Colchester Country Park: what do users think?
Robert Lloyd: Great site to stay on, June and her team deliver a great friendly service. The facilities are always clean even during peak times. The disabled wet room is bright, clean and a large area with a good layout. Over the Easter there were events disco and Easter hunt arranged for all of the people on site. Fully deserved its 5 star status.
mike howells: Great campsite really helpful staffService: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Lisa Adams: Very friendly welcome, clean facilities, nicely laid out with level pitches. A12 a bit noisy at times. Stayed March 2023, would stay again.Service: 5/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Scott Ellis: Park well sign posted easy to find. Reception very helpful and security very good. We'll laid out pitches, BUT very noisy from A12 which is next to site might be better in summer when hedges and trees in leaf to subdue the road noise. Shower blocks and toilets clean if a little dated. Overall site well maintained but road noise may put some off.
148 Julie: ‘Country Park’ it most definitely is NOT!!!Something very odd must be happening to get this site such good reviews. It is like parking next to the M25, traffic noise 24/7 that is impossible to ignore. The facilities are clean, although old and basic. There is clearly an expansion of units for people to live in, and many - rather tatty - seasonal caravans and large motorhomes all over the park. I can’t understand what would bring people back here, there is much better sites out there, and at a more reasonable price to. I would advise to avoid this site if you can. Sorry, definitely not one for us!
Scott: Great place for a stop over, think it's a bit dear per night out of season for what's there. But very quiet and friendly peopleService: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More

Ardleigh Caravan & Camping Park: what do users think?
Karen Hewett: Our favourite site when visiting Essex and Suffolk. Owners are really friendly and helpful. Plenty of room, quiet and well kept. We have been using it for many years and will continue to do so. Unfortunately, they close in November so no more winter visits there for us. There are no facilities which suits us as we don’t need them. We recommend highly.
Tony Draycott: Third visit, tidy, peaceful & friendly site.Dog-friendliness: No charge for dogs, unusual but welcome.
Sarah Munson: Peace and tranquillity, friendly staff... Our little piece of heaven 10 minutes from Colchester!Playground: No specific play equipment but a large open field ideal for running kite flying.Restrooms: The site has drinking water toilet waste disposal so you have to rely on your own facilities but it is such a peaceful place.Dog-friendliness: Dogs are allowed at no extra charge...the open space is ideal for children and dogs alike.Picnic area: As with the playground (or lack thereof) you have an open space, we'll kept grass shade from the trees and hedges that surround the site make it a wonderful place for picnics and barbecues.
Preis-Leistung top!Vielen Dank, Peter! Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.
Glen Dawson: Brilliant quite site, Lovely owner very helpful. Pub just down the road. Lovely walk into Dedham just opposite site. This place is an absolute gem.
John Scrivener: Nice place
Patricia Smithson: We use this for storage purposes. Caravan/motorhome park also available by pre booking. Very pleasant in a quiet spot away from main road and site is a nice size, not too busy.
Michael Ayden: Lovely quiet site. Handy location for exploring Constable Country and very helpful owners.
Jill Miller: We have stored a caravan at this location for several years. Customer service is not one of the owners skills. They have been abrupt, rude and aggressive at times. Could not recommend them for this reason
Ralph Thackray: Very good pitches with generous space. The addition of a toilet/shower block would make it a superb site.
Pat King: Lovely here..very peaceful..lots of spaces available
sian west: Very rude site/storage owner. However the location is great for easy access to and from A12
Steve Dawson: Always a great stay.
Chris Braid: I emailed the owner and politely asked if I can book for a whole month in January 2021, you'd think that a 4 week booking would at least get a decent response...I was emailed back by the owner with simply the words " Sorry can't help"...and that was it....Don't bother with this place as the owners clearly aren't bothered with bookings...Find somewhere else please
Martin Holmes: What a lovely little site. Also has caravan storage.
Libby Weblin: Very handy for Colchester, Constable country and the seaside. Open all year.
David Ulyett: This is a CS so members only plus a large storage area. Nice and flat and plenty of room even for large units. Mostly grass pitches all with electric if needed but there are a few hard standings. Basic facilities but to us not an issue so electric, water and cdp only but a lovely place at a reasonable price.
