The Potted Pig: what do users think?

gregoryjamesdavis: The atmosphere and service was absolutely excellent. However other than the sour dough the food was overall very disappointing. The French onion soup was so sweet it was overpowering and most of our party didn’t finish, it may have been better off to top the whole soup off in a larger bowl just with the Welsh rarebit which was lovely. Our mains were also disappointing, my Hake was over cooked and tiny for £28. Without any form of carbohydrates with it. Our other friends had steak which was well seasoned and well cooked but they had no sauces available which ruined the dish for three of our party.Overall for that price point for a meal we had a much higher expectation.

Jacqui Eliza: The staff made the entire night. Extremely welcoming, chatty and attentive. Perfect example of why you tip service. Only lost a star as unfortunately the table was a bit near to the kitchen which naturally had a bit of working noise. As well as this, the duck dish didn't quite live up to the price. Would 100% recommend the fish and garlic potatoes though.

Lucy Willder: We visited on a night when there was some filming going on with Adam Richman. We decided to just order mains and save ourselves for dessert.I’m not sure whether it was the kerfuffle from the filming but it took a very long time for our food to arrive. The waiter having noticed this brought out a bowl of olives. We would have preferred the Crackling, Dijon and Cornichons. For mains we ordered:Roast Pork Belly, Glazed Pig Cheek, Butternut Squash Purée, Celeriac, and some long awaited Crackling.Rib-eye, Oxtail Sauces, Pommes Anna, Chimichurri. The steak was cooked medium/rare as recommended on the menu.I am really pleased that I went with the pork. It was the right choice. The three generous squares of perfectly cooked, tender pork belly came resting on three sweet circles of butternut squash. Laid on top of these was the Glazed Pig Cheek, which was dense in flavour and texture almost acting like a rich stuffing would to a roast dinner. Finally there was a small heap of celeriac and a thick strand of well crisped crackling. It was a very comforting and yummy. The ribeye steak came cut into strips and cooked as requested. It was juicy with a good balance of meat and fat. There was no requirement for steak knife that arrived with it. Restaurants should not need to provide if they are confident in the quality of their meat! There was a large slap of the Pommes Anna accompanied by a good portion of chimichurri. The rich oxtail sauce was served in it’s own little pot rather than drowning a perfectly good steak.Overall a lovely evening with decent food.

Robert Williams: Excellent evening at the Potted Pig. Superb service throughout the evening, staff very friendly & knowledgeable. A great & inventive menu, certainly something for everyone.Good wine list with prices to match all pockets, & a very good cocktails choice. If okly we lived closer it would soon become a regular haunt for my wife & I!

First Floor Restaurant Cardiff: what do users think?

Tania At home: Excellent service. Arrived really late with a dog looking for a room for the night. The reception staff were so friendly and helpful and helped us to sign up for the ACCOR registration which gave us access to a double upgrade to a premium suite. Fantastic toiletries in the sumptuous bathroom. Robes and slippers in the room. Good location right in the centre of Cardiff; the only downside is lack of parking, but if you know cardiff, you can park for free about 200m away. Had access to the spa the following morning as well as an outside guest but because the steam room wasn't working, they received a discount entrance fee. All the staff couldn't do enough to help and chat at all times. The breakfast buffet was more than adequate although a little steep at £16.95 for our daughter who visited us for breakfast. All in all, it was the staff who were so welcoming, we will definitely stay here again if we can get the same room when we revisit cardiff. Highly recommended.Walkability: Eat walking distance to cardiff centre

Jacob Portsmouth: First and foremost I just want to say how lovely everything was. The service was good, the hotel was beautiful, the room was comfy and spacious. Couldn’t fault the hospitality for the weekend. The only reason this is only a four star review and not five is because there was a bad drainage smell coming out of the bathroom. We had to keep the door shut when we weren’t in there because it would waft into the whole room. Not sure if any other rooms were affected by this but we wanted to make the staff aware so that they could rectify the issue for future stays. Apart from that one tiny hiccup everything was perfect. Thank you so much for having us!

