The Waterguard: what do users think?

Christopher Dyer: I feel like some of these reviews are unfair. There are criticisms that the pub doesn't have a music license - so? Who goes to a pub to listen to music. All Sam Smiths pubs don't have music, it's part of the aesthetic. You go there to chat, not to shout over the speakers. They say this on their website. Also, it's a proper public house, not a free house so they only do Sam Smiths products and associated products. This means Sam Smiths lager, bitter, crisps etc. I didn't know this until I went there and Googled it so I can understand why some people would rate this low, if they were expecting San Miguel on tap and Sam Smith on Radio 1. I will say however that it is expensive. More than £1 per pint more than the other bars in Cardiff Bay. I'd say try it out, but don't make it your regular unless you're a millionaire.Edit: still hasn't changed from my original review

Mary Golding: Atmosphere: 3/5

Mark Greenwood aka NANDOFF Data Recovery: Nice place.Only does weird beers though.Would be a 5* if they had something mainstream in.Staff where lovely.

Andrew Michael: We were so happy to find this restaurant/bar quite late on a Sunday afternoon. We had our small dog with us so we weren't confident on finding a suitable place to eat. We were welcomed at the door and seated. We enjoyed a Sunday roast and even the dog received a small bowl of meat.Food quality was excellent, the veggies being cooked to perfection, not over-cooked.The dessert were delicious too.Thank you team Waterguard!Parking: Paid parking area nearby however Blue Badge holders are free.

Brian Tucker: I lived in Radyr for well over 40 years and the Tynant Inn was the local pub. It’s morphed over the years, and the food has been very hit and miss. Having moved away, it was lovely to visit today to find that the food was outstanding. I had a meal off the specials board. Chicken & Chorizo. Really tasty. The Gammon and the Fish & Chips were also very well received. And you can still get a pint of Brains Bitter for under £4.

Kelly Allen: Great meal, friendly staff. Highly recommend 👍🏼

The Lansdowne Pub: what do users think?

Colin Baker: A long way out of town but fairly close to the Cardiff City stadium. And it was worth it. Lovely friendly pub. Loads of real ales. I found some Bombardier again!! It was empty when I walked in but packed an hour later with not enough staff!! Why on earth don't they pay extra staff, organise themselves and get a bumper Boxing day pay out !! After all January won't be busy. It really isn't rocket science. We gave up queuing in the end and went to the Stadium. They really are missing a trick with 3k away fans....considering it is such a lovely unique place...

Howard Dickins: This was the most epic Sunday roast I can remember. I normally cook a roast at home and think the average carvery in many places is a bit mediocre, but the Lansdowne was utterly fantastic. Not just the meat, but the towering Yorkshire pudding, the beautiful vegetables, the tasty gravy and the splendid roast potatoes. We all agreed we'd look forward to our next visit. The service was friendly and the range of drinks was great too.I highly recommend a visit...

diccoo32: Simple, good food and solid food. Great friendly staff as well!

Davinia Bailey: Very welcoming, nice selection of beers

Steven Evans: Holy was great!

Amanda Scarfe: , Trio of Roast Meats

patricia diez sanchez: First time there. The atmosphere was great. Food was good, cocktail good too. But service..... -10 we ordered a squid took 25 minutes to arrive to the table wasn't kitchen fault because we are sitting in front of the pass and the squid was under the light for more than 15 minutes and the waitress talking and walking around, was really disappointed and more when you can see on the screem the time and tables are waiting for food. With the prices you have you need to give better service

Jessica Leeke: This was an amazing experience and are waiter was a big part of it. Her name was Abby and she was a great waiter she was quick with are food and was very helpful. She was the best waiter I’ve ever had and Abby was great! I totally recommend this restaurant because it has great food and then vibe in the evening is lovely! It loved it and there was nothing negative about it and I’m being totally honest. It is the best!Kid-friendliness: There was a great kids menu and the workers were really friendly and chatty.Wheelchair accessibility: There are toilets upstairs and there is an extra toilet at the bottom for disabled people.

