Aldwick Estate: what do users think?

Aimée: We went to a wine tasting here last August for my partner's birthday. To this date, we can't stop talking about it. The gentleman who conducted the tasting had so much knowledge and wisdom to share. A beautiful story. I'm not someone who drinks alcohol but was able to embrace the experience and enjoy the tasting as much as my partner. We had a hamper which was cute but probably wouldn't add it in future.Definitely worth pre booking a taxi for pick up if no allocated driver.Would definitely recommend and would go again ourselves. Maybe next time we come Aldwick glasses will be added to the shop for purchase 😊

Hannah Gough: My husband and I got married at Aldwick Estate in March 2024, and it was absolutely incredible. All of our guests raved about how lovely a venue it is - it manages to be intimate even though it's really quite a big space! And it has a perfect rustic meets modern aesthetic! We loved that there were separate spaces, but it was all connected, so it never felt empty or imbalanced. The outside space was beautiful with excellent views over the mendips, and even though it was very early spring, there were some blooms and colour which made for lovely photos. The staff are just lovely. Sarah in particular was so helpful, detailed and attentive - I asked plenty of questions in the run up and they always came back to me quickly, and they couldn't do enough! The accommodation was also excellent. All our guests were very happy with the amenities. The rooms are fairly small but they have everything you could need and they're comfortable. The bridal lodge was fantastic and very luxurious.Aldwick have a great selection of decor items that they let you use for no extra charge, which is rare at most wedding venues! And the venue really doesn't need much dressing, as it's so beautiful, light and open, with those striking exposed beams.Their wine is really excellent and we were given a wine tasting as part of our package so we got to experience the accommodation beforehand whilst sampling the great wines that they have on offer.I am so happy that we chose Aldwick for this very special day, and we're very grateful to the whole team for making it happen!

John Gwynne: Hotel highlights Luxury

Andrew Morrish: At this venue for a charitable Xmas fair. The lanes in were waterlogged and heavily mudded in places so it's a relief to arrive to the well-managed car park. Great fair within the event building.Exit through the farm/woodyard was fun too.

Ian Liddiard: Excellent tour and picnic basket

Mike D: Nice venueLocation: 5/5 …

Anthony Sutcliffe: Just a short distance from the main A38, and a few miles from Bristol Airport. They have some very well built and furnished rooms available onsite to rent, with exceptional views of the valley in which the farm is situated. One of their old barns has been converted into a modern facility that can be used for conferences; and is also extremely popular as a wedding venue. It has excellent toilets, a great bar, and kitchen facilities that provide Michelin star rated food.As part of the farm's policy of diversifying, they planted a number of vines about 15 years ago. Since then they have developed a range of wines, some of which have received the highest awards for quality. They offer guided tours of their vinyards, and the opportunity to taste some of the product; this was the reason we were there. As part of the tour, you can also order a picnic basket, and then sit out in the grounds, enjoying the view. They are quite rightly proud of their achievements, and this came across well during the presentation which was extremely informative. The walk around the vinyard was really enjoyable, but be aware that the ground is heavy clay, so it can be wet and muddy; a change of footwear is recommended. They sell the wines they produce, either from hhe bar, or as bottles or by the case. It's not cheap, but it is worth indulging in a bottle for a special occasion.

DMJ AM: We attended Aldwick Estate for a conference. The location is very nice - a little bit out of the way, but easy enough to find. There is ample parking. It is set in a lovely, quiet, rural location. The room we were in is well serviced, light, and attractive with good acoustics. The family and staff were very accommodating, welcoming, and friendly. The catering was good. It is a very good spot for a conference/meeting.

Shell Dare: We got married at this incredible venue on 15th September and it was everything we could have imagined and more. We looked at 12 venues before choosing Aldwick Estate and we both had the same feeling as we did when we bought our first home. We knew it was right for us and it did not disappoint. Our whole experience with the team has been great throughout; their communication impeccable and hugely responsive on email exchanges. Our pre wedding planning meeting with Sarah was warm and welcoming, visions for the day shared and help and advice given when needed yet encouraging us to do what made us happy.Everything on the day ran incredibly smoothly with a huge thanks to Sarah and Saffron for all their hard work they put in to making sure everything was perfect. The set up was exactly how I envisaged and the day ran seamlessly. All our guests absolutelyLoved the venue and the staff were all so friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious and cannot speak highly enough of the catering team who did an incredible job. It was a day we will cherish forever and we are so thrilled that Aldwick gave us the dream wedding we had our sights on. Thank you to each and every one of the team, it was literally the best day ever.

