Park Plaza Cardiff: what do users think?

Dennis Alford: Good day out learning about are history and parts CardiffI never new

Lely Tobing: Very comfortable room to stay, good bed, duvet and lighting. I had dinner at Laguna Restaurant, it was brilliant. They give you discount to park your car in NCP, it’s still expensive, maybe there’s other place to park and cheaper, we didn't have time to explore.

Sid: : The staff greeted me like I was their long-lost BFF, even though I couldn't be bothered to ask for a room with a view. Lazy wins again!Gym Time Warp: The gym was like a blast from the past with its vintage equipment, but hey, it did the job. Who needs fancy gadgets when you've got determination, right?Pool Party: The swimming pool was basically a warm, watery hug. I could've stayed there forever if it weren't for those pesky wrinkles.Sauna and Jacuzzi Bliss: The sauna and jacuzzi were like the dynamic duo of relaxation. I'm pretty sure I achieved zen status in there.Food Frenzy: The menu had more options than my brain could handle, but as a veggie lover, I had to venture outside for some leafy goodness. Good thing there were food joints galore nearby!Cookie Craze: Those cookies with tea were like tiny bites of heaven. I swear I must've begged for more with the desperation of a kid who lost their candy.Bathroom Sanctuary: The bathroom was basically my personal spa retreat. Hot water, a bathtub made for soaking, and enough fluffy towels to build a fort – what more could a tired traveler ask for?Breakfast Bonanza: Breakfast was the highlight of my mornings, especially the British breakfast. I was tempted to propose to the chef, but I settled for a heartfelt "thank you" instead. In summary: This hotel gets a big thumbs up from me. It's like a home away from home, but with better cookies and a jacuzzi. Can't ask for much more than that, folks!

Thomas Black: First time staying, couldn’t fault itRooms: Very spacious superior double. Mini fridge, tea and coffee, complimentary chilled water. Very clean room.Food & drinks: Nice buffet breakfast, usual cooked items plus cereals, pastries, yoghurts and juices

Robert M. Corless: I thought I had written my review of this place but apparently I haven't! Better late than never as they say. After careful consideration, we have come to the conclusion that this is the best hotel we've ever stayed at in forty years of traveling. The quality of the room and the bathroom was excellent. The size of the room was exemplary. I had plenty of room to work. The thing that really made it for us though was the quality of the breakfast, which is included. We stayed for two weeks, which is a long time to stay in a hotel. The variety of food that was available for breakfast kept us more than happy for the whole time.As an added bonus, there was a fitness center attached to the hotel that was a real gym. Like getting a free membership for a full fitness club.I'm now remembering that I have written this before. Well, if it's a duplicate review too bad.

Gareth Thomas: Spent a night at the hotel for my partner’s birthday.Great hotel and service. Quick check in, rooms spotless with plenty of amenities.Spa facilities were great and they let us use the spa after we checked out which was a nice touch.Great breakfast with plenty of options for all.Location bang smack in the centre of the city and within walking distance of shops, bars, restaurants etc.

Rebecca Young: Highly recommend the gentleman’s afternoon tea… a delight in every mouthful… part of a party 20-25 ladies..Food & drinks: Afternoon teas are lovely

Zandria Arundel: I stayed in this hotel with my sister on the 22nd of February for one night and we were very happy with everything. Room was lovely and clean, comfortable beds. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The pool and spa were great. Excellent breakfast with so much choice. Could not fault anything, will definitely stay here again.Rooms: Lovely and clean. Comfortable beds. Only downside is that the pillows were a bit too soft.

Karl Champniss: Second visit to the hotel. This occassion the room seemed to be a smaller room than previous. We were on the 4th floor and was very noisy, with doors banging most of the night and early in the morning with staff cleaning rooms early too.Heating in the room was not great and had obviously been brought up before as there was an electric heater left in the room.Cleaning standards not great. Sink was covered in water marks and white stains where it hadn't been scrubbed clean. Dust and cobwebs around the room also. Glasses and cups not very clean and looked more to have been wiped rather than washed clean.Staff helpful on arrival and welcoming.Breakfast was of good quality with plenty on offer, from the usual full English to continental buffet with cereals, fruits etc.Would visit again but perhaps would look out for a discount or offer rather than full price booking.

