Noreen Ferguson-Hughes: Another fabulous stay. The entire team here are warm, kind and efficient - the rooms super clean with the most comfortable beds and lovely bedding. We always sleep soundly here. Many rooms have lovely views out towards the sea over Cardiff - it was magical to wake up to this view.Big shout out to the awesome Evan and Alex! Evan was soooo helpful and kind and was able to help us check in earlier…and offered paracetamol when I had run out and kindly called me to check if I’d like breakfast when I overslept! A superstar!Alex also went above and beyond - helpful, kind and brought me mega strong tea , helped me out when I needed it and even shared her top tips for “over indulgence”Lovely hotel , lovely lovely people x thankyou all , Noreen & CaitlinRooms: Lovely spacious rooms with superb beds and comfy quality bedding and many with awesome viewsFood & drinks: The most scrumptious coffee and Welsh cakes - a great breakfastNoteworthy details: The team are first class, lovely kind, helpful people .

Jayne Parry: Stay for a Christmas party. Rooms are spacious, and all room amenities are available as expected. Views from the hotel are amazing. I have stayed previously, and they have updated the grounds since my last stay. These improvements have really elevated the look of the hotel. Ideal for weddings or a relaxed night away. Would highly recommend.

Danielle Sheahan: Nice food. Great service. 👍Hotel highlights Great view, Quiet …

Laura H: We have a family Christmas dinner here in early December every year and it's always really special.Food & drinks: Great food.

Slaylikebeaukay: I went to spend a few days with real fires, great food beautiful rooms and a quiet getaway with my mum . The house looks very beautiful. The whole place is very clean and service with a smile was at reception the bars and the dining area. A special shout out to the housekeepers who were quick quiet and super .We had a standard room and it came with an outside area and an astounding view over the valley . The bathroom was lovely too. A shower and a bath in the bathroom of room 6 is of a really good standard.Beds were comfortable slightly firm. Plenty of storage and lovely dog inspired art as well as local art and a lovely glossy book about the local areaTakes about 20 minutes to drive into Cardiff .Decent WiFi speed but you would have difficulty depending on it in some areas .Staff were able to have a little personality showing and looked out for each other. This was lovely to see and something above the corporate extra formal uniforms. Super professional reception staff they were always able to help. it was lovely to see the more experienced looking out for the newer staff when needed. My mum loves to ask questions and they tried their best to answer! The food was drop dead gorgeous. I loved the festive menu for dinner. The wines were well paired too. They kept my wine from one night for the next. You would spend more at the Miller carter down the road than here. Go hungry as the portions were great too!Rooms: Standard rooms are beautifully equipped

Simon Brereton: big, spacious..massive bed, lovely bathroom. The staff were all really helpful. We ate at Rafters, they provide a mini bus to take you there and bring you back, the food was excellent. The hotel grounds are very well kept, we will be going back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor area. Your about 20minute drive from Cardiff City center. We had a treatment in the spa and used the pool area

Keith Watson: Lovely place, good facilities and staff are friendly. Used the ICC to see an act in the Auditorium good sound acoustics. 1300 people leaving at the same time was not fun though.Long queue at the bars before it started during the all the people and they run out of Guiness Zero......

Travel Bug: Located within a service stop with easy access to WHSmith & Costa coffee which seemed to be open 24hrs, as well as a Burger King and Greg's.Plenty of parking including seperate disabled parking for stair-free accessWiFi was decent, no issues with slow or interrupted connection

John Clayton: There is no lift to the first floor so have to carry cases up the steps.plus no ramp from the car park just about 12 steps not the place to stay if you have bad kneesRooms: Room very good

Zariyat Imam: For a budget you get a pretty nice deal. The staff were super welcoming, they always were asking if we needed refills on anything, the location is quite good as it's in the same building as a burger king, Costa coffee and a WHSmith on top of being next to a motorway for easy access to anywhere else and the rooms were what you paid for. 2 single beds and 1 double along with a spacious bathroom, kettle, some tea and coffee sachets, a TV and a vanity mirror with sofa chairs and vanity lights is a bargain for £200 for 5.

The Worcestershire Cabinet Maker: , we were put into room 130.

Geoffrey R Harris: It's a busy stite but everything think is here. And don't pay for the car park if you are staying at the Travelodge.Rooms: Very nice. Like the up grade I stay in Travelodge s quite a lot now dogfendly.Nearby activities: There's a lot of fast take away s on here enough to keep a family happyFood & drinks: Yes the garage is a spar very friendly staff. Good price s.

