Leanne Neville: Could not rate Ann and her team enough, such a great experience, beyond professional with so much information and great tips for cooking.I have been to a sushi making class previously and my most recent was the Indian cooking class. I will definitely be back and would encourage anyone to try one of the classes.Great tips for easy wins with cooking which you can use every day.Very hands on and you get to eat what you make during the class.You also have the chance to order a drink to have whilst cooking, making the experience even better.So in summary an amazing experience and absolutely no room for improvement, me and my Dad would not have had a better day.
Megan Webb: We used a voucher to celebrate Valentine’s Day at Ann’s. It was the Smoke & Spice class. Not only did we learn loads but we came away very full of very yummy food! We’ve already booked our next class. Welcoming atmosphere and very enjoyable evening!
Mike Bromfield: Took part in the 5-hour masterclass (menu at end of review).What a brilliant experience. Ann was incredibly hospitable, and the location is beautiful. The kitchen is well-equipped, clean and organised. After an introduction to what we would be doing and some background information, we were all put to work. It certainly felt like everyone got to have practical hands-on experience of trying lots of different skills, observing demonstrations from Ann, and being empowered to talk the rest of the class through what you might be prepping.Over the course of the class, a litany of helpful tips and tricks were given, from prep methods to storage, to souring and substituting ingredients, minimising food waste, getting the most out of your ingredients, kitchen equipment and food hygiene. I actually wish I brought a notebook with me!!Onto the food - the quality was phenomenal (even if I did overseason a component at one point with garlic oil!!) and there was no shortage either, everyone was able to fill their boots. Nicky S: Absolutely fantastic! We have just had a fun, educational and very tasty afternoon on the cheese making course. This was the 5th course we have been on at Ann’s. We always have a great time, learn a lot (even though we are experienced home cooks) and have plenty of delicious food. Ann and her team are always, friendly, professional and entertaining. Tracy Wilson: Anne’s not so smart & rubbish school of cookery. Don’t go here unless you enjoy wasting money paying unqualified & uneducated staff who pretend to know how to cook, talk to customers as though they are in play school, zero warmth, it was appalling. We did the sushi class, the picture & description on virgin experience has absolutely no correlation to what happened on the day. Fortunately Virgin Experiences dealt with our complaint professionally and refunded our money in full, they confirmed they had received a number of similar complaints about Anne’s not so Smart school - I would upload photos but we were told we couldn’t take photos of the food because of GDPR, I didn’t know Nori Rolls were protected by the data protection act 🤦🏼♀️
David Morgan: We attended the Italian and Pasta Masterclass and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Andy conducted the session, and we learned so many useful tips from him that will change the way we cook in future, and the food was delicious! Andy is clearly a very experienced chef and was very engaging.
Chelsey King: We have now attended 4 cooking classes in Essex, 3 of which with Ann herself and they have all been amazing (and we're currently booking another one). We have learnt how to make delicious food at these classes, as well as picking up lots of other hints and tips to improve our wider cooking skills. The recipes shared have been easy to follow and recreate at home.

Jeminie Patel Mistry: Booked a private session for 14 people, the person running the class was fantastic - very knowledgeable, friendly and lovely however we were all SO disappointed with the portions of food - we basically got 2 strings of pasta, the equivalent of 1 ravioli and a small ramekin of pudding! For the price we paid we definitely didnt feel we got value for our money as everyone left feeling starving. Although the food we had was so delicious!! Would recommend if everyone had bigger portions of food!!

Think I was too generous with dishing out the broth that my daughter and myself made as we only got a little bit ☹️ but we are going to be making it again tonight 😉 would love to do this again it was such a great experience. Gemma Green: Very disappointed in the Vietnamese cooking class. Everyone got about 2 mins each of participation and the class ended 30 mins early. The salt and pepper squid was bland, pork balls were dry and there was hardly anything to taste at the end. If there had been half the people then we could have all got a lot more out of it.
Joseph McAlonan: My first cooking experience with a top professional Chef to-day was inspirational. I shared Chef knowledge, hints, and the sheer joy of sharing in the theory, ingredients to use along with alternative choices according to one’s taste along with healthy reasons for their use. I have avoided chilly’s and no hot spices until now. Chef explained each step of the whole process from start to finish. We prepared, cooked and eat each of the three curries we were cooking, eg: Vegetarian, Chicken and Lamb all with great flavour and well cooked rice.I liked all three and my taste buds have been awakened to the joy of eating spicy food.My grateful thanks are to Ann the Chef and Ann my wife who treated me to a never to be forgotten experience. I recommend these classes to anyone wishing to enhance their cooking skills.
Chloe Angell-Lines: I came with my friend to the cheese and champagne experience at Ann’s Chelmsford venue. I got her this as a 30th birthday present and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a fantastic hour learning lots of about different cheeses, how to make a quick an easy bread and of course trying some delicious cheese.Ann is so knowledgable (and has amazing cooking hacks that will stay with me forever, for example her amazing quick way to make garlic bread !!) Her calm, friendly manner makes the class even more enjoyable. We will definitely be back in the near future. :)
S: Had a fab evening making sausages and other yummy food such as fresh piccallilli and scrummy mash. Plenty of food to eat too.Andy our chef was a great teacher/host/professional guy. Made everyone feel welcome and included in the whole process.Recommend this experience without hesitation.A great evening out.
Pete Morley-Watts: My Husband and I have been here 5 times now and have loved every single class. I honestly want to follow Ann around for a couple of months just to get every single cooking 'life hack' she has in her brain! The classes have all been fun, informative and most of all have transformed the way we cook, shop and eat. Ann's simple way of cooking turns out some amazing meals, and we have been getting more and more confident with applying the principles she has taught us at home. Lots of our friends now go the cookery school too and we have bought ourselves more classes for the new year.... Thanks Ann - you are a star!!
