lynda talbot: Where do I start!!! Fantastic service very affordable I can’t thank Cycle King enough. My sons bikes front bearings had gone on his mountain bike, a quick call to CK and my problem was sorted. They had a look for free and found a wheel I could afford.I had good telephone contact to let me know what was happening. When I went to pick the wheel up they had taken all the reflective strips off the spokes and put them on the new wheel Above and beyond what was expected.Thanks goes to Mike for his all his help. Devrim Hozman: Don't trust this place. I took my bicycle in to have the bottom bracket replaced just before our trip to center parcs, during our stay the bottom bracket failed on the first day so I ended up getting a rental bike. I was suspicious as bottom brackets don't fail that easy or quickly. Soon as I got back home I decided to strip the bottom bracket myself as I am a qualified mechanic but didn't have the tools at the time. Shockingly I discovered that the bearings had been assembled without grease. After many attempts to email them and their main office, my messages were ignored. Very unprofessional and incompetent.

J Jones: Bad bad experience with these guys. I would go into loads of detail but ive wasted enough time with them. Who ever buys a bike from here. Do you own research. If you know what bike you want then dont let them talk you out of it. As they tried selling me different bikes of lower spec then the one i wanted. If you know your size make sure with your own eyes that size is ordered. As they ordered wrong size for me and then tried telling me i was that size. which cost me wasted journeys and time. Lots of hassle. Ive since purchased the right bike in the correct size from a great shop. Also at the same time decided to get my wife a ebike. Got a few friends going there for purchases also. All our services are going to be done by that shop also. Blessing in disguise really. I sent a friend to cycle revolution who called and said he is on his way. They said if your not here by 5:30 we are locking the doors. Customer service seems to be lacking with these guys. Anywaud bad experience from me but ive since found a amazing place. Regars j.jones

ethan thrower: I went in to have my bike serviced, the man was very friendly and walked me through some of the changes he would probably need to do and quoted me £40 in total for the service. I said that's great, and how I was new to riding and would appreciate any tips etc.I came back a few days later to find out they had done "£100 worth of repairs to the bike". Only to then be told after doing these repairs that the parts of the bike were not compatible with one another and this would cost another £70 to fix. The guy told me he wouldn't be happy to ride the bike in it's current state.I asked why they'd done £100 of repairs to the bike I had not agreed to without contacting me at any point.DO NOT GET YOUR BIKE SERVICED HERE...
Skylar Stanley: Overall friendly staff and were able to fit me in without a booking, however I came in to have a new tire fitted. I came back to pick up the bike and they had serviced the bike without my permission and charged me for it. Two days later I took my bike to Halfords to get my seat lowered, who also looked over the bike. They told me and showed me that the work that had been done on the bike was not very good and the breaks that they claimed to have fixed were still not working as they should. To be honest, I won’t be coming back in the future. Maybe they should ask for your phone number and call you up if they find anything before taking it upon themselves to do work that you didn’t ask for.

Martin Tucker: My favourite bicycle shop in Colchester. The two members of staff really know their stuff. They do everything from retail to repair and their excellent knowledge and long experience are manifest in their work. If you find yourself queuing outside, just remember that when you ride out on your bike it will have been worth it!
Rachael Mann: Website states the shop opens at 0900 but sign on the door says 0930. Not too much of an issues as I got their for 0920 so only had to wait 10 mins. Once the shop opened they were very rude as I tried to open the door, which for some reason was locked, and I hadn't noticed the sign that said knock and wait. Needless to say I didn't buy anything and will be reluctant to go back in the future...

Kevin Dent: Took my bike in for repair after the rear derailleur came off. Initial estimate new derailleur hanger to reattach the mech £40. After a week without the bike I got a call, the bike needs a new derailleur, the rear wheel needs rebuilding and you need a new disc brake rotor cost £130. Ok I say just do it. Go to the shop to collect the bike, sorry I miscalculated actually I want £162 for the work. Wow this is getting expensive, but at least I will have a fully functioning bike, OK I pay. Wrong, the rear mech does not work properly. I take the bike back and after spending 3 hours in the shop the problem is a mystery. Question is asked have I damaged the bike, no haven't really been on it. Leave the bike with the shop for two whole weeks. Eventually they find out what was wrong. They fitted an incompatible derailleur, wow. Despite me not having a bike for two weeks due to their mistake, they ask me for another £5 since the compatible derailleur was more money. Total cost £167. Poor service.

Angie Briley: Absolutely furious. More or less accused of stealing the hire car!! We had a hire car while ours was being repaired. When repaired the garage brought our car back and took the hire car away to be returned. Just got a call from the Branch Manager in Thrifty Colchester more or less accusing us of stealing the car. He was extremely rude and was demanding to know the mileage. I stated that we wasn't asked to record this, all we needed to do was put petrolback in that we'd used.
Clara (Mummy peanut): Friendly fast service. I kept in touch the whole time about the vehicle hire as the insurance didn't.Only had one problem. I wasn't listened too, about the size of the vehicle I needed. Meant to be like for like I was told by insurance.However the car was much smaller. When I needed a good size boot for work and the fact I needed to fit a stroller in. Which wouldn't fit. (Stuck at home with a toddler for nearly 3 weeks) Also asked for a manual not automatic.The car was new and did however enjoy the car.

I booked 2 weeks go and went to collect the car assuming I had a reservation. I was dismissed at the counter with 'that's not a booking. It's a request.' In other words, a worthless commitment to provide a service that has left me scrambling to find an alternative.Avoid Thrifty and go to Enterprise. Great service that saved the day.

Get you coming and going with absolutely no warning signs or information for customers. Be aware your rental will be L84 more than you expected. Business plan seeems to be to maximise revenue by charging processing fines.

Zuyuan Zhu: Be careful with their INSURANCE policy!!! We confirmed twice with Thrifty agent that we bought a full insurance that covers everything! The agent sold "Risk Reduce: Glass&Tyre cover" to us, charging 12£/day. Besides, we paid 14£/day for reducing maximum penalty from 1000£ to 250£. So, we paid 26£/day for the insurance. But, when we returned the car at Edinburgh, Thrifty charged us another 203£ for slightly damaging ( some scratches) the two hub of wheels! Anyway, we bought an insurance that covers tyre, but the agent in Edinburgh told us it only covers the tyre, the hub of the wheel is not covered! What's worse, their attitude was extremely rude, kept pushing us to sign the penalty! It's obvious that one of their agents must be a liar! We were fooled by Thrifty! They are the shame of GREAT Britain!

Jay Dee: I have just passed my full bike license today and honestly I don't think I can ever thank James or the staff here for everything they've done for me!As someone who had driven a car for almost 12 years I was very nervous getting on 2 wheels, but I did my CBT with James Nov 2021 and he was very attentive to me during my first time on a geared bike.I started the DAS 3 weeks ago and honestly I came on leaps and bounds due to James' training. I am VERY happy with the training I got from James and the service from the team in general!I cannot, once again, thank them enough! Highly recommend!!!
