Gracie Barra Belfast BJJ Academy (Northern Ireland): what do users think?

Michal Krzysztof: Great place, nice people, good workout

Garvan: Best decision !!Myself and my kids all are members and I have so say we are so happy being part of this club. From the high standard and lineage of the professors to the attention and support you receive from all the coaches, and the friendships made with everyone in the club, this club really delivers on multiple levels,Graham, Jan and Aaron along with the other coaches put a lot of effort into making this place a great place to be while also making sure you are learning and understanding the art of Jujitsu. They organise seminars from top level Jujitsu professors who will come over and teach all ages and levels, so you will be constantly be progressing your level of Jujitsu. The kids class is run in a structured fun way, which teaches the importance of mutual respect and self esteem while also teaching kids how to use their resolve to deal with difficult situations which is an important lesson to learn. My kids have become more confident and well balanced as have I.Try the free trial and you won’t be disappointed and you also won’t have pressure to join afterwards, it’s all very respectful.

Mohamed Salah Babiker: Wonderful Professors and team! From the first time, I felt like I belong here! Professor Graham welcomed me and showed me around. The Professor made sure that everyone is following and participating, the learning process is very pleasant as they devise the time between different techniques. I would definitely go back!!!

Caitlin Wood: I visited when travelling to NI to see family and was really impressed. Even though I was new, and the only girl in the classes I did, I felt immediately at ease with everything. I received some great knowledge not only from the main man Graham, but everyone I drilled and sparred with. I will be back every time I visit NI, love the club. Thanks again, Cash

Behemoth Lair: Fantastic place to learn and grow. Best Jujitsu club with great teachers and students.

chris webb: Popped over from England for a family visit, and was made to feel at home immediately. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Lee Robinson: Brilliant club, coaches are unbelievable and so supportive, highly recommend, best bjj club in Northern Ireland

Alan Hutcheon: First session ...very enjoyable and very welcoming ...will definitely go back

Dean Matthews: Visited as a guest while on holiday, was made to feel welcome by everyone. Very professional gym with top class Professor, would recommend to people no matter their level of experience and looking forward to training again there in the future.

Jonathan Maxwell: Joined GB Belfast as a complete beginner in September 2022. The club is fantastic with excellent instructors and members who are all very welcoming. Thoroughly recommended.

Jimi Stix Howell: I came as a guest and was made to feel so welcome by Graham and all his students. Can’t wait to return

Sean Mc Glone: Great club, amazing coaching been made to feel welcome from the moment I stepped onto the mats.

Steven: Joined the club in January 2020. Instantly made to feel welcome by everyone from white belt to black belt. Never have I ever seen any issues on the mats and I attend everyday. That is until yesterday when someone decided to cross the line and become aggressive towards a long standing member. The club managed it swiftly and professionally. Thanks to everyone at the club for making it such a positive atmosphere everyday. This place is my second home

Louise: Brilliant club that has fantastic coaching and creates a fun and friendly atmosphere. This was exemplified yesterday when an extremely aggressive, abusive and threatening individual was dealt with professionally. I am encouraged to read that he has been asked to leave the club and there is zero tolerance for this kind of unacceptable behaviour.

Josh Taylor: Highly, highly recommend.

Forge Grappling - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu And Submission Grappling: what do users think?

R T: In a short time Mike and the guys from Forge have given me a new lease on life, I’ve built real confidence and I’ve made lots of friends, I’d recommend Forge to anyone seeking to better themselves, get active, embrace struggle and discomfort and grow through it. The space is brilliant, great mats and facilities in a handy location, and the quality of teaching as well as the attention to detail is unparalleled, you’re more than just a number at forge, you get personal critique and guidance that you would not in other gyms. 10/10

Siyavash Mokhtarzadeh: Fantastic BJJ gym that has a sprung floor mat area which is quite unique for most BJJ gyms I have seen, takes away the impact of drilling and takedowns significantly. Very credible and knowledgeable head instructor who is keen to develop each student. Warm and welcoming community here. Highly recommend.