Sports JobFinder: Nice and tidy room.and good locationCouldn’t thank the manager Donna McGuiness enough for her service and hospitality. Arrived late and had a few issues but she was happy to resolve it and go over and beyond 👍

Charlie Bateson: This hotel could not be better located. Roughly a 5 minute walk from Cardiff Central Station, Cardiff Castle. Principality Stadium and the many bars, restaurants and shops of Cardiff City Centre. Rooms were very pleasant with a super comfy bed but not much room to store anything and the shower, although enormous, was not very powerful. Buffet breakfast was excellent with lots of variety and generally the service was very good, let down on our visit by the fact we had to request our room to be made up.All in all a very nice weekend and we would go back and stay at The Parkgate Hotel

Ddraig Glas: for my birthday.Me and my Fiance will definitely be staying again very recommended!

Fred: Very nice hotelThe staff is helpfulThe breakfast is really goodThe location is very good in the city center and near the stadium

Omabe Obasi: I booked the spa to use the sunrise spa package with a friend. It was lovely, clean and relaxing. The views would be really brilliant on a clear day and it is well designed. I felt it was a little bit expensive for a 90 minutes session which is why I haven’t given 5 stars. I thought it might benefit from a midweek discount pricing as it was a quiet Wednesday morning. However, it did feel luxurious and there weren’t too many people all crammed in so maybe the price is justified. A big shout out to the fabulous house keeper Dawn who was keeping the pace spick and span! She was lovely and friendly; the kind of person you hope to bump into for a warm genuine chat!

Janet South: who kindly showed us around the hotel. Check is at 4pm. We were unexpectedly upgraded to a suite. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable.I would ask for a quiet room as there is a pub opposite the front which can be a bit noisy in the evening. There is a restaurant and bar which both serve tasty meals. The restaurant menu is a la carte. The young man in the bar was very exceptionally helpful as my friend has food allergies. We enjoyed using the thermal spa area which is quite small, so has to booked in advance. The facial and massage with elemis products was lovely. The spa staff were very pleasant. The breakfast was self service with a good selection of hot and cold choices.Check out is at 11am.We enjoyed our overnight spa break and would definitely stay again. However be aware that the vicinity might be busy when home rugby games or concerts are on at the stadium nextdoor.

Dennis Alford: Good day out learning about are history and parts CardiffI never new

Lely Tobing: Very comfortable room to stay, good bed, duvet and lighting. I had dinner at Laguna Restaurant, it was brilliant. They give you discount to park your car in NCP, it’s still expensive, maybe there’s other place to park and cheaper, we didn't have time to explore.

Sid: : The staff greeted me like I was their long-lost BFF, even though I couldn't be bothered to ask for a room with a view. Lazy wins again!Gym Time Warp: The gym was like a blast from the past with its vintage equipment, but hey, it did the job. Who needs fancy gadgets when you've got determination, right?Pool Party: The swimming pool was basically a warm, watery hug. I could've stayed there forever if it weren't for those pesky wrinkles.Sauna and Jacuzzi Bliss: The sauna and jacuzzi were like the dynamic duo of relaxation. I'm pretty sure I achieved zen status in there.Food Frenzy: The menu had more options than my brain could handle, but as a veggie lover, I had to venture outside for some leafy goodness. Good thing there were food joints galore nearby!Cookie Craze: Those cookies with tea were like tiny bites of heaven. I swear I must've begged for more with the desperation of a kid who lost their candy.Bathroom Sanctuary: The bathroom was basically my personal spa retreat. Hot water, a bathtub made for soaking, and enough fluffy towels to build a fort – what more could a tired traveler ask for?Breakfast Bonanza: Breakfast was the highlight of my mornings, especially the British breakfast. I was tempted to propose to the chef, but I settled for a heartfelt "thank you" instead. In summary: This hotel gets a big thumbs up from me. It's like a home away from home, but with better cookies and a jacuzzi. Can't ask for much more than that, folks!

Thomas Black: First time staying, couldn’t fault itRooms: Very spacious superior double. Mini fridge, tea and coffee, complimentary chilled water. Very clean room.Food & drinks: Nice buffet breakfast, usual cooked items plus cereals, pastries, yoghurts and juices

Robert M. Corless: I thought I had written my review of this place but apparently I haven't! Better late than never as they say. After careful consideration, we have come to the conclusion that this is the best hotel we've ever stayed at in forty years of traveling. The quality of the room and the bathroom was excellent. The size of the room was exemplary. I had plenty of room to work. The thing that really made it for us though was the quality of the breakfast, which is included. We stayed for two weeks, which is a long time to stay in a hotel. The variety of food that was available for breakfast kept us more than happy for the whole time.As an added bonus, there was a fitness center attached to the hotel that was a real gym. Like getting a free membership for a full fitness club.I'm now remembering that I have written this before. Well, if it's a duplicate review too bad.