Jess Chalmers: and astounding quality of the wines. Sarah, Saffron and the rest of the Aldwick team were a delight to work with and worked with us to get a day that fit our brief perfectly. They took care of all the stress on the actual wedding day so that my husband and I could simply enjoy ourselves.Other unique sellings points to Aldwick are that you can have an outside legal wedding ceremony

Paul Damon: We had such a wonderful experience at the vineyard wine tasting tour last Sunday. We enjoyed a hamper and a bottle of wine before hand which was delicious. The staff were amazing. Couldn’t do enough for you. Would definitely recommend.

Abbie Hicks: Me and my new husband Ian would just like to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Aldwick! We had our beautiful wedding there yesterday and can't fault the staff! They were very helpful and welcoming! All of our guests raved about the food and the venue and they all had a wonderful time! And we were very lucky to have the weather on our side!Thank you very much to everyone involved in our wedding from Epic Caterers for the gorgeous food, Kieran Clarke our DJ who was amazing! And just all the staff at Aldwick, you made our day very easy going and special. We now have an excuse to come visit every year now on our anniversary for a lovely bottle of wine! 🍷🥂

Barley Wood House: what do users think?

Nicola Haigh: were able to stay for the weekend in the lovely bedrooms and about 40 friends came for the Saturday afternoon and evening. We used the downstairs room and spacious hall

Kevin Speakman: A wonderful wedding reception at Barley Wood House for Emily & Ben with international guests staying over in the excellent accommodation.

Cathy Austin: Attending a gorgeous wedding reception at this venue. Beautiful view and gardens, great catering and service.

Ben Stokes: We had an absolutely amazing wedding at Barley Wood in July. The venue is just perfect for a lovely ceremony and party. It has lots of different areas for entertaining throughout the day, all which seem to fit in perfectly. The ceremony area is lovely, the dining hall is a great space for the wedding breakfast, then the party area at the front of the house is the perfect way to end the night. There's a terrace for the sunset with BBQ and firepit. It really does have everything. Big thanks to Lauren who managed everything so well for us, you'll be well looked after in the run up. Highly recommended Barley Wood - so many of our guests commented on what an amazing venue it is.

Katie Matson: . One of our suppliers also weren’t able to get in contact with them. The venue really is stunning and we had the best day but better support and communication from the venue is needed to get to 5 stars.

Edward Simon: Had a super party here. Great venue with lots of space.

Rebecca Townsend: It was an absolute dream getting married at Barley Wood. The venue is beautiful with spectacular views across the mendips. Excellent for accommodating small or larger weddings. The staff did an amazing job of answering any questions we had and helping us to organise the day. Thank so much in particular to Lauren and Connor who were a massive help during the weekend of the wedding. We were so sad we had to leave, what an amazing place!

Mark Burley: Lovely venue.

Charlotte (Charlando93): Attended a wedding here, it was a really lovely venue with stunning views across the valley. We had the whole place to ourselves which felt very intimate and comfortable. The ceremony under the garden awning was beautiful - a very well maintained garden with lots of different areas for photos. Grand interiors made the day feel special, and the bedroom I stayed in was enormous! Perfect for team bride to get ready together. I hear it was reasonably priced too. Highly recommend!

Chonhas Kujur: Beautiful

Tim Haskey: Had our son's wedding here and it is a splendid venue. Beautiful setting and private, you don't have to worry about the neighbours. Only a short walk to the village pubs.Taxi services to and from are operated by highway men though.

Hello Pictures: Beautiful countryside venue with great photography spots and a wonderful atmosphere for guests!

steve hillman: Absolutely brilliant lovely rooms and views

kayode Adewumi: Wonderful place to have a wedding. The grounds are magnificent. Room for a drinks reception outside with a view only nature could produce. We had a steel band creating Caribbean rhythms in the middle of Somerset. The food was amazing. The staff friendly and helpful. The reception hall was big enough for a 100 dinner and dance. Had an amazing time. Highly recommended.

Hamswell House: what do users think?

Jack Franklin: The most beautiful wedding venue imaginable! We had an incredible day and Rupert was so helpful throughout - always available to answer questions, etc. Couldn't recommend the place more highly!

Sarah Calascione: , the gardens that hosts the oldest wisteria in England

Jade Touron Photography: I had the pleasure of shooting at Hamswell House last Saturday and was blown away by the venue. So many incredible backdrops for photos, and the owner was so friendly! Let’s hope I photograph another wedding here soon!

John Brindley: Lovely location ideal for weddings

RJAM: Beautiful grounds and location. Attended for a wedding which was a great location. Staff were great and attentive throughout including Evie, Harry and Bela, keeping everyone topped up.