Adam Peel: Just visiting the gym on a trip home to Belfast. Was made very welcome by Mike and all the members. Chatting to Mike about his method of teaching I can say this is a great way to fast track your progress in bjj. Would recommend

Edward O'Neill: My son started attending last year with no knowledge of Brazilian Ji Jitsu and loves it. It's helped build his confidence and fitness. Mike is really great with the children and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. I would highly recommend.

John Taggart: Mike's teaching methods are superb and overall welcoming and friendly gym for newcomers.

Shane Dunne: , Troy

Curtis Thompson: If you're looking for a great Jiu-Jitsu program for your kids, I highly recommend Forge Grappling. Mike and the instructors are fantastic with engaging the kids and creating a positive learning environment. The classes are well structured, with a great mixture of warm-up exercises, technique instruction, and sparring to put those new skills into action.

Jaime Steele: Having been a fan of UFC since the early Royce Gracie days and a Joe Rogan podcast listener, I’d been considering trying BJJ for years, but never quite had the confidence to turn up to a gym. I always imagined newbies, like me would just be fresh meat for the more experienced guys, but this couldn’t be further from the truth at Forge. From day one, I’ve been really well looked after by Mike and all the members. It’s just like one big family; everyone helping each other improve, sharing tips, advice and encouragement. It’s also one hell of a workout for both body and mind. I’m here for the long haul.

Jonathon Monaghan: Join the club 4 years ago. Fantastic group of people and coaching is outstanding. Everyone welcome regardless of level. Fantastic if your new to bjj. The recent addition of the kids classes are awesome. My 4 year old son attends every session and loves then. Not only does it look after his physical well-being but also his mental health

Hristo Georgiev: The Best BJJ lessons at the Best price. Excellent team. A1. The lessons are Great.👍 Learning and applying techniques, light workouts that improve motor skills and stamina...and lots of fun of course. My son is more than happy when it's time for Jiu-Jitsu.Thanks guys Keep it up.

Harry Corry: I have been really impressed by Forge grappling. My kids and I are completely new to Jiu jitsu and we have found the club to be really welcoming and the coaches are fantasic. I would highly recommend Forge Grappling to everyone.

Whether you want to compete, learn how to defend yourself or pick up a new fitness hobby I cannot recommend Forge enough! Icon Jiu Jitsu Belfast: what do users think?

Ryan Wilson: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityAbsolutely fantastic gym, could not recommend it enough for someone looking to start learning Jiu-Jitsu

john cross: An Outstanding BJJ environment. A very welcoming and respectful place to learn this effective Martial Art. The instructors deliver clear demonstration of techniques and are happy to go over the details that you need. They are attentive and considerate at all times. Facilities are excellent too with showers, toilets and kitchen areas for students. Icon have a comprehensive timetable making accessibility easy. I fully recommend it.

Aaron Fitzsimons: Great environment to learn BJJ. Doesn't matter if you're a complete novice, you'll be helped every step of the way. Couldn't recommend enough.

Dean Quate: . To say it was the best decision I've ever made is an understatement. It's carved a place in my life now that isn't going away. It is the most welcoming group of people I've ever met, and that stems down from the coach, Dave. He's approachable/friendly, informative, encouraging - everything you want from a coach basically. Well, apart from his steady stream of Dad jokes, those are abysmal 😆The facility at Boucher Road is top notch aswell, cool matted space, changing rooms, kitchen, chill out area, loads of showers, everything. Free parking right outside, always spaces. You can train every day of the week, there's a huge variation of classes on the timetable. My work shifts are all over the place, sometimes early sometimes late, and I can always fit in 3 classes a week with ease.If anyone's reading this considering joining a BJJ gym, getting fit or making a new bunch of mates.. this is the one 👌

M Leetch: A big thank you to Dave and the team you's are the best 🤙

Niamh Greenfield: and everyone has been so welcoming.I joined, not only to improve my fitness levels and learn the sport, but also to push myself out of my comfort zone, socially. The coach&owner Dave is great guy & motivating coach, who has a wealth of knowledge aswell as an evident passion for BJJ and his team. The class timetable is great, with something to suit everyone throughout the day which has been great for fitting training in around childcare commitments. The facilities can't be faulted

Ida Hamill: Dave and his co-teachers provide not only a nurturing environment in the teenage class, they also subtly encourage the children to discover their full potential by use of well organised activities. Delighted with how my son has been able to continue to develop his jiu-jitsu skills thanks to the mentoring style of Dave and his colleagues.