Gareth Thomas: Spent a night at the hotel for my partner’s birthday.Great hotel and service. Quick check in, rooms spotless with plenty of amenities.Spa facilities were great and they let us use the spa after we checked out which was a nice touch.Great breakfast with plenty of options for all.Location bang smack in the centre of the city and within walking distance of shops, bars, restaurants etc.

Rebecca Young: Highly recommend the gentleman’s afternoon tea… a delight in every mouthful… part of a party 20-25 ladies..Food & drinks: Afternoon teas are lovely

Zandria Arundel: I stayed in this hotel with my sister on the 22nd of February for one night and we were very happy with everything. Room was lovely and clean, comfortable beds. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The pool and spa were great. Excellent breakfast with so much choice. Could not fault anything, will definitely stay here again.Rooms: Lovely and clean. Comfortable beds. Only downside is that the pillows were a bit too soft.

Karl Champniss: Second visit to the hotel. This occassion the room seemed to be a smaller room than previous. We were on the 4th floor and was very noisy, with doors banging most of the night and early in the morning with staff cleaning rooms early too.Heating in the room was not great and had obviously been brought up before as there was an electric heater left in the room.Cleaning standards not great. Sink was covered in water marks and white stains where it hadn't been scrubbed clean. Dust and cobwebs around the room also. Glasses and cups not very clean and looked more to have been wiped rather than washed clean.Staff helpful on arrival and welcoming.Breakfast was of good quality with plenty on offer, from the usual full English to continental buffet with cereals, fruits etc.Would visit again but perhaps would look out for a discount or offer rather than full price booking.

Jean Jacques FRANCOIS: Have a good stay.Room to refresh perhaps....Good breakfast. At the bar the beer is more expensive than in town....Very good location.

Alasdair Robertson: The receptionist here was so friendly and really went above and beyond to help us out

Andrea Jones: Hotel its self is lovely, staff helpful and friendly. room very nice. But the noise from outside kept us awake most of the night and window was not open. the shower door didn't have a rubber on the end of the glass that makes it stay on the bath when you push it in place so bathroom floor got soaked. No floor mat 1 hand towel 2 small bath towels had to use the hand towel to be safe getting out of shower. Bed and pillows so uncomfortable there was a mattress topper on top of the mattress that was smaller than the bed for price you would expect better quality pillows not flat ones and a bed with no topperNoteworthy details: Handy if your going to see a show in motorpoint area

Graham Robertson: Right opposite Arena , genuinely lovely staff ,great prices . If there's a show in town we are going back there . No faults at all .Nearby activities: Smack in the middle of all Cardiff has to offer .

Emma O'Connor: I'm really not sure why all the negative reviews for this hotel. Staff very welcoming, friendly, and professional. Hotel clean and very comfortable. Breakfast, lovely. We paid triple the price in Bath and hotel not a quarter as nice. We will definitely return. We feel very relaxed. Thank you xx we stayed in room 208 and found it perfect for us.

David Hickman: Wow, what a terrific hotel which is soooo close to the centre of Cardiff.Staff were all friendly, welcoming and happy to answer our questions.Breakfast was outstanding - we went for the full buffet which included fresh omelette and/or pancakes which easily got us through the days we were there. There are so many pubs, cafes and restaurants near by you really are spoilt for choice. If rugby is your thing, Principality Stadium is just next door. Otherwise there is plenty of tourist stuff close by, including Cardiff Castle over the road.

Robbie James: I was looking for a conference room to host my team and client at short notice. Louise was very accommodating and efficient in how the request was handled. I felt all my concerns were considered and was very happy with the booking. Tommy made the confirmation and payment process very straightforward too and was able to make a difficult late request possible too, which was much appreciated.A very smooth service all round and would definitely recommend for ease of booking and for the quality of the conference room. Thanks again Louise and Tommy.Walkability: Parking was offered but very close to public transport and some of the team also walked from various parts of Cardiff.Food & drinks: Team booked a lunch at the hotel, which had a variety of options and was well stocked to replenish us for the afternoon activity.

Dean Ibrahim: I have been staying in this hotel for work for the past few months. The staff here in front house and restaurant are professional and very friendly. Mike Burch: and cricket

Phillip Toombs: Visited with the wife for a Murder,Mystery night. Lovely hotel which does have it faults but you must take into account it is an Historical Building not a newbuild. So if your a person that wants to pick holes and expect perfection then go to the Ritz as this hotel is not for you. All the staff were very helpful and gave excellent customer service. The food was very good and served hot. Certain drinks were quite expensive ie £7.00 for a pint of Guinness and £6.50 for Strongbow mixed fruit but overall the majority of spirits were reasonably price but the mixers were not £2 40 for a Fever Tree.Overall had a great night and would go back. There is a car park at the rear of the hotel which cannot be reserved as it is owned by a private company and is £15 for an overnight stay and you can stay until 2pm the following afternoon. You must remember to log your registration number into the machine located at the reception desk and pay on arrival. There is only 1 disabled space.

