Tri Coaching Ltd: what do users think?

Tim Why: John is a great coach.Came into my first lessons nervous as I couldn’t swim at all, I was instantly put at ease. After only two sessions I am managing to swim whole lengths of the pool.Very pleased with the service.Would recommend

Integra Financial Ltd: I took a gamble on doing some random research on line and stumbled across John and Tri Coaching. Responses to queries in advance of the meeting were fast. I've been having persistent disc and nerve issues with my back for months and i was told by doctors to stop running, golf, heavy lifting etc but i felt my body could do it. I went to see John to look at my posture/running and walking style.....literally within 20 minutes he diagnosed the issue, created a solution and a mini programme for me to stick to. Last night i did my first run since April and shaved off 20 second per my whilst having a better cadence, and a much lower heart rate because the run was effortless thanks to Johns changes. Better yet, i have no back pain and went to play golf today! This is no coincidence, i feel completely different where the loading has gone from my back to my core and I've not felt so happy in such a long time. THANK YOU SO MUCH JOHN. I will be back in September for another review to check the progress. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

LK: I would really recommend John as a friendly and approachable coach. I was apprehensive training for my first triathlon, particularly fitting sessions around working full time and other hobbies. John was amazing at creating a training plan that stretched me but also took into consideration my other time commitments. He also took time to answer questions and prepare me for the logistics of the race. As a result I really enjoyed the training and the race!

Paul Hilliar: John is superb. Gets me swimming significantly better each time we have a 1:1 swim session. And didn't ever make me feel self conscious about my starting point of being a bit of a rubbish swimmer. Strongly recommended.

Alan Williams: I've had the pleasure of being coached by John remotely for several months this year, and I believe sincerely that I wouldn't have been able to accomplish my goals without his coaching, educating, encouragement, and a bit of philosophy on the side. I wasn't sure about working with a tri-coach online, but John is attentive and sends complete and thorough responses to any questions I send. Moreover, he listens to the client, and it's obvious he takes a vested interest in all of us. I highly recommend him as a swim coach or triathlon coach.

Anne Barker: ! Thanks again for giving me the tools to fix the basics myself.

Marcus Rendle: Coming back to triathlon after three years off, my swimming presented significant opportunity for improvement! Five sessions later I am no longer belligerently try to fight my way through the water. I am swimming significantly quicker, with less effort meaning I am am getting out of the water fresh for the bike. I have gone from a back of the pack two minute a 100mage group athlete to a GB athlete looking forward to being at the right end of the pack in the European championships in a few weeks.

Merlita Rook: It has been really good for my son to have had some 1-1 sessions with John again. We first met John 4 years ago when our son had some sessions with him when he was 11.John helped him with stroke technique and his approach to his coaching was so good and made him feel very comfortable, so much so that he has wanted to see him again. It’s been a good experience for him and John has given him lots of positive feedback and things to work on to help make things easier for him in the water. We are very happy with how John has worked with him and shown a great deal of care and attention and hope to revisit him again in the near future.

Michal Gniewek: John is a great coach, John`s swimming programme and lessons help me a lot to improve my swimming time and get me ready for an Ironman .

becky harris: . I also took away really clear advice and a plan for improving my technique. John has a great way of making his advice sound simple and also achievable - which is really helpful when you're as uncoordinated as me!

Colin Wilson: John is very detailed and helped me develop/reinvent my swimming technique, knocking loads of time / effort from my position before.I highly recommend John for his patience and attention to detail. And most of all the lessons are fun too!

Bristol Cyclist: for a number of years for our swim sessions and has always been extremely helpful, supportive and knowledgable. In order to try and progress my swim further, I had a 1 on 1 endless pool session with video analysis which was absolutely superb. It was actually a complete revelation to see what I look like when swimming compared to what I think I look like. Within the session John gave me several drills to work on my kick, and I am already seeing a big improvement in my pace. I can definitely recommend having a session with John if you're looking to improve.

Hilda-May Latham: I used to be a ‘same pace athlete’, but with John’s coaching I was able to reduce my training volume and increase my performance. John helped me train smarter, peak for the races and improve my running. His training plans, supportive nature and ability to motivate; helped me achieved 2 personal bests and complete my first multi-day adventure race.I’ve really enjoyed the training and the journey with John.

Rea Pearson: John is a brilliant man and an inspiring coach!

Adam Brown: John is a great swimming coach. In just one extended session in the endless pool he refined my technique in a number of ways, helping me improve my pace from over 2 mins/100m to 1.40/100m.Enough said! Cheers John

Matthew Edmondson: I had decided to enter my first triathlon last christmas and after trying to remember my childhood swimming lessons, I thought I’d be ok teaching myself if I just started early enough. Despite a few very determined sessions, I quickly realised I wasn’t getting any quicker and definitely wouldn’t be close to completing 1.5km before the race. I got in touch with John and over four swimming sessions I gained much more skill and confidence than I had ever expected. The first session we covered the technical foundations that were subsequently built on in the pool and progressed to practising in open water. John has a huge amount of knowledge and experience to draw on, always managing to put information across in an understandable way. Whether you are looking for a single session to target something specific or have a longer term goal, John is the guy to help you achieve it.