Danielle Ciocoi: I’ve been a member for around 5 months now and can honestly say it’s the best decision I’ve made to join.My husband and kids also train here, Icon is fantastic not only for us adults but the kids too. My son is autistic and struggles with any kind of sport/activity I’ve tried him in, but here he just clicked and is improving every single week. The coaches are fantastic, extremely helpful and approachable. The facilities itself that they also have to offer along side your training is brilliant.Definitely a lot of thought has been put in.Thank-you Dave for making my family’s learning experience reachable.

Dan Mc: I absolutely love this place!Dave the main coach is an absolute gentleman who has over the years went above & beyond to cater for my training. Before I started I wanted to train for a long time but kept putting it off due to nerves and lack of confidence, even after I joined there was days I'd drive down and just drive straight back home but somewhere along the line the club changes you it's a strange thing..For any beginner I couldn't recommend this place enough, it has a great structured beginners syllabus to introduce you slowly into your journey of becoming a ninja I could waffle on all day but yous get the picture, get down and train you'll not regret it, its one of the better decisions I've made in my life!

benn Carlin: Very welcoming and great place for all experience levels. Great selection of classes too to work into a busy life!

Joe Mcconkey: Well run the 2 guys are really amazing how patient are they all the kids enjoying what there being taught

Michael Connolly: Great training environment with fantastic coaches who are very helpful and approachable. I've been with Icon for a year and a half and couldn't recommend enough.

Martin De Brig: Icon Belfast has become a way of life for myself. I was nervous enough starting my journey at 43 but I definitely haven’t looked back. It’s even became a family thing with my 11 year old son into his 3rd year, the life skills and friends we’ve both picked up will last forever.

Bryan Carlisle: An amazing place to train. Dave is top guy and a brilliant coach. The facilities at the new space at boucher are first class. I've been a member for nearly 4 years and honestly wouldn't want to train anywhere else. I actually drive past a number of other BJJ schools to train at Icon because the place is so good. No egos or cliques, just really good training and plenty of banter. The club was really quite new when I joined and i've see it grow into a really well rounded team with lots of knowledgeable guys at the different belt levels. It's a great mix of hobbyists who train recreationally and others who like the more competitive aspects of BJJ. Can't recommend the place enough

Jonny Kelly: Joined ICON over a year ago now and its the best decision I've ever made! The atmosphere is amazing as everyone is extremely helpful and takes the time to help you develop.Even when i'm having a bad day I leave the gym with a smile on my face.Coach Dave is an absolute gentleman and a brilliant teacher who takes the time with every student. Dave doesn't allow any egos in the gym which creates a great environment for everyone. What joining Icon has done for my mental health and confidence is absolutely amazing and I couldn't recommend it enough to anyone thinking about learning BJJ.

Niall Brown: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueJoining ICON was the best thing I've ever done! Dave is a great teacher and makes sure everyone feels welcome. All the guys are more than happy to lend a hand or have a chat. Great atmosphere at training and my fitness has went through the roof! You won't regret it!

Shannen Laird: From the moment I walked into Icon and onto the mats I knew I'd found my happy place! A brilliant team of extremely knowledgeable coaches and a structured syllabus has improved my skills massively. I've made life-long friends out of my team mates here and the atmosphere is second to none. I couldn't imagine training anywhere else now. It's become a second home! Hands down the friendliest and most welcoming team around.