The Angel Hotel - part of The Cairn Collection: what do users think?

Mike Burch: and cricket

Phillip Toombs: Visited with the wife for a Murder,Mystery night. Lovely hotel which does have it faults but you must take into account it is an Historical Building not a newbuild. So if your a person that wants to pick holes and expect perfection then go to the Ritz as this hotel is not for you. All the staff were very helpful and gave excellent customer service. The food was very good and served hot. Certain drinks were quite expensive ie £7.00 for a pint of Guinness and £6.50 for Strongbow mixed fruit but overall the majority of spirits were reasonably price but the mixers were not £2 40 for a Fever Tree.Overall had a great night and would go back. There is a car park at the rear of the hotel which cannot be reserved as it is owned by a private company and is £15 for an overnight stay and you can stay until 2pm the following afternoon. You must remember to log your registration number into the machine located at the reception desk and pay on arrival. There is only 1 disabled space.

Gemma Bowen: Amazing staff just had our wedding here and they were amazing especially Eve and Ashley ! Would definitely recommend anyone who are thinking of booking their wedding here. They go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and special 😊Nearby activities: Close to the castle and central

Paula “Plinky” K: Absolute gem. Lovely staff, great reception, clean spacious rooms. Thank you for looking after the rugby girls and being so accommodatingNearby activities: Centre of Cardiff, so much to see and do.Walkability: Central location right next to Sophia GardensFood & drinks: Lovely menu

iTiarnán: this is why i would like to leave a significant review as i feel it’s important to give the staff here their dues, i didn’t know this at the time but this hotel is actually registered as a place is safety and for locals to the area i think this is super important for people to know. i was left stranded in cardiff within the early hours and had lost my phone, all of my friends had left and i couldn’t find anyone and had no way to communicate with them. i was cold and wet. By chance i walked into the hotel lobby and was greeted by a very caring individual Sarah at reception i seriously can’t thank you enough. i had no means to get home or communicate with any of my friends and family, you made sure i was safe and helped me to find means to get home safely. i truly do not know what would have done that day without your help as i was in a extremely vulnerable situation. you went beyond to help and even after this turns out my lost property had been found and kept safe.overall i think if there was more people like Sarah in the world, it wouldn’t be so bad a place and truly feel that the hotel is lucky to have someone so kind as an employee. now looking back im glad my high school prom used this place as a venue. can not express this enough.thank you ☺️Nearby activities: there is plenty to do in Cardiff and this hotel is in the centre of it all, it has lovely views of the castle and park opposite and is within walking distance of plenty activities, such as bars, escapes and the Millennium Stadium for all you concert and game watchers.Safety: this is why i would like to leave a significant review as i feel it’s important to give the staff here their dues, i didn’t know this at the time but this hotel is actually registered as a place is safety and for locals to the area i think this is super important for people to know. i was left stranded in cardiff within the early hours and had lost my phone, all of my friends had left and i couldn’t find anyone and had no way to communicate with them. i was cold and wet. Richard Newberry: An older hotel but just a short walk from the city centre. Cardiff Castle is just over the road whilst the Principality stadium is close by too. Hotel is an older building but rooms are spacious.Have a look at Trivago to get the best deals as booking directly with the hotel would have been almost twice the price.

Douglas Grace: This was sheer joy to stay in this very old hotel. The staff were simply wonderful, our room was quiet and clean, and our meal was beyond tasty, it was simply beautiful.Right across the road is Bute Park and Cardiff Castle, and shopping and eateries a minutes walk. This is simply the most central hotel you could want, and everyone that works there were helpful and friendly, and made us feel most welcome.Walkability: Nearly everything we wantwd to do was walking distance, brilliant!

Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel & Spa: what do users think?

Tania At home: Excellent service. Arrived really late with a dog looking for a room for the night. The reception staff were so friendly and helpful and helped us to sign up for the ACCOR registration which gave us access to a double upgrade to a premium suite. Fantastic toiletries in the sumptuous bathroom. Robes and slippers in the room. Good location right in the centre of Cardiff; the only downside is lack of parking, but if you know cardiff, you can park for free about 200m away. Had access to the spa the following morning as well as an outside guest but because the steam room wasn't working, they received a discount entrance fee. All the staff couldn't do enough to help and chat at all times. The breakfast buffet was more than adequate although a little steep at £16.95 for our daughter who visited us for breakfast. All in all, it was the staff who were so welcoming, we will definitely stay here again if we can get the same room when we revisit cardiff. Highly recommended.Walkability: Eat walking distance to cardiff centre

Jacob Portsmouth: First and foremost I just want to say how lovely everything was. The service was good, the hotel was beautiful, the room was comfy and spacious. Couldn’t fault the hospitality for the weekend. The only reason this is only a four star review and not five is because there was a bad drainage smell coming out of the bathroom. We had to keep the door shut when we weren’t in there because it would waft into the whole room. Not sure if any other rooms were affected by this but we wanted to make the staff aware so that they could rectify the issue for future stays. Apart from that one tiny hiccup everything was perfect. Thank you so much for having us!

Sonia Alazzani: The room was spotless and the lady on reception was friendly and polite.Rooms: The room was ab fab as soon as I walked in I thort omg this is gorgeous. The bathroom is gorgeous the whole room is gorgeous but the bathroom is ab fab.Safety: 100% safe location and the room was safe as wellWalkability: Its easy to get to from the bus stop.Food & drinks: Can't say about food and drink because we didn't order any.Noteworthy details: Its easy to get to and its only approximately 5mins from the bus stop.

Adam Curtis: Very enjoyable stay at the Mercure for a couple days in Cardiff. We were able to leave our bags with them to explore ahead of checking in.On check-in we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite, which was incredible. The room was absolutely massive with two bathrooms, a separate living room space with 55” TV, desk, mini cooler with drinks and snacks, tea and a Nespresso coffee machine. The bedroom was also large with a comfy king size bed and another TV.The main bathroom had a shower and large bath. The panoramic views from the room were great, although the windows were filthy - however when you’re 14/15 floors up, this can’t be easy to clean! The spa was nice, the pool was a little fresh, but fine. Unfortunately on both visits, part of it was closed off for swimming lessons. The sauna was lovely. The steam room was unfortunately closed as it wasn’t working and didn’t look like it had for a while. The jacuzzi was often full with people spending long periods of time in there, but if you were lucky you could manage to sneak in there.Breakfast was also nice, the cereal selection was good, the continental was very basic and the cooked was pretty basic too, although you could find things to eat. The pastries were ok, but had to be slightly picky.Location wise, the hotel is less than 10min from the main city centre and 20min or so from Cardiff Bay.Overall a really enjoyable stay though, helped along with the room upgrade. We would definitely stay there again!

Tracey Lewis: This is a amazing & beautiful hotel. All staff, were pleasant & happy, especially the gorgeous Levi & her cocktails. The rooms were a good size & spotlessly clean. The spa & pool were fantastic & again our facials & massage made me feel so relaxed.I stayed with my cousin & we could not believe the value for money. The food was excellent, as was the price & service. We had a amazing time & will not hesitate to return or recommend to everyone. Thank you all so much.

Al Bailey93: Been to the Mercure hotel twice, all in a short space of time as my partner and I were so blown away back in January. Visited again this weekend for my partners birthday and once again, had an amazing time. The suites were stunning with great decor and lovely welcome messages and gifts. The pool and leisure facilities were great as well as the restaurant. Ruth was particularly lovely and provided the very best customer service. Can't wait ti visit again!