Shawn Holland: I’m not a great swimmer having only been swimming front crawl just over a year, I’ve been working with John to help me understand the mechanics of what I should be doing and with his advice and him demonstrating the various drills my swim stroke has improved greatly. Above all this is the confidence John has given me in the water and I no longer dread swimming sessions. I would recommend John to anyone lacking confidence or wants to improve technique, it’s amazing how quickly you will feel the benefits in the water.

Richard Folley: John Wood has been my triathlon coach for around 18 months and I simply cannot recommend him highly enough. John has worked with me over that time to refine a training plan and approach which is reaping rewards. John builds a great coach-athlete relationship to a point of real understanding and is able to motivate, reassure, guide, sometimes restrain and sometimes push me all with seemingly mystical timing. Whenever I feel I need something from my coach John is there - right place, right time, right words. He has excellent technical expertise across the three disciplines of triathlon along with a wealth of knowledge and experience around general health and fitness, injury prevention, diet and not least the mental challenges of training and competing. He has worked with me around a hectic work life which sometimes can mean very long hours and we have reached a perfect balance with training and life.I have improved dramatically under John's guidance and intend to continue to work with him for a long as I am racing Triathlon. I am currently in the most consistent and best block of training I've ever achieved and I could not have done this without his help.John Wood is a brilliant coach and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

Helen Beswick: I am 51 years old. I am a competitive person inside but greatly lacking in confidence. A few years ago, I took up running and managed a few half marathons before my knee ground me to a halt. After that, I found it immensely frustrating to be surrounded by competitive people who were achieving great things whilst I seemed unable to join them. One day, someone suggested that I could do an open water swim. I said no, that wasn't possible because I had never been taught to swim front crawl and hadn't got access to any teacher. That was when I heard about John and contacted him to ask for his help. Fortunately, he agreed.I will never forget my first lesson. I got in the water feeling like a complete idiot. I had never worn a swim cap or goggles. John asked me to just do one length to show him what I could do. I looked at him blankly and said, "No John. I can't even do one stroke!" Breast stroke was all I could manage. After 3 lessons, I was able to swim a length of crawl. After 5 lessons, I swam a mile of crawl. One day, I really do hope to achieve a major endurance open water swim.John Wood is the most talented coach. I know that he coaches high level athletes but his calm, gentle manner makes you feel just as valuable a person for him to teach as any other at any level. Every time I have a lesson, I come away with renewed confidence. As soon as I had had lesson 5, I knew that the next time I swam, I would be able to achieve my one mile target. Granted, it took me 45 minutes but I did it!If you are an absolute beginner or if you are an experienced triathlete who wants to improve, I couldn't recommend John highly enough. I can guarantee that you will have one lesson and make tremendous progress.THANK YOU John for your continued support.

Gregg Halliwell: I have now had 2 sessions with John with the focus being on my technique. Having been watched by other coaches the main area they seemed to work on was the front of my stroke and the catch phase which was great but I still wasn't as smooth as I wanted to be. I contacted John after being recommended by Rio 2016 Olympic Paratriathlon Gold medalist Andy Lewis. After my first session where we concentrated on my body position and being streamline in the water I went away and did my normal sessions where I ended up knocking off 5 seconds over 100m and felt like I wasn't working as hard as I used to. With that being the improvement's already I am really excited about improving my swim going into the 2017 triathlon season. And working with John weekly to keep the improvements moving forwards.

BW Cycling: what do users think?

Adam Harley: I’d like to share my immensely positive experience of buying a bike from Andy and the team. From first contact they were helpful, friendly and responsive. The process of deciding on a new bike that is right for the rider and their objectives is a really important part of the process and Andy spent a lot of time talking through this before putting me on the turbo and taking all the relevant measurements to check if my shortlisted bikes were right for me. They really don’t want you to buy a bike that doesn’t work for you and there is where the value lies compared to buying online. You might get lucky but is it worth the risk? My experience was superb and I couldn’t be happier with my new bike or the deal they put together. Thanks Andy!