Sonia Alazzani: The room was spotless and the lady on reception was friendly and polite.Rooms: The room was ab fab as soon as I walked in I thort omg this is gorgeous. The bathroom is gorgeous the whole room is gorgeous but the bathroom is ab fab.Safety: 100% safe location and the room was safe as wellWalkability: Its easy to get to from the bus stop.Food & drinks: Can't say about food and drink because we didn't order any.Noteworthy details: Its easy to get to and its only approximately 5mins from the bus stop.

Adam Curtis: Very enjoyable stay at the Mercure for a couple days in Cardiff. We were able to leave our bags with them to explore ahead of checking in.On check-in we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite, which was incredible. The room was absolutely massive with two bathrooms, a separate living room space with 55” TV, desk, mini cooler with drinks and snacks, tea and a Nespresso coffee machine. The bedroom was also large with a comfy king size bed and another TV.The main bathroom had a shower and large bath. The panoramic views from the room were great, although the windows were filthy - however when you’re 14/15 floors up, this can’t be easy to clean! The spa was nice, the pool was a little fresh, but fine. Unfortunately on both visits, part of it was closed off for swimming lessons. The sauna was lovely. The steam room was unfortunately closed as it wasn’t working and didn’t look like it had for a while. The jacuzzi was often full with people spending long periods of time in there, but if you were lucky you could manage to sneak in there.Breakfast was also nice, the cereal selection was good, the continental was very basic and the cooked was pretty basic too, although you could find things to eat. The pastries were ok, but had to be slightly picky.Location wise, the hotel is less than 10min from the main city centre and 20min or so from Cardiff Bay.Overall a really enjoyable stay though, helped along with the room upgrade. We would definitely stay there again!

Tracey Lewis: This is a amazing & beautiful hotel. All staff, were pleasant & happy, especially the gorgeous Levi & her cocktails. The rooms were a good size & spotlessly clean. The spa & pool were fantastic & again our facials & massage made me feel so relaxed.I stayed with my cousin & we could not believe the value for money. The food was excellent, as was the price & service. We had a amazing time & will not hesitate to return or recommend to everyone. Thank you all so much.

Al Bailey93: Been to the Mercure hotel twice, all in a short space of time as my partner and I were so blown away back in January. Visited again this weekend for my partners birthday and once again, had an amazing time. The suites were stunning with great decor and lovely welcome messages and gifts. The pool and leisure facilities were great as well as the restaurant. Ruth was particularly lovely and provided the very best customer service. Can't wait ti visit again!

Gemma Richardson: We were super lucky and the hotel upgraded us, which was really kind. Room was amazing, such great views, and a really central location.Only thing that let it down slightly was that the spa felt a bit sad - hot tub not working, nor was one of the showers.

Juniper Place: what do users think?

Jon Longthorpe: Great Place, nothing else to add.

Shaun Reed: Food: 5/5

PAUL WIELAND: The 5 starts where for our visit last year, absolutely fantastic evening food , cocktails and service. If I where to mark this year I would give 1 star as we left before being served, 3 4 minutes waiting inside the door, taken to table, 5 minutes or more where asked what drinks we want, we don't know because we don't have a drinks menu, when we did get 1 it was nowhere as good as last year food menu quite poor compared to last year. At this point we left,... we where so looking forward to our evening with you there as we had a fantastic time the year before, but we not to be.

Sean Harris: Excellent food, great place to eat

Paige Leach: Amazing place, great service and super welcoming. A lovely place to relax in the evening. Really beautiful indoors and outside. Our new favourite place. Consistent high standards and friendly staff. Also excellent prices for good drinks. Will definitely be coming back!

Sam Dennings: Very beautiful foods and drinks, staffs very good attitude friendly and good communication

Joe Miles: We called in just for drinks and got a lovely warm welcome and friendly service. Can’t get over the ambience of this bar and it’d be perfect for a wedding reception at the back. It’s like Dr Who’s tardis and massive 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼🔥🔥🔥

P B: Food was great but didn't think much of the service as staff seemed distracted - could have easily been a 5star review.

panyaphon phiphatkunarnon: It’s call sweet Bomb.