Eleonore Stiller: come true. We got married in July 2023 at Hamswell House. I am from Hawai’i and my husband is from Chepstow, so it was important to us to have a venue near his hometown. We also had guests traveling from Hawai’i and Australia, and we were keen to give them a feel for the beautiful English countryside, while also staying in the vicinity of a city where our guests could overnight. Hamswell House is perfectly located, roughly 15mins from the center of Bath, with Taxis serving the venue. We both knew from the moment we drove down the beautiful lane into the driveway of Hamswell House that we had to have this venue, and it was easily one of the best decisions we have ever made! Rupert limits the number of weddings at the venue, so couples are given a lot of flexibility to plan their wedding and make it unique to them. It really felt like we had a blank canvas to begin with, and we appreciated this SO MUCH, having visited numerous other venues

Jack Sampson: To picture our wedding day without Hamswell House is to not picture it at all. Hamswell was the first and last venue we viewed. It is large, versatile, and picture perfect. Rupert is a helpful, honest, and very knowledgeable ally as you plan and hurtle towards your wedding day. We hope many more will have the pleasure of holding their wedding at Hamswell.

Henryk & Alice: We got married here in June 2023 and would highly recommend it as a venue! Gorgeous gardens, wonderful views and Rupert is an incredibly knowledgeable and helpful host.

Hatty Stuckes: What an exceptional day at Hamswell House! We hosted our wedding reception at this glorious location at the end of May - looking down Swainswick Valley, with beautiful wisteria blooming and stunning grounds this provided our guests from abroad with more than a taste of a truly english wedding. Would highly recommend and the owner was a delight and quick to respond to all our queries. Thank you!

RICHER MUSIC Entertainment Agency: We have had the good fortune to provide a few different bands for Weddings at Hamswell House including The Stereo Jacks and The Rocktones in the past month. All of the staff are super helpful and friendly and the venue is stunning and in the perfect location. We would highly recommend to anyone looking at hiring it for their future wedding.

Eloise Liddell: We were married at Hamswell in early June and we couldn’t have asked for a more enchanting and magical setting for our day.We had a the official ceremony under the lime tree which worked really well - many cited this as their favourite part of the day, as it felt unique and non-traditional. The gardens and views are absolutely beautiful and the perfect backdrop to every photo. The whole venue has an excellent flow to keep guests moving to different areas, finishing in the marquee. We would also highly recommend Epic Caterers.Rupert could not have been more helpful and responsive throughout - it is well worth leaning on his expertise during planning as he knows what works. We would highly recommend Hamswell House for what one of our guests called “a destination wedding in England”.

Querine Bulthuis: We got married at Hamswell House in August and enjoyed a dreamy weekend on its stunning grounds. Overlooking the Somerset hills on a sunny summer day, the view was picture-perfect and we couldn't have wished for a more romantic and intimate setting. Rupert and team have been helpful throughout the wedding preparation, recommending local suppliers and supporting us in realising our desired set-up for an alfresco lunch. Highly recommended!

Shawn: During May, my wife and I got married at Hamswell House under the lime tree and we couldn't have asked for a more stunning venue! Pictures do not capture its splendour nor do it justice enough. Being at the front end of our friend group and cousins to get married, the overall sentiment at the end of the night was that we set the bar too high to match and it was largely due to how beautiful the Hamswell House venue was. Rupert was also very friendly, showing us the venue ahead of time, easy to communicate with and helped us arrange several of our key suppliers. Highly recommended venue!

Sarah Evans: My husband and I married at Hamswell House in July. It was an absolutely magical day in a magical setting. We couldn't have wished for a more perfect day. Rupert and the whole Hamswell team are great and helped us with making sure the day went smoothly. A truly unique and special place and a day we will never forget. Our guests loved it and said it was the best wedding venue they had been to!

Lucy Forster: My husband and I recently got married at Hamswell and all I can say is was that it was absolutely perfect. The house and it’s grounds provide the most beautiful backdrop to be able to create your dream wedding and have ultimate creativity and flexibility. We had so many compliments on the venue and it felt very special and intimate. Thank you again Henry and team!

Benjamin Zucker: We had our wedding at Hamswell House in August. We had guests come from 7 different countries and all commented on how stunning the grounds, house and views were.Rupert was exceptionally helpful, giving us suggestions and tips as well as connections to local suppliers.Would definitely recommend as a Wedding venue!

alison landymore: Lovely quiet space. We really enjoyed feeding the goat’s and being able to sit and watch them. Animals were so well cared for we loved watching the pigs having there belly’s scratched by a friendly chatty volunteer. I would recommend coming here especially if in need of some quiet time surrounded by nature .

C SS: I loved such a peculiar ecosystem in the city, there should be many more

Lesley Roberts: Only went to the cafe not the farm, I have been a visitor to the farm since my children were little 20 years ago. It's a lovely relaxing day out. The cafe is magical, food & drink is ethical, suits all diets much of ut locally sourced & foraged. The staff are delightful & very knowledgeable about the food & ingredients. If u've never been I would highly recommend a visit. It can be busy at weekends so if you're able to go during the week parking will be easier.