Daniel sare: Lovely quiet caravan site large pitches amd flat
Tony Dixon: Excellent caravan storage facility as well as camping park
Paul Blundell: Lovely place and people
Keith Weblin: Good site, friendly owner, dog friendly, need own toilet etc, would recommend

Fen Farm Caravan Park: what do users think?
Paul Devall (InvictaMoto): Superb campsite with short walk to the beach. This is a quiet site. Facilities plentiful and very clean. There is a shop at the next door site for essentials but it is a little pricey.Site is also dog friendly and there is a dog walk and a field to let them have a run.Would we stay again? Yes.Restrooms: Superb.Dog-friendliness: Has a dog walk and field to let them run about.

Jasmine m.c: Lovely site, friendly , clean. Has its own beach & it’s own giant dog field, & dog shower. Peaceful site me and my dog loved it. Hope to return again!
B Mem: We had a nice lodge with a hot tubThe rooms were clean & warm fitted with all that you require for a short breakThe pool is closed over winter months there is but easy access to the beach & the local country parkRooms: Clean well equippedPlayground: Small play area on sit or walk to the one in the country park next door which also has a small café
Leigh Stephenson: Great place. Went with the Hymer Owners Group (HOG's) right next to the beach and the weather was spot on for us. Toilets and facilities were spotless. Would recommend.
Phil Taylor: Wonderful spacious and quiet site. Toilets and showers great. Walk east along the shore to the country park. Seafood by Dawn is worth the fifteen minute walk.
JAMES GREASLEY: Nice and quiet near the sea
Jojo: From the minute we arrived I liked the look of Fen Farm. Very nice welcome and shown to our pitch. Very friendly staff through out our staff. Shower block was very clean warm !! Even had radio 2 playing bonus 👍. The walk to the beach was lovely with lights going down the path way. Lovely flower beds and mowed lawn. The dogs loved the beach. A very short walk lead us to mersea church which we went in and walk around. The off to seafood by Dawn. This was lovely seafood. Being very new to seafood I tried the King prawns with garlic 😋 very nice my boyfriend had the perfect platter of seafood.
PVW: Superb site, awesome wardens and probably the best Dog walk ever. Great walks, pubs nearby and loads to see and do.Well worth the stay.
Helen Dunning: Friendly & warm welcome from Warden on siteGood amenities especially the warm clean toilet/shower blockDog-friendliness: Good grounds for walking the dog ... but have a good torch for after dark outings
Gordon Fancey: Seasonal pitch holder on the cleanest best run site I have stayed on. Highly recommended.Playground: Safe and secureRestrooms: Award winningDog-friendliness: Large off lead dog walking fields
Alan Hill: A very clean and well run site, close to the beach and a great local pub very close by, the shower block is kept very clean and you can even wash and dry your clothes. Definitely worth a visit.
Dawn O: Nice location near estuary beach. Helpful on site warden shows you to your pitch, pitches large.Level site, well maintained toilets and showers- could do with wash basin in a cubicle for those who may wish to wash in private instead of shower. Showers push button type, only give water for very short period so needed to lean on button to rinse.Booked for 3 nights but only stayed 2 due to level of noise from various inconsiderate people: first night 2 caravans partying loudly until after 12.30, second day and into the night loud music with heavy base from 2 different units. Site rules state no noise after 11pm but this is obviously ignored by some. Also lots of yapping dogs. Have seen other reviews mentioning noise being an issue. If everyone is considerate, this shouldn't be a problem!Warning- be prepared for lots of mosquitoes if visiting late summer.
Sue Ryall: So relaxing, lovely beach walks.
Steve Carey (Stevio): Friendly quiet place to bring the family, lovely place been coming for many years perfect place for young families, does get noisy at peak season which is acceptable for a family based site, staff are relatively friendly and very helpful, only complaint is the owner seemed to be having a bad day and shouted at my wife who was struggling with recycling rubbish in her mobility scooter and preceded to scream at her that it was closed and not to jump over the fence 🤣🤷‍♂️

West Mersea Holiday Park: what do users think?