Bill's Cardiff Central Restaurant: what do users think?

Derek Smith: , I had Earl Grey, served in a large Red Tin Teapot!! Wonderful!!! Staff were great, located in a Victorian Arcade, couldn't be better... loved it.

Sarah Williams: First experience of Bill's early this morning for a breakfast meeting. Excellent avocado on sourdough toast with poached egg and I loved the battered enamel teapot and old-fashioned china cup and saucer. Very impressed all the tables outside in the arcade were spruced up and ready to go at 8 a.m. Will be back ... maybe two teabags in the teapot next time?

Paige Georgina: place. From the moment you step into the establishment you are greeted by friendly and helpful staff and beautiful decor. The staff were informative as to when our table would be ready, patient with us when we couldn’t decide on what to choose and helpful whenever we needed assistance. The food was absolutely delicious and came out promptly after ordering. The coffee was delicious, too with a wide range to choose from. The dessert was so tasty and a wonderful finish to a lovely little brunch!Highly recommend place and with how popular it was when we went on Saturday, I’d 100% say book a table to avoid missing out!

Fez: We booked a table in advance which was a good thing as there was quite a queue when we arrived. We were greeted and seated quickly by friendly staff. All staff throughout were wonderful. The food was served quickly and was hot with ample portions. The Brunch with extra pancakes was absolutely outrageous! Really enjoyed it!Great menu with good options for all.Overall, great staff, great food, great location with good atmosphere and ample portions!Recommended!!

Alexander Stathakis: Wow Wow Wow what can I say. My breakfast here at bills was incredible. the potatoes were cooked to perfection and the egg was just the best. If you get the bills breakfast I would recommend the extra pancake. It really adds to it. Also the juices in the morning are so refreshing. I love it here.

Pedro Freitas: Recommended dishes Chocolate Brownie, Diver Scallops, Risotto

StarGazer67676: , they also added a service charge which I'd asked via email to be removed but we still got charged for it.Trying to book a table is also impossible - no one ever seems to answer the phone, and the website just doesn't have it for some reason, so I ended up having to do it through their Instagram page!If you manage to book a table, it's worth going, but keep expectations level

Steffan Norman: Amazing meal for my anniversary, unbelievable staff and service

Busaba Cardiff: what do users think?

Rhiannon James: Recently visited on a Saturday afternoon, table we were seated at was right in the draft of the door. We were moved no problem, drinks nice food ordered. One of groups mains was off the menu, so had to reorder.Meal was tasty but not really impressed. The duck was cooked slightly over which made it quick chewy and sauce was sparse. Not sure if I'd return. But other members of the party enjoyed their meals.

Octavian Starr: Lovely, stuff was very friendly and approachable restaurant super clean. I had the asparagus fried rice and the malted chicken wings and the Mekong daiquiri and it was all so delicious and really well paired. I will definitely come back here when I come back to Cardiff!Vegetarian options: There are a lot of vegetarian options. I had a vegetarian mane with some chicken wings on the side and it was absolutely lovely. The vegetarian man was so well balanced and deliciousDietary restrictions: I don't have any that would relate to this place but they asked me before I ordered which was very nice and accessibleWheelchair accessibility: The restaurant seems to be completely accessible except for some steps at the front, but that does look like they have an ramp. The staff saw my cane right away and open the door for me. It was excellent

james griffiths: Cassidy and the staff were fantastic and the food was amazing

lauren sheehan: One of my absolute favourite places to eat, the best meals with the most amazing staff, couldn’t recommend it enough, we’ve tried the belly pork, katsu breaded chicken and the duck noodles and never had any complaints, our most recent server was Cassius who was so lovely, more than happy to recommend dishes based on foods you liked, it’s one of the only places I could honestly eat at every day of the week!Vegetarian options: I’m not a vegetarian but just by looking at the menu you can see they have such a good choice for everyone!

Katie Kavanagh: Food was amazing, and Cassiddy was the most friendly and lovely host! Definitely would come back!

Jacob Richards: 10/10 food ! Nice environment. Cassidy was a top don !