Mark Macmillan: Brilliant place. Clean. The instructor's are top knot, my son been there just over a year and look at him now.

David Stewart: I've been a member of Icon Belfast for the past 2 and a half years. I trained Jiu Jitsu for several years when I was younger and after a 10 year break from the sport I decided I wanted to start training again. I researched many of the clubs around Belfast and after chatting with Dave, I knew this was where I wanted to train. There are no egos at the gym, everyone is super friendly and it's just a lot of fun to train there. As someone in my 40s, I now feel fitter than I've ever been and have far surpassed the level of Jiu Jitsu I was at when I was younger. I couldn't recommend the club enough to absolute beginners or those at a more experienced level.

Defiant Martial Arts: what do users think?

Mark Mckinney: Great atmosphere and training environment. Cant recommended them highly enough

Scouser Ni: Joined the team by signing up for the beginners course. Unbelievable offer and now I am full member. They offer a wide variety of classes throughout the day with top level coaches and a very welcoming atmosphere. If you are thinking about doing BJJ then look no further, you won’t regret it!

S OC: Fun, friendly and focused - head coach Justin leads by example and has created a fantastic, inclusive environment for anyone who wants to learn about BJJ.I signed up to the two week free trial on a whim, and as a middle aged woman with no martial arts experience I was really nervous. From the first time I stepped on the mats the coaches made me feel safe, welcome and supported. There's a good mix of men and women of all ages and belts, and everyone is happy to help, share experience and encourage you to progress. There are plenty of serious competitors and casual hobbyists, and classes cater for all levels. There are early morning, lunchtime and evening gi and nogi classes, as well as judo and wrestling on offer. Plus the gym is reassuringly clean and the mats are disinfected after classes.I would recommend Defiant to anyone wanting to explore BJJ. You'll be challenged as much as you want, and supported all the way. You certainly won't regret it!

Duane Boulton: Im from out of town and was staying nearby i asked if i could stop by and try there wrestling class it was an amazing experience and was made to feel very welcome what a great place and what a great experience I recommend that you try BJJ and wrestling as a sport and what a great place to come if you do 👍🏻

Abdul-Rahman Ali: .So anyone from an ethnic minority background / or have any religious requirements - definitely sign up to this club, really inclusive and you’re made to feel very much part of the community regardless of your background! Now to the gym:Justin is a great coach, takes his time explaining the moves and the why behind it.The other coaches are great too! It’s a friendly and welcoming environment from all members

Tara Millar: Super friendly gym! I started here almost a year ago and I’ve dropped two dress sizes just with showing up to class and having fun. It’s such a different sport and the people are supportive and easy going.Gym is clean and there’s good space for changing. Plus there are weights etc if you want to add that to your training as well. You can train only women or the coach will place you with someone higher up to look after you. Always really good at monitoring how you’re doing it’s great. Highly recommend

Michael Tracey: I've been a member of Defiant Martial Arts for almost 6 months, and I can't recommend this club enough!I don't have a contact sports background or any form of martial arts experience prior to joining, so it's safe to say I was very nervous stepping onto the mats for the first time.Justin, his coaches, and all the members made me feel very welcome and put my nerves at ease and safely let me experience arm bars for the first time!!Like me, take your first steps with Defiant Martials Arts and make friends and experiences for life!

Zac Johnston: Amazing place, was very scared to join but everyone is so friendly and nice. Would highly recommend 👍

Peter Stewart: I started here as a complete beginner and was welcomed and made to feel part of the team from day one. There is a great group of people who are happy to help anyone wanting to get started or progress your BJJ.

David McCrea: with too much information. The other coaches and higher belts are always helpful and keen to offer their advice. My son also attends and he loves it - the difference in his discipline, social skills, listening to instructions etc has been fantastic. BJJ is tough but highly rewarding and this is a great place to learn!