Lee Gardiner: Perfectly situated right by the beach, it was our first attempt at caravanning and it was an absolute joy easy set up with water and electricity and the night time entertainment was brilliant, we're definitely going again soon
Susannah Denhart: We used facilities whilst visiting the beach hut we bookedWas awful! No atmosphere, no coffee availableThe arcade was diabolical- no prizes, stale sweets, empty machines and turned off machinesUmbrellas all closed even when rainingWould of gone back as location is great but there is nothing to do hereAreas were clean
Richard Mcnaughton: Great place to have a holiday
Claire richards: Ideal if want to be next to the beach.Site was clean, only had a pub with very small arcade inside & little climb park suitable for 5+ not really suitable for under 5 as nothing for them to do here.I would say that the toilet and bins could of been closer to caravan pitches instead having to walk 5 mins.
Harry Castle: Very nice would highly recommend it! Kids arcade spent nearly a million pounds in there!🤣Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Dave Warner: Poor.Touring facilities poor.Tight cramped pitches. Toilets and showers located in static area a long way away from tourers so being disabled I was unable to get to them .No dog bins ( apparently because they look unsightly)When I raised the issues I was told thankyou and glad I won't be visiting again
Martin Field: 3rd time here and what a fantastic place perfect for the beach dog walks etc and that’s where it ends beautiful club house unfortunately the staff or lack of staff are not up to the jobI visited in may out of season they had ran out of normal coke so I ordered a coffee to be told the coffee machine is broken and this is a pub……not funnyI visited for 3 nites whilst the regatta was on yet again no normal coke and the same coffee machine has a permanent sign on it now coffee machine brokenThere can also be a 1 1/2 hour wait for food or they close the kitchen early as they can’t copeReally disappointed as it’s one of my favourite destinations
danyell bennett: AVOID..Awful.. bar & restaurant filthy all the time.. pools too small for the amount of guests.. total waste of money. Time and energy. Caravan not bad but surrounded by fag butt's and litter..dirty stained toilets.Rooms: 2/5|Service: 2/5|Location: 1/5 …More
Pamela Ambrose: We went there a few months back going back in July. Got your own private area and access to the beach. And dog friendly site too
GameChangerz: Shocking! Your custom isn't worth them staying open. No breakfast available as not enough people to warrant staying open. Bar closed and kicked out at 8:30pm (told we had only 15mins to finish our drinks) as not enough people to stay open. If you're looking for a holiday with facilities I'd book elsewhere. If you want a field next to the beach and dont mind the adhoc closures then fine. Cafe for breakfast only open for 1 hour between 11am -12pm but they closed for 2 days in the week.We go home but some of my family are booked in for another 4 nights facing same issues and are considering leaving.
Katrina Emerton: Don’t bother! No breakfast available. Closed for 2 out of the 6 mornings we are here. Breakfast options available for only 1hr at the cafe on the few days it is open. Evening bar - you get kicked out at 8:30pm because there are not enough people to warrant staying open. Showers are so hot you can’t clean your kids. We were hoping to buy a static here and used our tourers to scout the site and so glad we did. Would never holiday here again never mind purchase a static. My advice - avoid!
Paul Woodward (Woody): Our second visit to the park and each time has been great , the club house is very good , little expensive.I guess the only downside is the showers … they are a little walk away plus the water can’t be controlled, push button type which I personally can’t stand , water shoots over the edge of the tray so you have a choice of getting your shoes wet or strip off and get pelted with cold water till it gets hot ….trip hazard as well .Be nice to see a new building soon bit closer to the mobile caravan pitches with modern showers .
M J: Nice location
Rob Theobald: Great food at The Sandbanks restaurant and bar. You don’t need to stay on the campsite to visit, and the staff are really friendly too.Loved their Sunday Roast.
Marion Buffett: Great outside seating, a good refurb inside.
dereck Swallow: Excellent ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Clive Knight: Nice and clean , plenty of parking.
Stephen Barron: Nice relaxing place enjoying 😉
michael preston: Lovely place to stay, right on the beach.

