David bourner: Just returned from 3 days away at the beautiful lakeside cabin water lily LodgeWith our dog!such a peaceful serene setting everything was perfect you are left in peace nobody bothers you but if you need questions answered or help there are people available! We always book getaways that are quiet and close to nature and this is the best by far we have already booked to go back and cannot wait.
Lucy Heavens: We, and our extended family and friends, stayed at Teybrook Orchard in August 2019, as a big wedding party. We had such a blast!! We had around 100 people during the day and then a whole bunch of us stayed over night. We all wished that we’d stayed for longer! It was a fantastic option for kids, which left the adults time to socialize more. The fathers of the bride and groom cooked up a fab breakfast in the morning, and the kids (and adults!) had s’mores around the fire. There was plenty of space to spread out and have food trucks and activities for kids, like face painting. Honestly it was incredible and I cannot recommend it enough!
Justin Bennett: Well! We all know how difficult it is to get quality accommodation for the prices they are charging in England these days!We have found a jewel, and not far away either. The Kingfishers Nest has it all!Comfortable bed, unique bath, shower, Sauna, hot-tub and comfortable furniture. Has everything you need away from home, with well placed lighting and they have paid a lot of attention to the finer details making this self-catering/pet friendly accommodation the best we have ever experience in the UK 🇬🇧 😊. Five star's and we will definitely be back and hope to stay longer next time. Excellent value for money. Well done to Sarah and her team 👏.
Brittany Darlow: Me and my husband got married at Teybrook Orchard May 2022, I can still not get over how perfect this venue was. As soon as we stepped foot on it we knew it was where we wanted to have our wedding. Becky was amazing and kept in touch with us throughout, from meeting us on site, taking us on a tour, explaining how everything would work on the day and keeping us calm with zoom calls and emails ensuring us everything would be smooth sailing. It was just that, I can't fault our day and people are still talking about how much the venue couldn't have been more of a perfect reflection of us as a couple. All the staff were polite and helpful, bar staff were attentive and fun. Thank you so much Browning Bros, we look forward to visiting again in the future, this will definitely be an anniversary spot for us!!
Christie Solomons: We had our beautiful wedding here in September 2022. What an amazing venue. We had a few hiccups with our suppliers and the team at Tey Brook stepped up to the plate and really helped us. Our guests were absolutely stunned by the venue they had never seen anything like it. A big shout out to Helen and Becky for organising the venue for us and doing all they could for us on the day. Please if you are looking for a hidden gem for a wedding venue check this place out! Thanks again x
Susan Peet: Stunning, wonderful xxxwill return
Quechelle: This was the perfect little getaway. Lovely quiet area surrounded by woodland and fields. We spent a couple of nights at the Water Lily Lodge, it was the perfect setting to relax and unwind. Pretty lake views and nice hot tub
Michael Goodchild: Nice venue, kitchen facilities ok, hot water in kitchen broken so had to boil water or get from the(very nice) toilet/shower block. Birds very noisy around dawn if you're used to town life.Knocked off a star for the kitchen water and that someone was meant to light the pizza oven about 6. Did the fire pit but not the wood burning boven, so we had to do it ourselves later so delayed food to the point where some people had to go before eating
S Coughlin: The worst experience. As a seasoned glamper I was super excited to come on a hen do to this amazing site. The place was great but there was no hot water in the kitchen, cobwebs everywhere and the hot tub water was green. I could deal with all this but unfortunately the owner was incredibly aggressive and ensured our stay was a negative one. At 6.30pm we were playing some music from our speaker and he came and stole my speaker from me, he said it was too loud, which is a fair comment but I was incredibly upset to have my own property stolen from me and locked away. The treatment of guests is appalling and I will not be recommending this place to anyone. The sad part of this site is that the owners have forgotten that the sole purpose of running a glamping site is to ensure people have a nice time. After waiting 2 years to have this event due to covid, we were robbed of a positive experience, such a shame.
Jamie McD: Stayed in the Kingfishers Nest for 2 nights, absolute bliss. Cabin was immaculate, cosy, super comfortable and a brilliant way to escape!