B Camb26: Lovely food. Cassidy our server was fab and gave us good wine and food recommendations! The restaurant styling is very chic too 👌🏻

Mark Godfrey: First time at this restaurant. Asked the waitress what she would recommend. Her recommendation was delicious and the service outstanding at a very busy time. Thank you Sabina.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options availableDietary restrictions: Asked about food allergies at soon as we sat at our tableKid-friendliness: A young child about 2 years old sat on the next table to me and was loving the food.

Sue Taylor: The meals that we had were all absolutely amazing. 2 Breaded Chicken, absolutely delicious, with the most amazing curry sauce. 3 Half a chicken with slaw and sweet potato fries. And one duck noodles. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and we would not hesitate to go back there! In fact, my cousin who had the noodles was absolutely raving about the meal and he said he wants to revisit just to have that meal again! He and his Sister traveled from Portsmouth, two of the group traveled from Weymouth. And two of us local. So I was very relieved that Busaba came up trumps! After reading some of the reviews I was apprehensive. But There was no need. The staff were amazing and helpful and service was excellent. It was a very busy day because of the Wales v Australia Rugby. The restaurant was fully booked and very busy but all staff coped admirably. I would highly recommend and cannot wait to revisit.Vegetarian options: No vegetarians in our party. But vegetarian options on menu.Dietary restrictions: We were asked if we had any allergies.

Aled Nelmes: Food always stunning, the team are lovely, especially Cassiddy who served us. Will be visiting again soon.

K D: My partner and I went to Basuba as an early anniversary late lunch/early dinner. The decor and welcome were both very nice. The waitress, Ellie, was attentive but not over bearing. The mocktails we ordered were to die for.The food: I ordered the Classic Pad Thai with a side of Satay Cabbage and my partner ordered the Katsu curry with spring rolls. At the beginning there was a very small mix up with the food but Ellie handled it in the most professional way imaginable. She was apologetic and courteous. She resolved the issue quickly and with a great attitude. All the food was amazing, flavourful, and great portion sizes! We will definitely be returning and recommending to all our friends! Thank you to all the team but especially Ellie for a great time.

Alex Jones: Had a delicious pad Thai and spring rolls, perfect portion of food and the place was done out beautifully. Good music on in the background so a good all round vibe... waiter was helpful and friendly 👌

Gabriela Croitoru: . Thank you again!

Kelsey Louise: Such a lovely place to eat, drink and relax! 3rd time visiting and everything is always 10/10. Served tonight by Cassiddy and he was extremely attentive, couldn’t of ask for a better person to be served by. Had a perfect anniversary dinner and will no doubt be back soon x

Sarah .Lou: I have been to this restaurant many times after becoming a fan of busaba in London. Every time its been wonderful service and great food. I always recommend to people to try this place out!!!

Edmund Stewart-Pearson: Had a brilliant evening which was made even better by Cassiddy. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be going back

Heaneys Restaurant: what do users think?

Andrew Drayton: We dined in for the tasting menu. Incredible food, with really well thought out flavours.Service was attentive, friendly and not at all stuffy.Thoroughly reccomend.

Waleed Khalid: A sea trout and baked potato course arrived as a wafer-thin tartlet topped with a froth of, conceivably, spume. It was light and “er, interesting.” Our first course was a bowlful of broth with a side of super-thin slivers of duck – a quackscuttio, if you will. “There’s no right or wrong way to eat this,” said our waiter, which was good to know, especially as we’d not been given any cutlery.Dumping the duck in the broth and downing in one seemed to be the sensible approach, and it was good and meaty. As was its follow-up, the oxtail and anchovy chunklets: all gone without hitting the sides.

