Cardiff Bay Barrage: what do users think?

Jan: Great walk on here but we chose a day when the bridge was closed so couldn't finish our walk to Penarth

A P: An amazing walkIt’s always refreshingConnecting the Cardiff bay with Penarth

Atar Azhar: Good

Corina Miron: The silence and the view charge you with energy

Julie Brown: Absolutely fantastic, the structure created for the sea ferry and crossing takes your breath away. We walked around the Bay following the Bay walkway and saw some amazing views over the bay. The wildlife is phenomenal

Amanda Jenkins: A great place to see the sun setting. And to watch the Barrage letting the yachts and boats in and out

Leanne Kelly: Wonderful day out with the family

Paul Knott: more parking available on the Cardiff side, then go and watch boats go from inside the bay out to sea. When large boats go through you see the barrage lift up. Bike hire available but it's a pleasant walk around the bay. You can walk past the Welsh assembly building, the Norwegian church, plus many other attractions. Take a boat trip up the river Taff to the heart of the city and see the magnificent rugby stadium then up the river Ely pass the boat club to see the abundance of wildlife that lives on its bank. I tend to go to the barrage to fish for all the usual channel species and accasionally catch a decent Bass. But on other visits I love to take the grandchildren for a walk around and the boat trip which I never get bored with.

Martin Mystery: Great place to be visited !

David Harding: Love it 😀

Tristan Lawrie: A wonderful marvel of engineering and a mighty sight when in operation.Hosts a wonderful walk from mermaid quay up to Penarth via the Wales coast path, which is superb on a sunny day.All right by the Sea on one side, and the bay on the other.Well worth a trip.

Old Bishop's Palace: what do users think?

Ibtihal Abdullah (Ibtihalati): Took so many pictures in that small area of great vibes!

Ellie Brodie: Small little green area surrounded by old ruins. It isn't worth a visit to only come here, so I would recommend tagging onto a visit to the cathedral or Llandaff more generally. It can be a nice place to sit with a picnic in sunny weather.Dog-friendliness: Dogs are welcome. The area has one exit that joins to the road.

Carlos Coccaro: I love

Jan Boukal: A small ruin of the bishop's castle - palace, freely accessible, almost without people.

Victoria S: Lovely, peaceful little garden set in the remains of the Old Bishop’s Palace, next to Llandaf Cathedral. You can hear lots of birdsong and forget you’re in the middle of a city. There’s plenty of benches for a rest and when the weather’s nice, it’s a suntrap here. There’s a lawn in the middle and trees next to the old palace walls. This is one of the more historical places to visit in Cardiff. The rest of Llandaf village is nice to visit with the Cathedral and its cafes, restaurants and pubs.

Sue: Lovely secluded garden to picnic in on a warm dry day.

Christine Allen: It was early when I passed so peaceful as no one about. When its hot unfortunately sometimes people are in there drinking cans of alcohol

lee simpson: Clean and quiet and old ,.

Robert Kay: Calm and peaceful

Stephen Khan: Quiet , peaceful and relaxing area .

Mr Meighan: The go-to place if you want to see some local wildlife, tonnes of bird varieties & the hides are decent too. Highly advise sticking around to see the kingfishers! Amazing little things. Also, the smaller more common birds will happily eat out of your hand if you take some food along.

Emmanuel Olowohunwa: Techniquest is a science and discovery center located in Cardiff, Wales. It is an interactive science museum designed to engage visitors, particularly children, in hands-on exhibits and experiments. The center focuses on making science and technology accessible and fun, encouraging learning through interactive displays. It's a popular destination for school visits and families, offering a range of exhibits covering topics such as physics, biology, and technology to inspire curiosity and interest in science.

Rachel Ball: I remember visiting as a child, and could not wait to take my own children...we visited as a family of four, 2 adults and boys age 7 and 5 on a Tuesday in half term. We paid £2 per person extra to visit the planetarium too.Brilliant value day out. We stayed 5 hours. The boys were fascinated from the moment we stepped through the door. There were some exhibits that were closed for repair or refurbishment but still plenty to keep us busy. The staff were helpful and approachable. The planetarium was fun but I just couldn't hear the lady talking for large parts of it.There's a picnic area so that you can take your own food as we did but there's also a great looking coffee shop on site too.