James Robinson: We hosted our wedding at Chalkney Water Meadows on Saturday 26th June 2021 and it truly was a dream. It was all we could of wished for and more. After a very stressful time with another venue and our wedding being cancelled due to covid-19 we found ourselves looking for another venue. Right from the get go Nat showed nothing but empathy to our situation, professionalism, optimism and a calm approach going forward. The lead up to the day was a worry due to the constant changes to restrictions from the government. But in true Nat style he kept us calm throughout; checking in with us, asking us what we wanted to do and never added additional stress, always elevated it where possible. He was amazing to work with alongside his great team who showed perfect communication. The venue itself is absolutely stunning! When we viewed the venue we booked it on a vision and seeing it all come together on our wedding day was so special. The lake is very picturesque as well as the beautiful meadow it is set in. I am a big believer in things happening for a reason and we are truly grateful we ended up having our wedding at CWM. A day us and our guests will never forget! The venue offers a blank canvas which was just right for us because we were able to personalise it and incorporate our own themes into our day. We even hired an ice cream van to surprise our guests with. The options are endless...Furthermore, the venue welcomes couples and their bridal/grooms party to arrive from the Friday to set up. This meant we were able to set up ahead of time and settle at the venue the day before which all added to the memories of our wedding weekend. In addition to the venue itself the grounds offer two ideal lodges surrounded by beautiful scenery. Which is a stone throw away from the main venue. This was perfect for myself and my bridal party to get ready in the night before the wedding and the morning of at the Water Lily Lodge. We shared many laughs in the hot tub together. The MUA and hairstylist were both able to work their magic in this generous space. This lodge now holds such special memories for us and the photographer's photos are just so stunning. We even had regular visits from the 2 beautiful swans who have adopted the lake as their home, which just added to the whole experience. As well as adhoc visits from herons flying in.Then on the eve of our wedding myself and my husband stayed in the Kingfisher Lodge which is ideal for couples. Again it is just a stone throw away and it is situated in a beautiful setting which over looks the lake too. The decor inside is modern but yet compliments the venue itself.Another tick factor for us was the accommodation options they offer for the guests. A few options on site are; hiring a bell tent for the night, pitching a tent or a patch for a motorhome. This was ideal for our guests as they could walk back to their chosen accommodation at the end of the night. Feedback from our guests said how it was a great experience! All our guests have repeatedly told us what a beautiful, wonderful venue it was and for some it was the BEST wedding they have ever attended! CWM have set the bar high for future weddings for us all and hearing feedback like this from our guests just echoes how myself and my husband feel about the venue.Due to the past 15 months being a very difficult time for us all due to Covid-19. Our wedding gave us all something to look forward to and the majority of our guests turned it into a perfect excuse for a weekend away. For the majority it was the wedding we all needed and was waiting for. It was perfect timing! We honestly could not of wished for a better venue to host our wedding at and for better owners to work with. I have no doubt that their caring humble attitude will continue to make many more couples as happy as they have made us.Thank you so much Nat, Becky, Archie and the rest of the team for an unforgettable wedding weekend at your venue. What a stunning hidden gem it is!Love from Mr and Mrs Robinson x
Emma Hinkson: Chalkney Water Meadows was the perfect venue for our festival wedding! From the lakeside ceremony to the teepee party, everything was as we wanted. We had the freedom to decorate and to make the venue our own for the wedding. Nat and Becky made all the arrangements as easy as possible and we have to give a special round of applause to the bar staff who helped make it a truly incredible weekend! 10/10 would do it again 😍
Dawn Titterall: Absolutely stunning. Loved the cabin and location.Sat in the hot tub as soon as I woke up, watched the deers in the woods, the swans and ducks on the lake. The accommodation is perfect, modern and so natural and at one with nature.Couldn't fault it, we would definitely visit again.Thank you
Akilah Davies: Had such an amazing weekend at Chalkney Water Meadows. Attended for a wedding. Fantastic venue, everything you needed on site. Beautiful location. The beds were incredible!
Judith Webster: We had a brilliant weekend at Teybrook Orchard with a group of friends. We camp together every year and this was by far the best site we have stayed at. The facilities were excellent and all the accommodation was clean and comfortable The site offered shady spots and plenty of room for football, cricket and rounders.
Victoria Winstanley: Had my hen do here and it was amazing! Great facilities, yurts have everything you need. Kitchen is well equipped. Hot tub in a beautiful setting in the wood. Ewan was on hand to help with the hot tub and pizza oven - nothing was too much trouble. A brilliant location for a big group event and very well run!The walk suggestion up to The Swan pub was perfect. 5 stars!!
Nadine Morriss: Absolutely incredible! Such a special place. From the moment we sent our initial enquiry Becky and the team were so helpful and welcoming and helped us book any activities and excursions. We arrived and was greeted by Euan who helped get us set up and settled and showed us around. - (he even put our food shop away as we had been stuck in traffic when it arrived) The venue itself is stunning and so magical. Loads of different style accommodation to suit everyones tastes and needs. The kitchen was fully equipped and in really great condition with plenty of crockery, storage and fridges. Same for the toilet blocks which was far superior than our expectation. 10 of us had hot showers every day and plenty of water etc. The marquee was perfect to dine in for when it got cooler and we enjoyed the firepit and log burning hot tub on both nights. Becky sent us details for a lovely field walk to a local pub which was greatly appreciated and above and beyond what we thought we would be getting. Felt like we had VIP concierge throughout our stay. Thank you so much to the entire team for making our hen weekend so perfect. Already trying to book in again and wish you all the best for a busy season ahead x

Saint Bat: I absolutely love the atmosphere at Wivenhoe House. The setting in the grounds of the University of Essex overlooking one of the lakes is so beautiful at all times of the day but especially at sunset. This is very local to me & I have come here for years so have seen it change dramatically and improve aesthetically & structurally over the years as my father worked on the refurbishment. The old mansion has been extended with a very modern wing to house the restaurant.I WANT to give an honest review but I really WANT to give it a good review also. But i feel let down whenever I come for a meal which is often. The afternoon tea is always fantastic. As a vegetarian there is always something unusual & new to eat & their own veggie sausage rolls are delicious. There are some amazing cocktails on offer too.But when I come for a formal dinner I am always a bit disappointed. There is only ever one vegetarian option ,(other than pizza), & it often consists largely of something like mushroom or aubergine which are two of the only things I cannot eat. Fair enough, they don't know what I can't eat.But just ONE option ? When we ask for an alternative it invariably takes around 30mins of discussion & waiting around for a decision or suggestion to be made.It seems like a lot of hassle , almost embarrassment from me as it gets passed from one waitress to a waiter, to the manager & sometimes then the chef.Last time I was the one who had to suggest what could be made as nothing was actually offered. It would be great if you could include more than one option or at least have other suggestions ready without all the bother in such a high class restaurant. I want to love the food here & eat something with some imagination that I've never had before.
