care of everything and we had the best day ever! We are so glad we chose east mersea hall. Amazing food perfectly run and everything is top notch from the service to the dance floor ❤️ Nothing was too much trouble Thankyou!
Peter Moore: Kirsty and Anneka at East Mersea Hall were the perfect wedding planners we could have hoped for.3 years waiting to be married and it definitely was worth the wait.ALL of our guests were saying how wonderful the venue is. They couldn't believe how we had found a place with the setting it has, how nice the reception/ disco was and how good the food was. So much food!!!Thank you all so much for making our day run so smoothly. We definitely couldn't have done it without you both.We wish you all the success for the future and are already trying to figure out a way we can come back to have another party with you!
John Bradshaw: Wonderful setting and extremely helpful staff. Brilliant!
Melody Diem: The service was very friendly, thoughtful and professional. Our guests were really impressed with the beautiful venue and excellent service and all really enjoyed the canapes and wedding breakfast. Would highly recommend.
DJ Samuel Hann: This venue has so many different areas for photographs, plus when day turns to night the water is lit up in a stunning manor for yet again more photograph opportunities. When going to this venue it is rude not to have a go on the big swing. You can also have an outdoor ceremony in a beautiful dedicated ceremony area. The team here are very friendly and help the day run smoothly. This is a great venue to be able to customize the day and add unique suppliers and make your day special.
Paul Murphy: The venue is amazing but the best thing about East Mersea is Anneka and Kirsty!!! :-) They are cool as ice, such pros and so lovely, which is just what you need on your wedding day. They made everything so easy, so straightforward, I was so impressed by them!!! East Mersea itself is incredible, all of our guests kept telling us how amazing the venue is, they loved how many different little cool parts there are to hang out, they all gave it rave reviews. You really can't go wrong with East Mersea, it's an epic venue with awesome people running it!!!!
Andy “Shaggys Massive Roadshow”: Had the pleasure of entertaining for a wedding at this stunning venue. fantastic helpful staff in a perfect venue for any event
WilliePete: East Mersea Hall was absolutely perfect. We fell in love with it instantly when we looked around, and Mersea itself was a special place for us as we spent a lot of time there when we started dating. It really is a gem. The grounds are stunning and our guests were constantly talking about it for days afterwards. The water lillies were in bloom and the grounds were perfect for guests to mingle and provided many beautiful photo opportunities. The staff took great care of us and our guests throughout the day and helped keep us organised. Anneka our organiser was great, especially in the lead up to the wedding helping advise us on what needed to be done and adapting to last minute changes. We were thrilled to find a venue that would allow our dog there for the ceremony and reception drinks too.I cannot stress enough how much we loved our day and it will be the best of memories for years to come.
Emily Underwood: After postponing our wedding twice we finally tied the knot at this amazing venue! We were originally getting married somewhere else but fell head over heels in love with East Mersea Hall and their incredible staff. Anneka was absolutely amazing in the lead up to the wedding, nothing was too much trouble, even rearranging the table plan just days before - she made it so easy and straightforward for us, no panic or stress whatsoever. Our wedding was absolutely perfect and all of our guests commented on how the staff went above and beyond for us. Highly recommend, 5 stars isn’t enough! X
Mel Garrod: Well what can I say, after two years of our wedding being cancelled due to lockdown restrictions, we decided to move our venue to east mersea hall, and what a great decision that was, they are so accommodating, their attention to detail is second to non. Thoroughly recommend this venue.RegardsMel and Dennis palfrey

Chloe Brett: An average hotel really you get what you pay for nice room but had a few annoying things such as the room was boiling all night even with the radiator off as the pipes were still scorching hot, the fan didn't work and also the shower. Also had way through the night the TV switched itself on and work us both up.Rooms: 2/5|Service: 3/5|Location: 4/5Hotel highlights Quiet …More

Gesamt Eindruck akzeptabel.Rooms: Siehe Text Altbau und gemütlich Bett okay.
Mandy piper: Starf very helpful and friendlyRoom spotless, very clean 100%I can honestly say the building is amazing.Outstanding white cotton bedding . Fresh towels daily . Tea,coffee, milk .I highly recommend!!Such a welcoming atmosphereThanku to all the hard work you do . Kind regards Mandy Piper

Laura Love: Christmas Party arrived to a very cold venue, guests having to sit with coats on throughout the meal process.Food arrived cold and very poor quality even the gravy couldn’t warm the meal, on the roast the pigs in blankets had barely been shown to the oven. The bar had limited drinks available and what was available run out early into the evening.Other guests left shortly after not eating their meals which left the venue empty so took away from the Christmas Party atmosphere.Luckily the DJ Simon was great, played good music which got us dancing and warmed us up.I wouldn’t recommend this venue for any kind of event.Customer service unhelpful and basically calling us liars about the food being cold and the venue being cold and haven’t responded to the other points raised.Offered a one night stay for one how can that we split by 14 people and everyone has lost trust in the hotel.Avoid this place!

Ana Rodrigues: Welcoming and Cosy. Staff were very nice and welcoming. If there's anything you need, do not be afraid/shy to ask, we were looking for a haunted room so they were quickly to change us to one of the "most haunted rooms" in the hotel. Ok, yes the place is old/antique, there's no sound proof windows so if you stay in one of the rooms that look out into the high street then it can be quite noisy, but we weren't really bothered about those things and it's to be expected when you stay in a old hotel, so people shouldn't really be complaining and leaving bad reviews based on the obvious. It's just like going to a Zoo/farm and then complain about the smell of the animals! The Car park is in Osborne Street, a 5 min walk but it's only £4.95 for 24 hours so can't really complain. We also spent over an hour at the bar/restaurant talking to the gentleman working the night shift, it was lovely and refreshing to find such a down to Earth person. Overall it's a 5 out of 5, we really enjoyed our stay and thanks for having us.
Karen Webb: THE FOOD WAS HOT and fresh.Served quickly and with agood waitress .The atmosphere of old and cosy was so relaxing and enjoyableThankyouService: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Helen Mchugh: We had our Christmas works meal here in Friday. If depression were to be expressed through the medium of food they did a marvellous job. All.meals were cold; the roast was semi-passable, the beef bourguignon looked like canned war meat; the carbonara was cooked in stock with feta and pickled beets sprinkled. They claimed tye cheesecake was gluten free, I realised it wasnt after taking a mouthful, asked again and was assured it was, before asking again and being told it wasnt - ive been quite ill since. Thanks for that
Arseni Intelman: Normally I'm picking up just on some weak points. Always giving a chance for improvement. Unfortunately this place deserved no second chance. Stay away is the verdict. We a had a corporate Christmas dinner. I was left with bitter feeling. Staff is really rude and unprofessional. Food is terrible. Nearly no choice of any drinks. No sparkling water for example. This place must me shot down and re opened under new management
