We are a local branch of the RSPCA. We are a separate registered charity from the main society and we raise our own funds to support our animal welfare work within the local area. We run a Veterinary clinic in Bournemouth, and our branch is run by a committee of locally elected volunteers who are responsible for the management and administration of the branch's affairs.

The clinic offers a low cost service to home owners or rent payers who live in the clinic’s catchment area and are also on certain benefits. To qualify to use the clinic proof of address (utility bill), benefit (benefit letter or bank statement) and photo ID (drivers licence, passport) will need to be seen at your first appointment and 6 monthly thereafter. If you are not eligible for reduced cost veterinary assistance, we can only provide emergency veterinary assistance at an unsubsidised rate.

We operate by appointment only, appointments are available between 9am-4pm Monday, Tuesday and 9am-3pm Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.

Illness or injury can happen at any time and an important part of responsible pet ownership is providing them with medical care when needed. The clinic offers reduced cost (not free) veterinary treatment, You will be asked to pay in full on the day of treatment for services and goods provided by the clinic.

Out of Hours Care is provided by EMERGENCY VET CARE, POOLE. This service is for emergencies only and you will need to pay the practice all fees relating to your treatment at the time of your appointment. You must take your Clinic Registration Card to qualify for a discount, (the current fee is £85 plus any treatment or prescription) or you will be charged the full amount which is currently £165 before treatment/medication

All pets must be neutered within 3 months of registering. There are numerous health benefits to getting your pet neutered, these include the prevention of some tumours and of uterus infections, which in some cases can be life threatening. The only exception to this rule is when a vet considers this procedure too be unsuitable for the particular animal at that time.

All registered pets must be microchipped at the first available opportunity. It is also a legal requirement for all dogs to be microchipped from 8 weeks of age. Once your animal is microchipped it is your responsibility to keep these details up to date. Having your pet microchipped will give you the best chance of being reunited with your pet if it is ever lost or stolen.

You may register up to two animals for reduced cost veterinary assistance, only one of which may be a purebred, pedigree or “designer crossbreed”. All other pets must be registerd with a vet of your choice. Students may register one animal only. Determination of eligibility for these purposes is at the entire discretion of the RSPCA, whose decision is final.