Gemma Bowen: Amazing staff just had our wedding here and they were amazing especially Eve and Ashley ! Would definitely recommend anyone who are thinking of booking their wedding here. They go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and special 😊Nearby activities: Close to the castle and central

Paula “Plinky” K: Absolute gem. Lovely staff, great reception, clean spacious rooms. Thank you for looking after the rugby girls and being so accommodatingNearby activities: Centre of Cardiff, so much to see and do.Walkability: Central location right next to Sophia GardensFood & drinks: Lovely menu

iTiarnán: this is why i would like to leave a significant review as i feel it’s important to give the staff here their dues, i didn’t know this at the time but this hotel is actually registered as a place is safety and for locals to the area i think this is super important for people to know. i was left stranded in cardiff within the early hours and had lost my phone, all of my friends had left and i couldn’t find anyone and had no way to communicate with them. i was cold and wet. By chance i walked into the hotel lobby and was greeted by a very caring individual Sarah at reception i seriously can’t thank you enough. i had no means to get home or communicate with any of my friends and family, you made sure i was safe and helped me to find means to get home safely. i truly do not know what would have done that day without your help as i was in a extremely vulnerable situation. you went beyond to help and even after this turns out my lost property had been found and kept safe.overall i think if there was more people like Sarah in the world, it wouldn’t be so bad a place and truly feel that the hotel is lucky to have someone so kind as an employee. now looking back im glad my high school prom used this place as a venue. can not express this enough.thank you ☺️Nearby activities: there is plenty to do in Cardiff and this hotel is in the centre of it all, it has lovely views of the castle and park opposite and is within walking distance of plenty activities, such as bars, escapes and the Millennium Stadium for all you concert and game watchers.Safety: this is why i would like to leave a significant review as i feel it’s important to give the staff here their dues, i didn’t know this at the time but this hotel is actually registered as a place is safety and for locals to the area i think this is super important for people to know. i was left stranded in cardiff within the early hours and had lost my phone, all of my friends had left and i couldn’t find anyone and had no way to communicate with them. i was cold and wet. Richard Newberry: An older hotel but just a short walk from the city centre. Cardiff Castle is just over the road whilst the Principality stadium is close by too. Hotel is an older building but rooms are spacious.Have a look at Trivago to get the best deals as booking directly with the hotel would have been almost twice the price.

Douglas Grace: This was sheer joy to stay in this very old hotel. The staff were simply wonderful, our room was quiet and clean, and our meal was beyond tasty, it was simply beautiful.Right across the road is Bute Park and Cardiff Castle, and shopping and eateries a minutes walk. This is simply the most central hotel you could want, and everyone that works there were helpful and friendly, and made us feel most welcome.Walkability: Nearly everything we wantwd to do was walking distance, brilliant!

Stephen Lewis: A warm welcome from reception. Was there for an all-day meeting and a good supply of pastries, and help-yourself drinks. Lunch was fine and the stroganoff and lemon rice was the best pick.

Vivien: It is not as posh as how their google image look like - In term of their outer building! The room is clean too and spacious. Great location to Cardiff, Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 city centre!Rooms: Very clean and spacious!Nearby activities: Near city centre - Maybe 10 mins walk

Christopher Fordham: Great location in the centre of Cardiff, only a few minutes walk from the arena and cafes and bars. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful.I agree with other recent reviews that the rooms are looking a little tired in places, but no worst than similar brands of hotels. However, everything was very clean, we slept really well in a good comfortable bed. Breakfast had a good selection and certainly went down well. For those who want to park, the car park has limited height and space size. I’m pleased we brought the Mini instead of the Landrover!

SAID Ahmed: Perfect location, very close to town centre, reasonable price, good breakfast, unfortunately dirty bed and old mattressRooms: Dirty bed head and old mattress

Liza Kennedy: Lewis was the most professional lovely manager, he was so accommodating to our needs and really listened to us, made the stay fantastic. So refreshing to deal with and totally revived our stay which started off rocky. The main area is lovely, the first room was dated and in need of new carpet.Nearby activities: Brilliant location for city centre.

LE FO: Stayed 1 month for work, rooms are nice but TV and wifi can be frustrating, breakfast definetly the week link in the all stay, can vary a lot in quality from mediocre to unacceptable when the hotel is busy with group tours.I had a lovely afternoon tea on the terrace overlooking the lake.Staff generally very nice. .. With one or two exceptions.Swimming pool is ok, same goes for gym and sauna.Overall an ok stay.