Darren Leonard: Joined the gym in October 2022 for a 2 week free trial to try BJJ for the first time, absolutely loved it and joined as a full time member. The coaches are incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable and patient. Great atmosphere in the gym, train hard and have a laugh while doing it.There’s a mixture of Gi, NoGi classes, as well as wrestling and Judo which very few clubs can offer under one roof.Highly recommended anyone considering trying BJJ for the first time to join Defiant and give it a go!

chris 1710: Great facilities, great teaching and very friendly atmosphere

Jeff Hollis: Nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly and welcoming.Good for all Levels.Lunchtime classes suit me best but bigger numbers in the evening.

jordan harrison: Been here for 7 weeks and loved every minute of it. Fantastic atmosphere and coaching

Clare H: I reached out to Justin at RMNU in August looking for some 1:1 personal safety coaching as a complete novice to all things martial arts. From the first week he fostered a friendly, welcoming and approachable environment that as a beginner made me feel really safe and comfortable. I enjoyed it so much I’m hoping to go back and join the beginner programme soon!

Vanquish Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: what do users think?

James Gibson: A really welcoming club with very technical and skilled black belt coaching. Definitely worth a visit, experienced or not.

Roy McCaw: I've been a member at Vanquish BJJ for a while now and can't speak highly enough about it.Cole and his coaches are all excellent teachers, highly skilled and very approachable. There's a great range of members, young and old, men and women, different skill levels from beginners through to black belts. Everyone is really dead on.If you're thinking of trying jiu jitsu definitely give Vanquish a go.

Zoe: but good to see there were other girls / similar body types so I always have the option for a similar-sized training partner.

Ryan L: Visited Vanquish as a traveller, and was greeted welcomingly by both Cole and the whole teamThe class included an excellent mix of technique and rolling, with the higher belts always engaging to assist with fine details and movementsLeft after receiving an amazing technical smashing, 10/10

Saradha Wilson: Everyone here is so welcoming, and they really take the time to show you what to do. If you're interested in trying BJJ I'd definitely recommend!

Shane Webb: I normally train in Leeds where I live but over Christmas, I decided to try out vanquish bjj as a visitor. I had a great experience, couldn't recommend it more to anyone. The atmosphere is very friendly and the quality of coaching is great and very high level.

Ronan Mcsorley: Fantastic club, Coal is a great coach and is knowledgeable, friendly and approachable

Notorious TOM (Notorious TOM): I have recently started training at Vanquish and it's a great club. The coaches are friendly, enthusiastic and patient.I work as security for a bar/night club and I have been able to use these techniques in my job.Recently I had to restrain a violentand erratic man who was attacking a woman. I took the man to the ground and restrained him using the knee on belly technique I learned in class. I was able to keep him in place until the police arrived. Before I started training I would have had much more difficulty dealing with a similar situation.I would most certainly recommend giving BJJ a go if you work in security at all, and this is a great environment to do it.

Oliver B: Vanquish is an incredibly welcoming gym, both its members and coaches are great to be around. Cole has built a great culture within the gym. I started training at Vanquish a few months ago now and felt at ease straight away. The level of coaching from Cole, Paddy and Connor is top class, and there's classes everyday of the week so plenty to get stuck into! Very good value for money, definitely give it a go if you're considering starting bjj or looking for a new gym to continue your training!

Eoghan: I have been training at Vanquish for just over 2 years now and can honestly say the level of coaching and the atmosphere in this club is second to none. Cole and the other coaches have created a friendly, ego free, BJJ club with some very high level coaching.A great club that is perfect for anyone thinking about trying BJJ for the first time.

Callum Kennedy: I joined this gym a year ago and have found it to be a great place to learn Brazilian jiu-jitsu. The club has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, is great value for money and the coaches offer a high level of expertise and a variety of classes which makes it a perfect place to learn no matter what your level of skill. If you are looking to improve your fitness, find a new hobby or make new friends, would highly recommend Vanquish!

Michael Moore: After a long hesitation period I decided to give bjj a go. Best decision I’ve made. My fitness has improved so much! Vanquish gym is very welcoming and well run.