Gemma Richardson: We were super lucky and the hotel upgraded us, which was really kind. Room was amazing, such great views, and a really central location.Only thing that let it down slightly was that the spa felt a bit sad - hot tub not working, nor was one of the showers.

Thea Murray: Attended a private event here and had such wonderful service! Especially from the waitress Emily!I have also stayed here and the rooms are lush! Such beautiful heritage and all the staff were so nice!Rooms: Lovely rooms and very comfyFood & drinks: So yummy

eddie don: Some small issue with the room, but with a building this old it can't be perfectAmazing double bath, clean and comfy beds.Big question would I stay there againDefinitely YES

David Richmond: The hotel is in an extraordinary building of deep historical significance to Cardiff. It is a bit of a maze to find your way around and would benefit from better signing and the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. My room had a slight smell of damp carpet - not unpleasant but not expected - and the bathroom was huge too with an enormous jacuzzi bath. Oddly tho, there was no shower which is what I really wanted. The staff were all very helpful and the bar/ restaurant was very good. Service was great, breakfast excellent and dinner very good and prices all reasonable. This place is good but has potential to be excellent with a few tweaks.

Ray Evans: i have already shared my experience on this visit, hotel on main street in city centre close to local restaurants/bars ideal situation .gesture on arrival to hotel gift voucher discount for on site bar.Nearby activities: already commented

Luke Hopewell: Probably the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever had, and I travelled for a living staying in hiltons on cruise ships and premier inns etc for years.Upon arriving, the bar kinda reminds me of a working men's club, but it was immaculately clean. The rooms are nice and very homely, not a sterile style some end up to be.Rooms: Very nice roomNearby activities: Slap bang next to a multitude of bars and restaurants.Walkability: Very close to rail links and city centre shops and bars.

Marco Coelho: , I had difficulty reconfirming the reservation because they didn't respond on social media and the website form gave an error. I had to call.Having overcome this small problem and arrived at the hotel, I was able to immediately see the excellence of the location. The pedestrian street, full of entertainment, many restaurant options and access to some of Cardiff's famous arcades. As for amenities, it is a traditionally "British" hotel with a vintage touch. The room, with sufficient space, is equipped with everything necessary, including the essential heating.Buffet breakfast is also very good. Varied as much as possible.I recommend.

Jane Jamieson: . Be aware of how you approach the cooked breakfast bar as this weekend they had a male staff member on who followed you making sure you put the cutlery / tongs back correctly and huffed and threw his arms in air if not. Female member of breakfast staff was excellent and nothing too much trouble, even moving tables so that all 6 of us could be seated together. Hotel located on main bar strip so quite noisy if you had a room on the front of the hotel. But ideal if using this hotel as a base for a night out. Does have a small bar and plenty of seating which is manned by the reception staff. Reception staff were all helpful and friendly.

Stephen Lewis: A warm welcome from reception. Was there for an all-day meeting and a good supply of pastries, and help-yourself drinks. Lunch was fine and the stroganoff and lemon rice was the best pick.

Vivien: It is not as posh as how their google image look like - In term of their outer building! The room is clean too and spacious. Great location to Cardiff, Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 city centre!Rooms: Very clean and spacious!Nearby activities: Near city centre - Maybe 10 mins walk

Christopher Fordham: Great location in the centre of Cardiff, only a few minutes walk from the arena and cafes and bars. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful.I agree with other recent reviews that the rooms are looking a little tired in places, but no worst than similar brands of hotels. However, everything was very clean, we slept really well in a good comfortable bed. Breakfast had a good selection and certainly went down well. For those who want to park, the car park has limited height and space size. I’m pleased we brought the Mini instead of the Landrover!

SAID Ahmed: Perfect location, very close to town centre, reasonable price, good breakfast, unfortunately dirty bed and old mattressRooms: Dirty bed head and old mattress

Liza Kennedy: Lewis was the most professional lovely manager, he was so accommodating to our needs and really listened to us, made the stay fantastic. So refreshing to deal with and totally revived our stay which started off rocky. The main area is lovely, the first room was dated and in need of new carpet.Nearby activities: Brilliant location for city centre.

