Although Ju-Jitsu was developed in medieval Japan, the martial art has gained great popularity amongst the police and armed forces as a practical form of self defence to meet the needs of today's society.

Ju-Jitsu skills can be applied by men, women and children to counter aggressive situations ranging from harassment to armed physical assault. The nucleus of the art is made up a system of throws, joint locks and strikes based on the principal of using an aggressor's negative energy to their own disadvantage.

Onna Ju-Jitsu Club has been established since 2000 and has become one of Yorkshire's most successful organisations with over 600 students training in Bradford and surrounding districts. We are a diverse and friendly club and welcome anyone who wishes to learn the art of Ju-Jitsu in a fun, safe and friendly environment. Our success, as a club, is due to the supportive and fun atmosphere we create in our classes to help students reach their full potential.

Team Fulinkazan is run by me (Marie) and my husband (Mark Spencer). Mark started teaching classes under the name Team Fulinkazan in October 2004 and we officially opened our own gym in June 2010 on Sunbridge Road in Bradford.

We ran a very successful gym in this location for a number of years. During this time Mark produced a number of high level athletes who have gone on to enjoy significant success in the world of MMA, BJJ, Nogi and Kudo and/or have opened up their own gyms teaching these disciplines. In January 2023 we made the decision to run fewer classes and concentrate on a couple of disciplines, namely BJJ, Kickboxing and Kudo (also known as Japanese MMA). We wanted to concentrate on quality not quantity so we moved the gym from Sunbridge Road to Planet Fitness on Halifax Road (BD6). Here we run two nights a week on a pay per session basis.

Mark Spencer has been practising Martial Arts since 1999 and has over 20 years experience in Martial Arts. He is a 2nd degree black belt in BJJ, 5th Dan black belt in Kickboxing and a black belt in Kudo. He is also a 2022 Kudo European Championships Bronze medallist, 2018 British Masters BJJ Ultra Heavy weight champion and Heavy weight silver medallist. In terms of coaching Mark has produced a number of high level athletes who have gone on to win numerous belts in MMA competition and medals in BJJ, Nogi and Kudo competitions. As well as coaching his own athletes Mark was also the Head Coach for the Team England MMA Youth Team (2019 – 2022), for the Junior Team (2018 – 2019 and for the Senior Team (2018 – 2019). I (Marie) have been training since 2013 and am a purple belt in BJJ, 10th KYU in Kudo and an Orange belt in Kickboxing. I have also competed in MMA at an amateur level and have supported the Team England MMA Youth athletes at two World Championships (2019 & 2022).
