User FAQs

The park is named after a landowner who generously left six acres to the city for public use. It has a gate lodge built in the Queen Anne revival style around 1882.

Visitors can enter the park from either Lisburn Road or Cranmore Park. They can also take Metro no. 9A-C from Belfast city centre and get off directly outside the park.

The park was awarded the Green Flag Award in both 2019 and 2022, recognizing it as one of the best open spaces in the UK.

The park was opened to the public on 9 September 1924 by the Lady Mayoress of Belfast, Lady Turner. It was initially named Drumglass Playcentre.

Visitors can enjoy a kids play area, walking paths, and even a coffee hut during the summer months. The park is dog-friendly and offers a safe and clean playground for children.