Ric: Few nights here, came for a rest bite & fishing.Very noisy with kids, vehicles, pitch like paddi field. Fishing was poop, turned away by warden after purchasing fishing pass/ ticket because never had a carp mat. I never fish for carp, so don't have any carp equipment but wasn't made aware of this at the time. Not dog friendly, not allowed anywhere apart from outside.NOT bothering to return, waste of money.Dog-friendliness: Not dog friendly

Richard Lucas: This was our second visit, the first was a camping trip in a tent, the site and facilities were in a lovely location overlooking a nice lake and close to beach, washing and toilet facilties very clean and would recommend, sadly one night there was a loud group of campers partying and shouting which was not great. Our second trip was a 2 night half term break in a platinum caravan, which was superb. The restaurant on site is very good value and their breakfasts are fantastic. Would recommend.
Brian Pugh: We went for the day to meet our Daughter and family. The newly decorated Granary restaurant was lovely and quite busy. The menu was varied and reasonably priced and the portions very generous. Everywhere was clean and tidy and although early in the season, ready for action. The location, right by the beach, is lovely. A very pleasant day.

Boxted CL Caravan & Motorhome Site: what do users think?
Chris Hey: An immaculately kept site with two newly renovated shower rooms. Plenty of space in a lawned level area.
Steven Haynes: Lovely quiet little site. Owner’s gorgeous dog came over with a stick so we could play fetch with him (the dog, not the owner). Quaint setting with two clean showers and electric hookup. Would return.
Kat: Exactly what a CL should be. Quiet. Peaceful. Owners very pleasant and not in your space. Didnt use comfort facilities so can't comment but looked fine. Local information to hand. Super dog. British Legion Club (very friendly) within 20 minutes walk and gastropub slightly further. Footpaths galore! Hope to return
julian lambe: Noisy due to every possible piece of garden machinery you could imagine being used on and around the site, if we had been informed this was taking place we would never have made our booking, the next day was slightly quieter.Didn't use the showe or toilet facilities on site but during our 3 night stay we never saw anybody come to do the cleaning.Owners didn't introduce themselves, we will certainly not return to or recommend this site.
Nell Edwards: Very peaceful
Anne Allan: Very quiet site only five pitches nothing around within walking distance we walked to village found little cafe on play field site very nice . Showers were clean however kept flooding reported to owner but nothing was done . Cannot comment on the owners as they never came to introduce themselves probably wouldn't stay again.
malcolm clarke: Lovely quiet site, helpful owner, 1 motorhome had trouble due to soft ground after some rain, owner pulled him out, lovely horses in next field, would go again.

The Gatehouse Peldon: what do users think?
Matthew Kendall: Lovely views across reservoir. The site is small but plenty of space to spread out. Lots of character with the old glamping vans and tents. The owner is lovely very friendly and helpfulGreat little place to stay.
Fieke Derksen: Mooie simpele camping met goede basisvoorzieningen. Prachtig uitzicht met ondergaande zon op Mersey Island. Vikki is erg gastvrij en denkt goed mee! Top ervaring.
Julie Stores: What a great campsite, Vicki was most welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. We will definitely revisit in the future.
Claire Mills: We stayed here for 4 days, the view is outstanding and we had a fantastic time, will definitely go back xx
Katie Ellrich: Just absolutely beautiful ❤
steven tizzard: Vikki at the gatehouse Peldon cannot be praised highly enough for her kindnesses and consideration. The site itself is absolutely beautiful and probably one of the best sites we have ever come across. I would highly recommend it to anyone considering a stay.
Matt&Beth Freeman: Beautiful campsite, thoroughly enjoying our weekend here - it's so peaceful and quiet.
Mark Sussex: Good little site great view over the reservoir
Andrew Hood: Lovley family run site, with some interesting items onside, like a bus
Sian Moloney: Attended a wedding at the weekend it's a beautiful place
Kirsty Mayes: We had a lovely weekend, the glamping pod had everything we needed and more! Vicki was the best host, nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back.
Marie Cook: A beautiful setting, beautiful owner who couldn't do enough to please and help. Such a great find. Keep up the great work Vicki
Jodie Murphy: We've just stayed here for two nights in the fantastic Bellinda Bell tent. Family of 4, we loved it and will definitely return again,
carol donaldson: Enjoyed a wonderful peaceful stay in Betty. Only the sounds of tawny owls and nightingales at night. The ultimate place to relax for a few days. Wonderfully welcoming hosts but also enjoyed the total privacy from other campers. Very welcome bottle of Prosecco on arrival.