Frances Burgess: Food was good but linguine dish very expensive given the portion size. Chipotle chicken very tasty. Only real complaint was restaurant table near the window was very cold and uncomfortable, made worse by people going out through fire door. Would not want to sit there again.

MANDY Watkins: Loved the Sunday lunch great quality and taste, if I had to say any that's slightly negative it would be the temperature of the food I could see it being on the cold side for a lot of people, but for me it was OK as I don't like my food very hot , but it was one of the best Sunday lunches I had in a long time , and definitely be returning, staff were welcoming, attentive , over all experience was great , will be recommending the old cottage to friends and family for sure , keep up the good work team old cottage.

Marianne Humphreys: Absolutely divine. My experience was so enjoyable. Met more dogs than you can shake a stick at !! So lovely,..Beautiful food. So tasty 😋 how you supply such tasty food to So many people !!Vegetarian options: Fig and vegetarian Sunday lunch. With vegetables and cauliflower cheese xxx

Denise: Our first visit here. My sister and I arrived 15 minutes before kitchen closure so to be honest we were not expecting much. We ordered two curries half and half and WOW! ... I couldn't believe my eyes when they arrived at the table. They looked beautifully presented on the plate and tasted as good as they looked. Friendly staff and dog friendly. I have a well behaved little yorkie cross but it can be hard to enjoy going places with her as dog friendly can be difficult to find. We will definitely be back to try the Sunday roast.

Ruth Thomas: Six of us were there today and all food was excellent. Rump steaks, liver, scampi and fish dishes were cooked to perfection and ample portions. Will be returning.Parking: Lots of spaces

Peter Jones: Very good service, friendly and efficient.Beer prices acceptable, pub clean and tidy.Parking space Plenty of parking Parking options Free parking lot …

Debbie Collins: was back and for too often though asking how our food was just after 2 minutes and asking if we needed more drinks when we still had 3 quarters of a pint each, and when we had finished our meal, after only 1 hour and 10 minutes after arrival we felt obliged to leave as she kept asking do we want the bill. The booking was actually for 2 hours

Lynfa Postans: Staff as attentive as possible but had to work really hard to achieve this as they were understaffed. Food was delicious despite there being two fryers down in the kitchen resulting in a reduced menu there was plenty of choice and all 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Will certainly be returning and would recommend to friends and family

kayleigh long: Many thanks to Ethan, Che and Alex. Fab service, thank you so much!Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie and vegan options! Great place.Parking: Lots of parking behind!

Sonja Haag: From here it is a short walk through the park to the city center. The rooms are comfortable and sufficient. The pub is very cozy and we had nice people at our table on the quiz evening. The food and drinks are definitely worth it and we really enjoyed it.

Lauren: I enjoyed my stay at the Pontcanna. The room was very comfortable and relatively quiet considering it was above the pub. The staff were friendly and helpful for check in.The location was great to get to my meeting at the cricket club and is also just a few minutes walk to good restaurants and sites.I ate in the pub a couple of times and was happy with both meals. I was a bit thrown by the qr code ordering and paying at first but it ended up being very convenient and you always have the option of ordering from the server.I would certainly stay here for any future Cardiff visits.Food & drinks: Very tasty mains.

Andy blaster Dando: Our experience was great. We arrived half way through Wales v Ireland in the 6 nations and the place was heaving. The Door men were lovely, calling someone to the front doors to us so we didn't have to try to find someone ourselves. A lovely girl- jen/ gemma it think came to us, took our name got our key and showed us to our room, she explained how to get in and out after midnight as that's when the bar is closed and told us everything we needed. Our room was lovely looked out the front which is great a we love pontcanna, large window seat, really comfy bed and great on suit. We could turn the heating on off so the room was a temp we like and also a fan if it's warm.We slept really well, I even fell asleep just before the bar closed to someone singing oasis..lolThe bar is lovely and big, massive bear garden- all staff were lovely and it was a very busy night. I can't fault it at all and we will definitely stay again.Rooms: Big, spacious and very comfy. Clean with an amazing shower. Everything we needed.

Paul Bobo: and really lovely staff make this pub a joy to visit.Keep meaning on trying the food but never get around to it, looks decent