Bradhelen: 5 STAR AMAZING BIKE FIT! After 10 years+ road cycling and making a lot of mistakes buying the wrong size bikes in the past, I recently picked up an injury so decided it was time for a proper professional bike fit. I met Oli today for the fit and all I can say is wow! What an amazing experience! Easily the best 90 minutes you could ever hope to have, learning how to set yourself up the correct way. No stone was left unturned and I ended up feeling like I could sit on the bike all day! The main point to note for anyone considering a thorough bike fit is that Oli will give you a completely bespoke service. There is no guess work involved because every individual cyclist has their own unique body and flexibility levels. I should not have put it off for so long and can’t thank Oli enough for transforming my enthusiasm and confidence on the bike. The legacy of the fit is that you can take your measurements away to utilise on any new bikes or hire bikes etc. Ensuring that you can maintain your body and continuity/feel in the future. Thanks again Oli.Update review Sunday 2nd March 2024 - only a matter of a few days after the bike fit, the pain in my knee had subsided. Now after a few months I am back to full strength and raring to go for the cycling season ahead. Proof if ever it was needed that a proper fit is definitely the right move if you’re struggling with pain or issues.

LAP Bikes London: but we have worked together with them in making cyclist get their dream bikes. The owner Oli is fantastic to deal with. Highly recommend if you are based in Bristol or surroundings.

Andy Bevan: Excellent service from Oli and Andy and the rest of the team at BW. Nothing was too much trouble and I’ve ended up with an excellent gravel bike to suit my needs

Amanda amm: Olly did a bike fitting for me a couple of days ago. He is knowledgeable, experienced, helpful and friendly. I immediately knew that he could be trusted to ensure that I was in a better cycling position to protect my dodgy knees and achy hands. He had to adjust a few things and he took time to get everything right even down to adjusting the positioning of my cycle shoes. After assessing my leg flexibility and cycling posture, he suggested/demonstrated some helpful exercises and stretches. He has definitely made my Genesis bike much more comfortable in preparation for the St Malo to Nice ride next year and I will be returning to his shop for a bike service.

Matt Reynolds: was amazing. We also needed a comfortable saddle for my girlfriend and the do a thing where you can trial for a while and exchange if it doesn’t suit. Fantastic Thank you.We also stopped by during the special event and I met Nick Craig

Philip Bounds: Excellent customer service when buying a new bike.

Robert Harrold: Dropped by mid-ride as I'd lost a small part that stopped my rear brake working. Even though it was just before closing they couldn't have been more helpful and Josh sorted me out with the ride saving part. Outstanding service and really friendly.

Jo Sanders: Popped in on the off chance I could get my puncture fixed as had forgotten tyre levers. Matt was an absolute LEGEND!! Fixed the puncture in about 3 seconds, found the spiky thing in the tyre that had caused it. He even talked me through the whole process so I would be cool doing it myself next time. Only a tenner and some good triathlon training advice too. Made my day xxxPS some gorgeous new bikes to look at in there too

Juliusz Baranski: Amazing service. The bike fitting is second to none. Ollie is real pro when it comes to the bike fit and advise over the cycling position. The whole process is non comparable to other bike fits I have got. Also great bike shop with wide selection of bike and parts. It's also a bike service place. Can't recommend high enough

Rem Lam: Many thanks to the mechanic who repaired my freewheel body this morning 👍Thanks to you my journey can continue 🇫🇷➡️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿I don't live in Bristol but if I did I would have found my bike shop for sure 😁

Louis Reader: Very friendly and quick service. Knowledgeable staff who helped with my tyre issues. Slightly difficult to find due to the overpass and strange Google maps directions, but worth the journey.

Huw Greenish: Top quality customer service! Desperately needed a new tyre whilst doing JOGLE and the they went the extra mile to make sure I could get the stuff I needed. Many thanks!

Steven Richardson: Fantastic bike shop, ordered a new Scot Addict gravel bike from Oli, he kept me up to date with the delivery details and made sure the bike was the correct size.I would definitely highly recommend this shop for any of your cycling needsThanks Steven

andy chapman: The bike fitting offered here is genuinely spectacular. This fitting is totally personalised to you and the guys clearly use years of experience of cyclist physiology and use that to perfectly optimise your bike for you. It’s the best money I have spent on my bike and can’t believe bikes are sold without being fitted to be honest. It’s had transformed how comfortable the bike is and how much power i can but into it. 100% recommended and lovely guys, shop and experience doing the fitting.

Carys Holloway: Excellent bike fitting service from Oli this afternoon - road bike and MTB, with some helpful stretching / glute engagement tips thrown in. I'm feeling a bit more confident about my multi-day ride 🙂

n h: Great bike fit, very helpful on setup and getting all the details right plus a few helpful exercises

Gary Lake: Absolutely can't rave highly enough about what Shaun and the team are doing at the lake! Such a great setup, lovely people! Really appreciate Shaun helping me get back into Windsurfing after 20 years out of the sport and giving foil sports a go. Definitely check the place out!

Steve Wookey: We recently visited West Country Water Park to learn to paddle board. We were welcomed by the friendliest group of staff members that were more than happy to help us out and provide us with everything we needed to get started. Before going out on the water we were guided through everything we needed to know about paddle boarding by the experienced life guard who again was so friendly and offered us loads of pointers, obviously through experience. Whilst the weather wasn't great we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience and will definately be back to the park to do it all again!