Slaylikebeaukay: I went to spend a few days with real fires, great food beautiful rooms and a quiet getaway with my mum . The house looks very beautiful. The whole place is very clean and service with a smile was at reception the bars and the dining area. A special shout out to the housekeepers who were quick quiet and super .We had a standard room and it came with an outside area and an astounding view over the valley . The bathroom was lovely too. A shower and a bath in the bathroom of room 6 is of a really good standard.Beds were comfortable slightly firm. Plenty of storage and lovely dog inspired art as well as local art and a lovely glossy book about the local areaTakes about 20 minutes to drive into Cardiff .Decent WiFi speed but you would have difficulty depending on it in some areas .Staff were able to have a little personality showing and looked out for each other. This was lovely to see and something above the corporate extra formal uniforms. Super professional reception staff they were always able to help. it was lovely to see the more experienced looking out for the newer staff when needed. My mum loves to ask questions and they tried their best to answer! The food was drop dead gorgeous. I loved the festive menu for dinner. The wines were well paired too. They kept my wine from one night for the next. You would spend more at the Miller carter down the road than here. Go hungry as the portions were great too!Rooms: Standard rooms are beautifully equipped

Ludo Gachet: A big thank you to David and his team for their welcome throughout our stay.Everything is perfect.

Finn Leszczynska: Excellent hotel with amazing staff. Really good bar and food area too!Rooms: Brilliant rooms well equipped and comfortable.Nearby activities: Cardiff has plenty to offer anybody.Food & drinks: Great selection of food and drinks on offer. Outstanding service as expected from a formally jury’s inn!

Nigel Richards: Lovely hotel, pleasant staff, and a great, central location. The room was big, well equipped and clean, with a massive, comfortable bed.The buffet breakfast was tasty, with everything you could need.My only gripe was the shower - which would occasionally start dripping from during the night with such noise. Apart from that, I would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Lilouh L: The staff I met was lovely, the room felt, clean, cosy and comfortable and the hotel is very conveniently located. I only gave a 4 star rating because the hotel needs a bit of refurbishing.

Zafir Hameed: Nice Environment

LE FO: Stayed 1 month for work, rooms are nice but TV and wifi can be frustrating, breakfast definetly the week link in the all stay, can vary a lot in quality from mediocre to unacceptable when the hotel is busy with group tours.I had a lovely afternoon tea on the terrace overlooking the lake.Staff generally very nice. .. With one or two exceptions.Swimming pool is ok, same goes for gym and sauna.Overall an ok stay.

Holiday Inn Cardiff City Centre, an IHG Hotel: what do users think?

Rob Howells: Excellent location and close to the railway station. Clean and tidy. Staff friendly and helpful. Overlooking the National stadium and a good range of pubs close by. Quiet at night and even the french teams were staying. Certainly use again. Thanks for a great stayRooms: Clean and tidy with all facilitiesNearby activities: Good shopping, pubs and restaurants. Great location.

Rodney Garnes: The room was clean and the staff were welcomingNearby activities: City centre, Cardiff CastleWalkability: It's about 10 mins from Cardiff Central train station

David Hickman: Wow, what a terrific hotel which is soooo close to the centre of Cardiff.Staff were all friendly, welcoming and happy to answer our questions.Breakfast was outstanding - we went for the full buffet which included fresh omelette and/or pancakes which easily got us through the days we were there. There are so many pubs, cafes and restaurants near by you really are spoilt for choice. If rugby is your thing, Principality Stadium is just next door. Otherwise there is plenty of tourist stuff close by, including Cardiff Castle over the road.