Sarah Wood: Spent one night in the bell tent last year, there were 5 of us and it was absolutely amazing there really wasn’t anything else needed except our food and clothes.. every little detail had been thought of. Beautiful place and really very lovely people that pay so much attention to detail, hot chocolate for the kids, marshmallows for the fire pit and the all important charging socket for the teenagers located in the most amazing beech hut themed toilet, there really wasn’t anything we needed to ask for... amazeballs and thank you so much we will be back and many times xx
Daniel Creedon: I've stayed here a few times and I have to say, it is one of the nicest, most picturesque camp sites I've ever been on. A great place for the kids and for just relaxing with some of the best sunsets ever and a drink by an open fire.

Rushbanks Campsite: what do users think?
Kevin Grahame: Wonderful weekend with 13 friends camping in the large field. Fire pits are great and nice walks to the church and local pubs. Staff friendly and efficient at enforcing 11pm fire and music curfew. Toilets and showers clean. We'll return soon.
Stuart Bird: Such a great place nice and clean friendly atmosphere and super staff
lucy Walker: Lovely campsite with direct river access. Great for paddle boarding /kayaking. You can hire an outdoor fire and buy wood. Decent toilets. Showers are OK but could be a bit more powerful. Lovely spot and good pubs not too far away
Sabrina Sandhu: A beautifully well run campsite for families or large groups.Toilets were clean. We hired a canoe for the day and went to the pub for a drink, it took 1.5hr one way. The canoes are very heavy and they need to be carried around 2 wiers. Despite this, we had an excellent day. There is an ice cream van that arrives around 6.30 - kids loved it.There’s a small play area.Thank you for your hard work at keeping your site fun. We had a brilliant time.
K S: Great campsite, perfect for families and groups especially if you like to paddle board as very close to the river. The toilets and showers are clean and the water is nice and hot. It can sometimes get a little noise if lots of families, especially if you pitch along the river bank but strict curfew at 11pm (campfires out and no music allowed) this makes sure everyone has a good night's sleep, would definitely come back
Lexie Newlands: Brilliant campsite with hot showers & lovely staff
Paul Dulieu: This was our second visit to Rushbanks and it didn't disappoint. It is a beautiful setting, the staff are wonderful and it has everything you need for a relaxed camping trip away from the hussle-bussel of everyday life. Whilst this is "off grid" camping (no electric hook ups, no wifi), it has all that you need, with plenty of toilets which are kept really clean, a washing up station with hot water, and compact but hot, clean and free showers. The canoe hire for a trip to the Anchor pub was truly idyllic and splashing about and swimming in the river is an experience every child and adult should have. The fact that we could have a campfire was really special and the "fires out and noise down by 11pm rule" was enforced with efficiency and friendliness. This is probably our favourite campsite, and we are seasoned campers. The fact that it is only an hour from home means we should, and will, use it more often. Thank you James and team for a splendid weekend. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Si Overs: Fantastic campsite right on the river Stour in a beautiful part of the country. Very well run by the owners.
Heidi Crosby: Very nice
Andrea Brady: Loved it here! Clean, well organised, with beautiful pitches along the river bank. Paddle boards and canoes for rent for a magical paddle along the river to local pubs with excellent food and drink - or just go for a swim from the docks. Coffee van with fresh pastries, swing set, and wonderful views.
Gary Brown: A stunning well equipped campsite , me and my 2 kids thoroughly enjoyed our stay , loved wild swimming and paddle boarding in the beautiful river , staff and other campers was very friendly, can't wait to book again, highly recommended 🙏😁
Gavin MacKenzie: Not quite the 'freedom and escape' the website promises because it's just so busy and noisy with families and Bluetooth speakers, much more festival-style free-for-all. There's no guidance on where to camp so we ended up with 2 large groups backing onto us and pretty much blocking us in. Otherwise, river is lovely for swimming and boating and the facilities are clean and simple. Just don't expect tranquility!
Kikod 2005: There is a 11 o'clock bedtime where they come around and make sure that the fire is out. If it is not out they watch you put it out. It is a joke that there is a bedtime at 11 o'clock when you are camping. This is a joke and something you should know if you are planning on staying.
Gabriela Filipova: I spent there 1 night with my kids. Great place!