Sarah Jones: We recently enjoyed a delightful Sunday lunch at Heanys. For starters, we savoured the fishcake in coconut Thai sauce, bursting with flavour. Moving on to the main course, the succulent and tender lamb dinner had delightful hints of barbecue and garlic. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

Ant: Heaneys Restaurant is a Michelin recommended restaurant in Cardiff. There is different menu variations throughout the week, including tasting menu. Went there for Sunday lunch and had the set menu. The interior is modern and simplistic, very nice. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Our waiter was Grant, he was extremely attentive and anticipated the needs of the guests. Absolute star! The food is absolutely amazing. The aged beef was so flavourful and rich, all the trimmings of the Sunday roast were perfect, had a massive Yorkshire pudding. The vegetarian sunflower seed pithivier was perfect too! The desserts were exceptional! The chocolate choux is perfection! Overall, amazing experience! Definitely recommend visiting! Thank you to the whole team!

Karen A Brown: Firstly what a warm friendly greeting from the team. We'd rang to say we may be a little late as uber after uber had let us down. We turned up 20min late which we never do i get stressed. However the lady on the phone assured me it would be alright not to worry. Once we arrived we were shown a lovely round table by the window. One of the team brought us water and explained the menu. We went for the short taster with wine for each course. Oh my what a journey! Each dish so different and delicious. Each dish a master piece. Each dish explained to us. Each wine complimented each dish. The sommelier discribed each wine in detail.Thank you for an unforgetable birthday. We will return. Karen and Dave

Jacob Thomas: One of the best spots in Cardiff without a doubt, amazing flavours and innovative dishes. The taster menu is a must, great experience overall.

Andrew Ellison: Came here for our 1st wedding anniversary. Excellent restaurant with Michelin star quality food and service. We had the long tasting menu and each course was delicious. My wife is lactose intolerant and they accommodated to her needs with no issues. It is pricey but that is to be expected for the quality of food. Courses were weighted towards fish so non fish lovers would struggle with the tasting menu. But having said that I'm not a huge fan of fish but I enjoyed every course. Would definitely return again for a special occasion. I would expect this restaurant to be awarded a Michelin star in the near future.

Upstairs dining and very polite and helpful staff. Great to be able to see the kitchen in full flight and seeing how good the food looked. Main courses and mini deserts with a hot drink of choice. All fresh hot all very tasty and plenty of fab gravy. You have to call it from your own experience so 10/10 from us. Add a surprise 88th birthday cake well done guys.... well done and thank you. Steven Evans: Holy was great!

Amanda Scarfe: , Trio of Roast Meats

patricia diez sanchez: First time there. The atmosphere was great. Food was good, cocktail good too. But service..... -10 we ordered a squid took 25 minutes to arrive to the table wasn't kitchen fault because we are sitting in front of the pass and the squid was under the light for more than 15 minutes and the waitress talking and walking around, was really disappointed and more when you can see on the screem the time and tables are waiting for food. With the prices you have you need to give better service

Jessica Leeke: This was an amazing experience and are waiter was a big part of it. Her name was Abby and she was a great waiter she was quick with are food and was very helpful. She was the best waiter I’ve ever had and Abby was great! I totally recommend this restaurant because it has great food and then vibe in the evening is lovely! It loved it and there was nothing negative about it and I’m being totally honest. It is the best!Kid-friendliness: There was a great kids menu and the workers were really friendly and chatty.Wheelchair accessibility: There are toilets upstairs and there is an extra toilet at the bottom for disabled people.

Frances Burgess: Food was good but linguine dish very expensive given the portion size. Chipotle chicken very tasty. Only real complaint was restaurant table near the window was very cold and uncomfortable, made worse by people going out through fire door. Would not want to sit there again.

MANDY Watkins: Loved the Sunday lunch great quality and taste, if I had to say any that's slightly negative it would be the temperature of the food I could see it being on the cold side for a lot of people, but for me it was OK as I don't like my food very hot , but it was one of the best Sunday lunches I had in a long time , and definitely be returning, staff were welcoming, attentive , over all experience was great , will be recommending the old cottage to friends and family for sure , keep up the good work team old cottage.

Marianne Humphreys: Absolutely divine. My experience was so enjoyable. Met more dogs than you can shake a stick at !! So lovely,..Beautiful food. So tasty 😋 how you supply such tasty food to So many people !!Vegetarian options: Fig and vegetarian Sunday lunch. With vegetables and cauliflower cheese xxx