Robbie James: I was looking for a conference room to host my team and client at short notice. Louise was very accommodating and efficient in how the request was handled. I felt all my concerns were considered and was very happy with the booking. Tommy made the confirmation and payment process very straightforward too and was able to make a difficult late request possible too, which was much appreciated.A very smooth service all round and would definitely recommend for ease of booking and for the quality of the conference room. Thanks again Louise and Tommy.Walkability: Parking was offered but very close to public transport and some of the team also walked from various parts of Cardiff.Food & drinks: Team booked a lunch at the hotel, which had a variety of options and was well stocked to replenish us for the afternoon activity.

Dean Ibrahim: I have been staying in this hotel for work for the past few months. The staff here in front house and restaurant are professional and very friendly. Panos, in the bar, has got great taste and knowledge of food; if he recommends you must try it. I highly recommend this place to stay and eat.Walkability: Easy to walk to main Cardiff attractions.

Teresa Hand: Holiday in the right place if you want to go into the stadium, good carpark for hotel very friendly and door menRooms: Rooms cleanNearby activities: Close to stadium and shops pubsWalkability: GoodFood & drinks: Food lovely, bar good lovely stafff

Novotel Cardiff Centre: what do users think?

Charles Silberbauer: From the moment I arrived until I left, the smiles never stopped. Great staff and service.Only thing I would ask that needs changing is the gym and pool area to open 30 minutes earlier as 7 am is a bit late for us business folksRooms: Nice size and serviced dailySafety: Felt safe in all areas in and aroundWalkability: 10 minutes to the city center and 15 minutes to the bay areaFood & drinks: Nice select of food and drinks

emma butler: Mary at the front desk was absolutely incredible. She made us feel very welcome on national women’s day with some lovely cakes!!Walkability: very close to the city centre

terry jackson: even the builders bobbing around the hotel, and i must say the food in the restaurant is a must try.The food is second to none and reasonably priced for the quality of food you're being presented with. Every single mouthful was heaven 😋 thank you for a wonderful stay.Ps the shopping opportunities in Cardiff are a must. Be sure to visit Mermaid Quay. You will not be disappointed, i promise you.Rooms: The rooms are spacious and comfyNearby activities: Close to the city centre and Cardiff Bay

Norman: The hotel and facilities are good. It is the management that need to be more customer focused. The hotel was full of guests and children. At 2am the fire alarm went off, lasting about 10 minutes before it was silenced. In that time, every guest had got up, some clutching children and got as far as the corridor. This means every guest had a disturbed night. In the morning there were no managers greetings guest and apologising. On the rare occasion that this has happened in another hotel, the full management team were present, apologising and offering free coffee. When I spoke to the front desk staff in the morning they were quite dismissive. I asked if they knew where the mustering points were. They did not know. That is a serious training problem.Safety: The hotel and facilities are good. It is the management that need to be more customer focused. The hotel was full of guests and children. emma mundy: Nice hotel. Expensive car park. I thought it was free.... sign as you enter says £4 per hour!Nice pool. Came on a Sunday and there were public swimming lessons taking place. Hot tub, steam room and sauna all available to use. There's a gym on site too.Good size rooms with TV and hot drink making facilities.Quiet rooms, didn't really hear any outside noise.Customs shed restaurant downstairs serving tasty food and a big buffet breakfast area at reasonable prices.

Sarah Nunn: We had a brilliant time at the Novotel Cardiff. We stayed with our 4 year old. The room was spacious for the 3 of us. The swimming pool was fantastic and we swam every day after breakfast. Our favourite part was the customs shed that is attached. The breakfast and evening meals we enjoyed were fantastic and the staff were so friendly and attentive to our 4 year old. The only reason I wouldn’t give this hotel a 10 is because the rooms are quite warm with no air con. We would 100% stay again.Rooms: Very spacious with a sofa bed for our 4 year oldWalkability: Can walk into Cardiff centre in 15 mins, walking at a 4 year olds pace.Food & drinks: Good was brilliant, cannot rate highly enough. Great choice and serviceNoteworthy details: Great pool attached for swimming with children