Kristina Mikolaityte: Enjoyed camping a lot! Will come back again! Clean and tidy premises, hot shower, well look after campus site😍We got spot next to the river,it was lovely🤩
Ben Morhall: Decent off-grid campsite (no electric and limited mobile signal) with the added value of easy river reach and great coffee van visits from Queen Bee.Facilities are adequate and usually clean. The kids playground is just a set of swings but this isn't why we come here. It's the river and freedom to wander the surroundings that appeals. If you get good weather it's 5+ stars.

Nicholas Mckenzie - wood: Lovely little site near the coast plug in toilets showers very friendly
Louise Hall: Great little camp site plug in showers toilets very friendly near the coast lovely. All amenities near by
Ronel Steadman: Only negative is that tents have to be pitched on gravel. Had I of known, i would have booked a different site as this ruined our ground sheet in our tent.
winston amos: Very nice to go nice an relaxing
Philip Whitehead: The site is perfectly situated 2 minutes to promenade 5 minutes to pubs and shops the site is ok no problems the reason for 3 stars is because of inconsiderate people with dogs letting them bark and yap at 7 to 7.30 every morning this is not in the sites control but it did impact my holiday
Leona Reader: Location really good. Very helpfull on site. But one main let it down that toilets not cleaned enouth and men's even worse showers very temperamental they going from hot to cold. And while staying their we told we could shower or use toilets because sewage over flow in their. Was very over price for what ypu get and npt showing or being able to use toilet it no good enouth
Ros Stone: Grass not cut.Cigarette butts everywhere.Toilets closed as blocked. No hot water to wash up 😢
Flyins diagnostics: Debbie a lovely woman, very welcoming! Credit to the site for sure! Just needs a little improvements! But Rome wasn't built in a day! Site is located in an excellent place! Stones throw from a blue flag beach! Debbie runs this really good! Don't listen to negative reviews!! It's camping with all you need
Tenna David: This is our recent experience of Lakeside. The site is a bit shabby, very basic and expensive at £40 (cash only, no receipt) a night on the weekend. However the showers and toilets were clean, washing machine and dryer was free, electric hook ups included in the price. The grass and gravel pitches are very tight together. The positives are, it's in a fantastic position, next to what was a boating lake, now a bird sanctuary, it's a 3 minute walk to a wonderfully restored swimming lido and perfect for families. It's 5 minutes from the sea, a foot ferry, small village with pubs, butcher's and bakers. The position of Lakeside caravan park sells it, it's a shame that it's not had the investment it deserves.
Mark Mccallum: Loads of pitches grass and hard standing very nice area of brightlingsea only problem is the site is very open public
Beverley Ashley-walker: Fabulous find...if you wish for by stones throw , the sea, a lido, cute cafe, trendy bar, fish and chips, great views of beach huts and boating lake. This is Def place to be. Extremely friendly and helpful and lovely manager Debbie and owner Miles. They have and are in the motions of doing up. Loos are very clean and new and now plots are hardstanding but don't let then put you off ... It's still in the motions of having the extra touches but they will get there... But this is my new retreat so I don't want roo many people to go hee hee !! A little gem... Location hard to beat ... I know hardstanding looks like a car park and not to everyone's choice but has more to love than don't. The bad reviews are from past owner and pictures from when it was a field .
Carolyn Gray: Nicely laid out, hard-standing of stone, so good drainage. Lovely lady that runs it, very helpful. Facilities are very good. Had a fabulous time. Views and site in a pretty, scenic setting. Handy for the beach, lido and town.
Anthony Hickey: Great location
Phil Weight: Booking was made very easy by the extremely helpful manager Debbie. On arrival Debbie was available and gave us the choice to park anywhere that was free, which was great. It's a really well situated park, close to the seafront and walkable very quickly to eateries, pubs etc, just a few minutes to the town centre as well. Nice level gravel pitches with water and electric hook up on every pitch - excellent. Facilities are basic but cleaned regularly - it's obvious the site is being developed and there's still more to do (the only reason for a star off), but no complaints from me about the current offering. It's in a very nice spot by the lake, and was quiet, with other campers being respectful. More than happy with our stay.
Colin Wiles: Great place to visit as a day trip
